The Reykjavik Marina hotel garners appreciation for its spotless rooms and charming common areas. Many guests speak fondly of the property's quirky and inviting atmosphere, as well as the professional and friendly staff. Its prime location near the harbour and city attractions, along with thoughtful perks like bar credits, adds to its appeal.
While the rooms are celebrated for their marina views, some guests note they are on the smaller side. Amenities like L'Occitane products are a hit, despite minor gripes about breakfast variety and room dimensions.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel was booked via Secret Escapes and offers good clean comfortable accommodation (we stayed on a B&B basis) close to the marina. This is an ideal location for Northern Lights Tours or Dolphin and Whale Watching Trips. There are plenty of areas in the hotel to relax but breakfast was disappointing. It is totally self-service and the choice is fairly basic. Some breads, crispy bacon, fish etc. Meals in the main restaurant of an evening are expensive by United Kingdom standards, but not compared to other restaurants in Reykjavik. Service in the restaurant of an evening is good although we only ate there on one evening as we wished to try other restaurants. The shopping/dining area of Reykjavik is a short 10 minute walk away so the hotel is ideally situated for seeing all that Reykjavik has to offer.

This hotel was perfect for a one night stay in Reyjkevik. The rooms are clean and the interior design is original. While the location is not in the heart of Reyjkavik, we had the opportunity to explore a bit more of the seaport district. You’ll be able to find some great bars and restaurants in the area overlooking the harbor. The hotel also features a nice bar/café where you can get a really good, affordable breakfast before you explore the city. The reason I’m bumping this down a star is the rooms can be a bit loud at night. Our particular room was adjacent to the street, and so I was definitely woken up a few times by cars driving by. Other than that one complain, I really enjoyed this hotel and would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for our 3 night trip to Iceland. We booked through TUI and I wanted to make sure I chose a hotel with half board as it is expensive to eat out in Iceland. All the staff were really friendly and always more than happy to attend to your needs. We got a room looking onto the marina which was beautiful at all times of day! The hotel is close to shops and restaurants so there is plenty is explore! The room was nice and the bathroom was quirky. We found the bed to very comfy and slept amazingly! The breakfast offers a wide selection of options from toast and cereal to bacon and omelettes and it was all very tasty. The half board menu was limited but as we were only there for 3 nights it didn't matter at all. Again, the food was lovely and the manager was really nice to us as one night we were going to the Blue Lagoon and had to have an early tea. We weren't that hungry so just ordered starters. He did offer to us that we could come back later and get our main courses if we were hungry. We didn't get back before the kitchen shut at 10pm but I felt that was really nice of him to offer that.
Also this is an eco friendly hotel so if you say that you don't want your room cleaning one day (i.e. new towels, bed changing etc) then they will give you a voucher for 750 krona to use in the hotel bar. As we weren't staying for long we did this for 2 nights and we used the vouchers during happy hour and managed to use these vouchers towards a glass of wine and a pint of beer!
I would highly recommend this hotel and would happily return if I was able to visit Iceland again.

The hotel itself is located right in the marina, which provided great views. Additionally, they have a special waiting area for pickups, so you can wait inside, rather than the bus stop outside. We traveled there mid-January, so it was very nice to have. The downside: by American standards, this is a basic hotel. The room is small (even though we got a junior suite), and the bathrooms have a sliding frosted glass door...so NO privacy! The bathrooms are small, which a sign above the toilet addresses. The free breakfast buffet is decent, as it has various food options. The staff is friendly. The biggest letdown for me was that I booked this hotel partially on the fact it advertised a pool/hot tub on their site. After discovering there was NO soaking area AT ALL, I felt like my money was wasted. One of the main things I wanted was to be able to soak in a hot tub after long tours on a cramped bus. Apparently, the pool/tub is at their "sister hotel." Overall, the value was good, and the hotel was unique and clean. If I were to return, I would look at other hotel options for some of the little luxuries I've come to enjoy while traveling.

I stayed I. This hotel for four nights this January for my wife’s birthday. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside is full of character. There are interesting wooden men sculptures and quirky features like a hidden rotating bookshelf in the lounge. The staff were extremely helpful and upgraded us to a room on the back of the hotel with a view of the harbour , which was definitely worth the extra £20 per night. The breakfast had a good choice and all seemed freshly prepared. The location of the hotel was very convenient to explore Reykjavík and I would happily stay there again.
Thanks very much marina Reykjavík hotel!

