Hotel Klettur is a modern hotel, only a stone's throw from downtown. The hotel's name is derived from the rock that breaks through the wall on the first floor. When choosing the colour theme and the interior decoration for the hotel we had in mind the unique colour scheme of the Icelandic nature. Hótel Klettur has 166 rooms, of which there are 143 Standard rooms and 20 Superior rooms. The rooms are all modern, bright, spacious and well equipped. In every room, you will find a refrigerator, telephone, satellite TV, internet connection, ironing board, clothing iron, hairdryer, coffee and tea maker and a safe. The hotel is within 2 km walking distance from all the major sights and only about two minutes walk from the Hlemmur Food hall and Laugavegur shopping street.

Hotel Klettur strikes a chord with guests for its central location, a stone's throw from numerous city attractions and public transport options. The inviting atmosphere, with cozy and tastefully decorated rooms, receives consistent praise, although room sizes and noise levels can vary. While the variety of breakfast delights many, others suggest it lacks diversity. Service is generally lauded for its efficiency and friendliness, especially at the front desk, yet some guests note the need to request specific room cleaning. Overall, the hotel's cleanliness and value for money stand out.

Stayed for 3 nights on bed and breakfast. Our room, 234 was a short walk from reception and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our only tiny negative was that the beds had a flannelette sheet to sleep on and one of the pillows was like a brick, really hard and lumpy. We know flannelette are preferred by some but we prefer smooth cotton. The free WiFi was excellent and the room and all the hotel was really clean. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice, including hot porridge.
We were really pleased to be able to get BBC and ITV on the tv in the room.
The hotel is in a great central location, and the tour coaches pick up at the door, so you don’t have to stand outside in the cold.

We stayed in Hotel Klettur for our first ever Iceland trip. We just got back less than a week ago. The hotel is just minutes away from Bus Stop 13(it’s a pick up location for most day tours), downtown area, shops, Hlemmur food court and landmarks. Our room was very comfy and spacious. Some people are mentioning something about not having their rooms cleaned but it’s something you have to request and they will do it for you. Breakfast has wide array of fruits, veggies, bread, cold cuts, cereals etc. I’ve already recommended this hotel to 2 family members who are planning to go next year. We were also always getting picked up first for our day trips(I guess we are closest to the tour companies) so we always get the best seats for our tour. Overall, we have a wonderful time in Iceland. Thank you, Hotel Klettur!

My husband and I have just returned from a 6 night stay at Klettur. The room was basic, but as we mainly used it as a base for exploring, and generally crashed out by the time we returned this was totally fine!

The room was clean, and was cleaned 3 times during our stay, the facilities were great- fab hot shower! The room also had the added bonus of a mini fridge, a safe, a mini hairdryer and both an iron and ironing board.

We are both vegan, and to our surprise we managed quite well at the hotel breakfast. The oatmeal was vegan, there was plenty of available fruit and they had soya milk out for cereals and coffee.

The location was great for getting into town- maybe a 15 minute walk and 30 minutes to get to the harbour and a mere 4 minute walk from bus stop 13- which is useful to know if you plan on taking any excursions.

The desk staff are very helpful with booking yours or contacting your booked hours or transportation. They speak perfect English and I think other languages. Louie was very pleasant and helpful. The location is great. A BONUS grocery store open until 7pm is just a left turn, right at corner and left into store entrance.
The main pedestrian street (Laugavegur) to get to town center or health department for COVID test is a block away.
The breakfast is excellent and serves from 6-10!
Plus, they will make you a take away breakfast if you are leaving early. Included skyr, oatmeal, boiled eggs, two meats, bell peppers, kiwi, oranges, melon, tomatoes, assorted jellies, nut butters, breads, a couple of pastries, whole apples, bananas, pears, apple or orange juice, coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, milk, dry cereal.
Always plenty of each.
Room is plenty big includes hot water pot with instant coffee and tea bags, safe, refrigerator, flat screen, iron & board, hair dryer, shower only. Bathroom floor is heated and floor temp can be adjusted making a perfect place to dry your socks or smalls haha.
Nice bar. Rec area with pool table plus a few kids play things.
Snacks beer and single serving wine available for purchase at reception. Prices match any other place except grocery store.
Direct drop off and pickup hotel for many companies which is nice if it’s raining.

We spent a long time choosing our base for exploring Reykjavík and chose Hotel Klettur because of it fantastic location and reasonable price.

Our room was clean, comfortable, warm and on a random note, Icelandic tap water is unbeatable. Breakfast was traditional and plentiful to get us started for the days exploring Reykjavík.

Staff were all friendly on check in and check out. I left one of my favourite jumpers in our room wardrobe, we called a few days later and they still had it so we went back to collect, I was really happy about that so thankyou.

