The hotel is located on the harbour front and easily walkable to the main tourist attractions. Valet parking was a huge benefit albeit not cheap.

We were upgraded to a harbour view room, which was very nice but still a little on the small side. The shower room was large however, and we were treated to a nice little surprise of traditional leaf bread when we returned to our room on the first day.

Throughout our stay we were impressed with the staff we met...all extremely friendly and helpful.

The gym is quite small and includes new Matrix equipment. However, it was extremely dark and the air con system had yet to be fully installed (they had floor fans instead).

The lobby lounge looked nice with a modern fireplace, but this gave off zero heat and we found the place extremely cold...nothing cosy about this spot!

We liked the Tides restaurant and cafe but as with all such places in Iceland it is quite expensive. Breakfast was table only service when we visited. Apparently, there is a nightclub planned as well as a rooftop bar which will definitely add to the ambience.

All things considered, despite a few niggles, we really liked the place and especially the staff.

Dear Zigett, Thank you so much for taking time to leave us a review. We appreciate all feedback, positive or otherwise, as it helps us further refine the exceptional experiences we strive to provide here at The Reykjavik EDITION. As a newly-opened hotel, we are actively working to resolve some of the "teething issues" you have so kindly pointed out. In the coming weeks and months, we will open our remaining facilities you have mentioned, so I hope that if you choose to stay with us again, you will feel that the value you receive meets the price you pay. I will also gladly address the issues of lighting and heating with the appropriate teams so to prevent future guests from experiencing the same challenges. While we take great pride in our hotel, perfection is not easy. We appreciate your candid review, and are honored that you chose The Reykjavik EDITION as your home base during your visit. Should your travels bring you to Reykjavik again, we will be waiting to welcome you back! Best, James

This was my favorite hotel during my Iceland trip and possibly the best hotel experience I have had. The rooms were beautiful with that cool Icelandic aesthetic, and were also incredibly cozy and included thoughtful touches. The beds, sheets, pillows, and towels were luxurious, the lighting designed well, and small things like a water pitcher and bluetooth speaker were appreciated. The complementary hammam spa was perfect for combatting jet lag or relaxing after a tour. We also enjoyed the hotel bar and the breakfast (included in my rate) was delicious. Also, the Edition customer service was spot-on, professional, helpful, and friendly (but not intrusive). Location was great too. I would definitely stay here again and would encourage my friends and family to splurge a little to stay too.

I wanted to love this hotel. The design is cool. We were most looking forward to this stay as the last hotel of our trip around Iceland. Unfortunately, we got what must have been one of the smallest rooms available. My friend and I booked the same room; hers was for a family of three and ours a family of four and our room was even smaller than hers. Why cram us into the very smallest room (her room type was not an upgrade by the way). I stay at a lot of very high end hotels, and this was just not up to standards. (Because we switch around our hotel allegiance based on the best fit on where we are, we do not have the highest status but we are Gold Elite and apparently that means less than my friend who has no status at all - I don’t necessarily expect an upgrade but I do expect common courtesy). Rooms seemed clean - I will say that our room was so small that the trash bin needed to be shoved into the corner behind the window curtains and when we “found” it the next morning we realized that the bin had not been cleaned from the previous guests! There was a wrapper and food in the garbage that we did not eat. The front desk staff was very accommodating about this mishap so that definitely made me feel better. Another example that brings down this hotel in my view: in the morning as we grabbed a quick pastry at the bakery, the woman who worked at the bakery/cafe would not offer us a glass of water until she realized that we had, in fact, already ordered three pastries from them. There was a lot of attitude over a simple glass of water. Not very pleasant. All in all, for what is supposed to be a “luxury” hotel, I was disappointed.

Stayed here for a week in March - hotel in central location in walking distance to restaurants and city’s sightseeing.
From Checkin to checkout all was smooth rooms are very well sized with views over the harbour.
Our only problem was the room was cold with the thermostat not working very well so we were given an electric heater.
Breakfast and Dinner was good quality and the small deli a nice touch.
Staff were helpful and concierge organised all of our tours which were perfect -also a nice end to the holiday the northern lights were seen from outside the hotel lobby.