We stayed here in January and we paid for suite as this included breakfast and an opportunity for snacks and drinks between the hours of 5pm and 6pm I believe this teim may not be 100%. I enjoyed the breakfast and the room for suite was quite small but clean all the same. The shower was great. The only thing that let it down was the fact that the snacks and drinks were not as good as I have had when this option has been available in other hotels. There was only wine and beer on offer and only crisps and nuts. Usually all alcohol would be available along with a hot buffet so I believe this should be made clearer.

Stayed here for long weekend trip. The hotel is in a great location, was an easy walk to local attractions. We hit the blue lagoon, walk with a Viking, northern light cruise, brewery tour, into the glacier, fly over Iceland and many walks around town. There is a convenient bus stop by the hotel and it was walkable to just about everything we did, with a couple exceptions. The room was clean and similar to a Hampton Inn, etc. The included breakfast buffet was well attended to and in line with European breakfast options. No complaints, would definitely stay here again when visiting Reykjavík. Might be helpful to ask for a room facing the water (great views) we had street view, but still no complaints.

This is a difficult review to write because some aspects of the hotel were great and some were not. Let’s start with the great: Staff we’re all very helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of choices. Location was great. In room amenities were good. Food in restaurant was very good and they helped my spouse with her gluten allergy in guiding her selections. Off street parking was available. Room was clean and comfortable.
However, we stayed here at the beginning and end of our visit to Iceland. We found the rooms small and stuffy. The hotel TV service provider during both stays provided inferior signal, in constant digitizing state. Looking back at reviews 3 years old showed the issue is ongoing. We stayed in remote areas of Iceland at small guesthouses that had perfect reception. Cannot believe a hotel company affiliated with IcelandAir would actually pay for such poor quality product. Apparently, they think the “good enough” policy works here. The other issue is they advertise 24 hr reception. I called the front desk at 8:30pm, 8:45pm and 8:50pm, let the phone ring at least 20 times each call and no one picked up. A “4 Star” hotel never lets this occur.
So with that being said, I think 3 Stars is the most this hotel should claim until they get their act together to qualify as a 4 Star hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for a week and loved it. We got the booking thru an Iceland Air package deal, and I worried it might not be too great, bundled into this lower price, but it was fabulous. The lobby is filled with inviting seating, a fire pit to welcome you on sodden days, and all sorts of little nooks tucked away with chairs and coffee tables for quieter lounging.
Several separate, cozy lounge rooms line the ground floor for guests to use, but occasionally they get rented out for events and aren't available in the evenings. I saw a cinema room, and earlier reviews mention movies shown there. Sadly on our trip it was closed.
Our room was small and missing a closet, but there were shelves and hooks, and it was quiet, clean, and cozy . Our room had a balcony and a wonderful view of the marina outside. We enjoyed watching the progress of the huge boat parked outside being re-painted over the week. The shower was amazing with a huge "rain" shower head and plenty of hot water. The bed was mad comfy, and the tv and wifi worked perfectly. All of the staff we spoke with were friendly and helpful, and housekeeping was wonderful about nipping in and tidying up whenever we finally went out.
Breakfast was included in our package, and the buffet was the best possible way to start the day. There were many options from meat and eggs, to cereals, sandwich makings, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, and I discovered SKYR (a yogurt-like dairy product) which I now have a close and personal relationship with.
The restaurant and bar open in the evening for dinner, and we ate there twice enjoying some of the BEST lamb I have ever eaten. The decor is funky and fun, and the staff were all wonderfully attentive. Bonus: the statue in the restroom area is adorable.
Many have mentioned how hard it is to use the hotel if you arrive by car, and I can def see that. The entrance is on the "back" of the hotel facing the water, and can only be reached on foot. It you arrive by taxi or shuttle bus tho, they let you off close to the door and it's just fine.
We found the location to be perfect for us - there are many newer museums and a bevy of fab restaurants just a stone's throw away. And friends, there were scooters. We discovered the electric scooters scattered around town, controlled by an app (you will need a functional sim card in your phone to use,) and took them several times to go shopping at a nearby grocery store, and explore the "old town" of Reykjavik a few minutes away.
I give this hotel a four star review for it's spartan accommodations in the rooms, and the fact that our room was very hot at all times, but otherwise, it was perfect, and I would be thrilled to stay here again. Both thumbs up from me!
