We stayed at the Arctic Comfort hotel as part of a package deal for Iceland and New York. Hotel is small, warm and staff friendly and helpful. That's where the positives stop sadly. The place is more of a hostel than hotel. The room was tired and in need of a makeover. Handle missing on our wardrobe door and ill-fitting cupboard door says it all. First day we opened the fridge and there was a horrendous smell so we didn't use it. The bath towels were very small and hard so bring your own. Beware - there is no lift here so you have to haul your luggage up steep stairs. The location is what is best described as retail / industrial estate about 30-45 minutes walk ( or 10 mins bus ride) from downtown Reykjavik. There are limited places to eat around the hotel. You need to walk a while to get to any place to eat or shop. Breakfast is extra and is a small selection continental buffet at 2000 ISK each person. Really didn't look worth the cost so we gave it a miss. As a base to explore Iceland it was ok but by choice, we wouldn't stay here again.

Our rental car's GPS didn't find the hotel, although it got us near. We arrived on New Year's eve and were warmly welcomed at the hotel. Our two rooms were in an adjacent building with a secure entrance. Our rooms were clean and warm with a fair-size bathroom. Only real problem had nothing to do with the hotel - fireworks all night!
Breakfast gave a good selection of meats, fruits and vegetables with fresh waffles on demand.
Not being familiar with the value of things, we did make the mistake of buying postcards and souvenir gadgets in the foyer. Waaaay too expensive. Found the same for nearly half the price elsewhere. Our fault, not the hotel's.
This hotel was a little way from the city centre. It suited us for one night.

Stayed here 6-9th March.

The rooms are basic but did the job. Could be a little cleaner, dust on the lamps etc but the beds and bathroom were clean so that's the main thing.
The rooms were very toasty, we had brought hot water bottles with us not knowing what to expect and we didn't need to use them once.

The best thing about this hotel was the customer service. The staff helped us so much with a few issues - including having the wrong case!
They helped with bus stop locations, happy to ring around to confirm you were attending your trips etc.

The hotel seemed a little out the way, but as it goes it seemed to be the best location because we were always being picked up outside the hotel for trips when other hotels were having to walk to bus stops.

Would stay here again if I returned to Reykjavik!

I visited here from 1st-3rd Feb 2020 and can not fault the hotel. The location is about a 30 minute walk in to Reykjavik centre or easy to get to on the number 2 or 5 bus to Hlemmur (the main bus terminal) there are a few little restaurants near by if you don’t want to go far but definitely go in to the centre for a bigger choice as well as loads of tourist shops.
We used the Grey Line for all of our travel (airport transfers, northern lights tour and blue lagoon) and had no issues being picked up right outside the front door. I would definitely stay here again, the room was warm, hot powerful shower, lots of towels, free tea and coffee and shower gels etc. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly.

A great hotel with very friendly people at the front desk! Room was clean and warm and provided tea and coffee facilities. Supermarket just down the road to grab drinks and snacks for our day trips. We grabbed a bus into the centre of town, the bus stop is just behind the hotel on the main road and costs 6 pounds for two people to get to the centre. Takes about 5-10 mins so not too far. A taxi was 15 pounds. Buses are very regular and efficient. Breakfast was suitable for what we needed on a morning. I would stay here again as it was a good base for what we needed. Would recommend the soup place on the Main Street and the hard rock cafe

All staff at this Hotel were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean and had a bar which sold a toasted sandwich which was a convenience for our late return from a trip. Breakfast was adequate although some items were cooked and left available, so not always as hot as they could be. There was a convenient bus stop at the bottom of the road and a number of restaurants within 5 - 10 minutes walk. When out on trips we were usually dropped back first as the first Hotel back into town.

We were pleasantly surprised, rooms are spacious and lovely and warm, we had to run the radiator down. Clean comfy beds, rooms tidied on a daily basis, tea trays restocked and lovely hot showers, with it being Iceland expect a slight smell of sulphur from the hot water.
The continental breakfast is excellent, nice and fresh with plenty of choice, try rhe freshly made waffles mum.

I am no good with names, but all the staff were friendly, polite, smiling and very helpful.

It is a bit out of the way, but all the excursions pick you up at the door, and you are always first on and off the bus so grab the front seat to see the beautiful scenery. Pleasant walk into town, plenty of taxis or busses to get you home.

Arrived early and was greeted by a nice member of staff and shown to my room in the adjacent building, was helped up to the first floor with my bag as there is no lift. Room was a single, not huge but warm with complimentary tea and coffee (no milk, but there are two Bonus supermarkets in walking distance) Room was a little shabby (broken skirting and broken shelf in fridge), but nothing I couldn't live with. Turns out fridge was completely broken, which I only discovered on my last day after the milk I'd bought cuddled.
Shower was lovely and hot, but could do with a good clean to get rid of water marks and dust on the outside.
Room was only cleaned once during my 3 day stay, well bins were emptied and loo roll topped up but nothing else.
Mix up on Saturday meant my room key didn't work as they thought I'd checked out (good thing my trip had been cancelled or the reception would have been closed by the time I'd got back to the hotel and I'm not sure what I would have done!! If they'd have cleaned my room they would have seen all my stuff still there!)
Hotel a bit out of the way, but there are a few places to eat and the Kringlan Mall all within walking distance and the bus stop to Hlemurr is only 5 mins away.
Staff are very nice and speak good english and the checkout mix up was thankfully sorted very quickly.
Would consider staying again, but think I would prefer to be closer to Reykjavik city centre on my next trip.

We stayed for 3 nights and liked it overall.
This hotel is located aprox 1h walk from the city centre but if you decide to go for car rental it's not an issue. There is a supermarket nearly which is really convenient,
Our room was equipped with: mini fridge, kettle, hairdryer, iron and TV. in general the hotel was clean and warm, good WiFi connection, bathroom clean and quite spacious. Even tho our room was tiny (and we felt a little claustrophobic during the day) we slept well.

We stayed in this hotel in November 2019 and had a nice time. It's not too close to the centre of Reykjavik but we had arranged many different excursions during our stay in which we were picked up outside the front door of the hotel. All the main excursion companies are well connected to the hotels and offer pick up/drop off. There is a few small restaurants and shops nearby such as KFC, Subway as well a Pizza place and a bakery. There is also a Bonus supermarket nearby too which is handy.

Reykjavik has decent bus connections and you can catch a bus to the city centre nearby.

The hotel has a bar but we didn't use this. The room was nice. It was basic but provided everything we needed for our stay (we spent majority of our time away from the hotel)

I would recommend this hotel for short stays and especially if you have activities booked with tour companies.

Greetings, For our hotel, the resort fee is included in the price when you make the reservation (or it is added on a later step of the booking, depending on the booking platform). The resort fee is 333 ISK (around 2 - 2,5 €) per room per night for Iceland, although for the duration of the covid situation it has been suspended. Best regards

Greetings, Yes, all is still open. The only major restriction at the moment is for gatherings of 100 people or more. Public transport is still availalble, and the coach trips are still running (although they have decreased the number of people on the coaches). As for advice, other than the official advises worldwide, it is worth considering for your tours to rent a car and drive around by yourselves (in that case stay updated about the road conditions)

Greetings, This is mostly true... the bus does not accept cards, you will have to pay in cash (and the drivers do not give change back. The bus ticket costs 480 ISK), or find tickets to buy at a store and pay for them by card. Everything else you can pay by card