I got an extremely good rate so stayed there- it was still expensive. I'm Titanium Ambassador with Marriott so got an upgrade to a harbor view. Very small room. Everything is pretty, nice, sort of a luxury version of Ikea. Pretty simple- no flourish and certainly no gold trim glamor. I agree with the previous comments that the bathroom is sort of upscale locker room look and the sea view is just a bunch of old ships. There is construction on one side of the hotel so I'm glad I wasn't there but any views that were there are gone. The staff were wonderful. No free Titanium breakfast at Edition so that was I think $50 extra a day. Parking was $50, so even with my good rate this was expensive. We wound up leaving a night early and going back to Courtyard by the airport which was the same price but free breakfast and free parking and allowed us to sleep in when we had early morning flight. I don't really understand Nordic version of luxury which may be more an indictment on me than on this hotel. I guess just very simple lines, very clean, dark lighting with light wood furniture, stoic bathroom tile, extremely expensive prices and voila, I give you Icelandic luxury.

Dear Psnpsn, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your recent stay at The Reykjavik EDITION. I am sorry to hear that your experience with us was not the enchanting experience we wish all our guests to have, but I am glad to read that your interactions with the teams left a great impression. I think it is fair to say that the design direction EDITION hotels go towards could be similar to what one may associate with Nordic stylings. All of our properties around the world exhibit the points you note: very simple lines, clean, dark lighting, light wood furniture, and stoic bathroom tiles, among other themes. We are honored that you gave our hotel a try, and I hope that you will consider our other EDITION properties around the world. Should you ever stay with us again here in Reykjavik, we would love to show some of the other rooms and views we have available to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Thank you for staying with us, and all the best in your future travels! Regards, James

Spent 4 nights at the hotel, and overall it was a fantastic stay, on arrival We were upgraded, and the hotel layout and details explained. We drank in all the bars, the lobby bar was always lively and the roof top bar had excellent views of the harbour. Our room was spacious and the bed and pillows very comfortable. Only negative (and not much of a negative) is the lighting in our room was not ideal. We ate in the cafe which was nice and filled with decent range of snacks and drinks, and we had the breakfast buffet one morning which had good selection of fruit, cereals, pastries and hot and cold food. We ate once in the hotel Tides restaurant and the food quality was good and nice service. All the staff were nice and attentive, offering hand warmers when it was very cold, and taxis were available within minutes of being called. The spa was small but had all you need with good size Sauna and steam room, as well as a small plunge pool. The location was ideal being on the harbour, with a short walk to the main city areas and with a food hall opposite which offered many cheaper alternatives meals. Excellent hotel and was more pricey than some but feel it was value for money. Would definitely stay there again.

Spent 3 days at the end of our Ring Road adventure. I can’t say enough good things about the property. First, the people are exceptional, so friendly and professional, and very proud of the property. They come from all over the world. Second, the rooms are so comfortable. Got an upgrade to a one-bedroom suite with a great view; yes, a bit of construction, but that should be finished soon. The bed linens, towels, bathrobes, toiletries, were all yum, and the bathroom floor was heated!! Third, the spa! I did not go myself, but my boyfriend skipped some of our activities to spend the afternoons there. Steam, sauna, pool, and great service, again. And finally, the cafe pastries, delicious!!

I have found in my travels that neither Edition nor Ritz care about my Marriott status. This property truly surprised me in how they acknowledged and rewarded my level, even though I was there on a ridiculously low rate that I got as a fluke. They also extended the courtesies to my friends in a separate room.

Thank you Edition, and best of luck as you come out of preview in the next few weeks. I do hope to come back!

Impeccable stay. Excellent location, gorgeous design (albeit dark) and fabulous service. We enjoyed Tides Cafe probably a little too much as the food was so delicious. Clean and nicely appointed rooms. The shower was a dream!! My only issue was the room was very dark and made it hard to find things in suitcase. Others in our party said they heard loud music on Saturday night from the club but it did not affect our room.

The perfect central location on the waterfront. Just a few blocks to all of the museums, restaurants and shop that you want to visit in Reykjavik. The rooms are beautifully furnished, and the bathroom floors are heated by the same Icelandic geothermic resources that can be enjoyed in the hotel spa. Staff is responsive. Lobby is a great place to relax between excursions.

It’s the most expensive hotel in the capital but not worth the price. It’s not a 5 stars hotel. It’s 3-4 stars maximum.
Room is not so big, it’s very dark without lights. You don’t have privacy as every room is one in front of each other. Bathroom so less water in the shower and amenities inside plastic jars with message if the guest take it you should pay 10.000 ISK (so boring this kind of message).
Service in general not like a 5 stars hotel.
Breakfast ok. Gym ok. Spa didn’t schedule any massage.

Hi. The rooms do have blackout shades and the glass is tinted but there are floor to ceiling windows so you need to make sure the curtains are fully closed.