Thankyou Hotel Klettur for a wonderful stay!

Like most Reykjavik hotels, it has the skinny single beds which are too firm. We had two regular single beds and the third bed was a sleep sofa, but with the mattress just a couple inches off the floor; very awkward to lie down on it. The pillows are the hardest I've ever slept on, and I like firm pillows, but these were like bean bags. Many rooms face an interior courtyard and rooms on the other side. Dozens of rooms looked right into our room: no view but of other rooms. We were on the ground level floor, so it felt like a canyon looming over us. We had a handicap room (not requested, but probably what was available). It was right next to the door to the lobby, so we heard that door slamming all the time. On the good side, the bathroom was quite large, probably to accommodate a wheelchair. The open shower meant that half the bathroom was wet after using the shower, but it did drain. The breakfast is adequate, nothing more. I didn't see any hot food. It had the usual breakfast pastries, sliced meats and cheeses, cereals, etc. At least it comes with the room. There is a double closet and a desk and chair, with a very small flatscreen TV. The room had a refrigerator. The room was clean and functional, but no atmosphere. There wasn't a single piece of art in the room, just bare white walls. This is a place to sleep, but not to hang out in. We didn't use any service so I can't comment on that. Nothing wrong with this hotel, but nothing special either. The location is fairly good as it is a couple blocks from Hlemmur Food Hall and bus station. There are a lot of restaurants and shops on the main street two blocks from the hotel, so you don't need a car.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for four nights, 05/02/2020 to 08/02/2020. I had previously seen poor reviews concerning the lower rooms being very small and near the street and Car Park level. I contacted the hotel to try and reserve a higher room. It was also our Wedding Anniversary! The reception staff were most helpful and we had a good room on the fifth floor ( Room 520 ). We found the reception staff were very helpful during our short stay and we appreciated the free drinks upon arrival. We had breakfasts in the hotel and found these adequate but a bit boring. There was no variety and the identical continental choice every day can get a bit like school dinners. The only hot food was porridge and this was appreciated. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the main shopping street and the central bus station is only minutes away. The hotel is warm and welcoming with a pleasant bar. The Happy Hour is a good deal!

Dear David, Thank you for your review and happy anniversary! Our team works very hard to try to offer our guests a home away from home, it's great to hear that you and your wife enjoyed your time with us and we truly appreciate your kind words. However, we're sorry to hear you were disappointed with breakfast. Breakfast is always included in the price and we try to offer something for everyone. With that being said, your comments are much appreciated and your feedback will help us to continually improve. Thank you again and for choosing Klettur, we hope to welcome you back soon :) All the best, Hotel Klettur team

We stayed 3 nights bed and breakfast booked with Jet 2 city breaks, great value, easy check in, if room not ready leave luggage in luggage room, we had a room on floor 3, a corner room overlooking the front street, there is building work going on opposite but we didn't hear anything and they only work during the day. A.light airy room with plenty of lights, warm and comfortable with a desk and chair, large bathroom with walk in shower, basic toiletries provided and nice clean new towels, the shower curtain was new but it is not needed as the shower is large. Breakfast is good, nice porridge, orange juice, apple juice, good coffee and tea etc, ham, cheese, tomato, boiled eggs, choice of breads and pastries, quite enough to start the day, all fresh too. Guests are asked to clear the tables, staff wipe the tables and it helps to get the breakfasts quickly as most guests appear to be going off for the day from 8am. Reception manned all the time, pleasant staff. Modern reception area, breakfast room, games room and bar area are downstairs, nicely decorated, the hotel.has a lift too, a comfortable stay, would recommend

This is the perfect hotel if you are on a budget and are planning to do lots of tours as you can get picked up right outside and often you will get dropped off first. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. I thought the breakfast was lacking hot food (no sausages, bacon, eggs, waffles or pancakes etc) but there was still a big selection of cold options. If you are looking for a quick meal there is a pizza place (Devitos) a very short walk that does amazing pizza's.

Nice clean hotel.
Short walk from town centre. You can walk to Perlan in 30 mins, actually it took us 30 minutes to walk to most places that were further away that we wanted to visit within the city itself.
The hotel said they would clean our room daily if we wanted we just had to tell them, I wish more hotels did this, as it wasn’t a service we needed or wanted daily.
Friendly staff, lovely bar area.
Make sure you make use of happy hour.
Breakfast was varied enough for what we wanted, I’d consider myself hard to please, I was happy with the breakfast.
A good base to go off and do what you want to do.

They had a transfer at the bus terminal in Reykavik. You can tell them where you're going and they can direct you. These buses are small so they know where everyone is getting dropped off. Most folks speak English so you can tell them to be sure.
