Detailed Reviews
Great location in the heart of everything. Many bars, restaurants, shops in walking distance. Was able to walk to the famous church, also walked to the penis museum. There are also bus stops walking distance when you need to go on excursions. You can also book airport transfers and be picked up/dropped off at bus stop.
Room was a decent size, clean, bed uncomfortable but made the best out of it. Bathroom had very hot water ! no issues with housekeeping they were on top of things.
Breakfast was mediocre...eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, oatmeal, and coffee etc but we loaded up since food in Iceland is expensive . The first day we got there it was before check in and we had to wait for the room so we asked if we could go grab breakfast and were told we would have to pay the fee for that morning. We passed However when we did go the next day, there was no one there verifying so basically anyone can walk in and have breakfast. There is a specialty coffee machine on the top floor and another one as well but I can’t remember what other floor.

Hotel has all you need for a short stay in Reykjavík. Clean and tidy with staff who can't do enough for you. The location is perfect with a 1 minute walk to bus stops, including bus stop 3 which is a major one for excursions, and bus stop 1 for airport transfer.
The hotel isn't fancy, but for a city break its perfect, and should I return to Reykjavik, this is where I would stay again. Good value for money (even in Iceland!)

Stayed here recently , great central location on the main shopping bar area,( would just be aware there could be lots of noise from the bars at night, we were lucky it snowed a lot so no one using outside tables) there are building works at the back of the hotel which started around 8am but generally we were getting ready for trips so not really a problem . Staff really great and helpful, small but good selection at breakfast hot and cold food .
The rooms are comfortable and warm not too sure about the furniture think its supposed to be authentic , but its ok! public areas well presented all very clean .
you could definately do worse!!! close to bus stop 3 for excursion pick ups well within walking distance to the Harbour and concert hall areas.
We really enjoyed our stay!!
Thank you

Good and comfortable stay, single room was very small but neat, clean and comfortable. Location is perfect but that is also the major downfall. As others have mentioned, at the weekend expect a 2 hour window between 4-6am when the nightclub closes and before the street cleaners start. I’m not a light sleeper but it was VERY loud. Not the hotel’s fault at all, just a result of the central location. Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful with advice in places to visit and eat etc. Overall good value for money in what is an expensive city.

We stayed three nights here. The location was very central and the price was great compared to other area hotels. Bus stop 3 is very close for flybus and tour pickup and drop off, and there are many dining options nearby. The hotel was clean and beds comfortable. All the staff we encountered, from reception to maids, were friendly and helpful. There was a little bit of street noise from nearby bars some nights, but it was not overly bothersome and I don’t think you can get away from that anywhere in the city center. The hotel did provide eye masks and ear plugs, which we did not need. The restaurant was not open yet at the time of our building. A free breakfast would have made our stay perfect. I would recommend the hotel and stay again.

We stayed here over NYE. We booked last minute as we changed hotels and we were so glad we did!
We had a very small room but the front desk said to come down after NYE when it is quieter and they would upgrade us, we didn't go back for the upgrade as the room was okay as we didn't spend much time there but they approached us and upgraded us to a huge room anyway. It was amazing, very large with a nice view of the church!
The hotel staff were very friendly and offered much help when it came to things to do locally and what to do over NYE. They even booked our taxis for the evening, however the company they used (VIP) I would not recommend as they abandoned us at Perlan in the early hours of the morning, see other review for details. Not at all the hotels fault but would like to hope they no longer use that taxi company for their customers.
The location is ideal, the only down side was that coaches cannot stop near the hotel (about a 5 minute walk away) but that's common for any city centre hotel I suppose.
My only small comment would be that with a double bed it would be nice to have a double duvet rather than two singles. We had a double bed but single duvets in both our rooms which we did find very strange but assumed it was their normal.
Overall enjoyed our stay and would stay again!

+1
Convenient location easily walkable to the main sites in Reykjavik (Reykjavik is small regardless, but this hotel is in the center of things). Close to multiple tour bus pickups, lots of restaurants and bars. Which is both a blessing and a curse. Right across from bars, which at least on summer weekends, seem to only go quiet at about 4 or 5am. Right afterwards the street sweepers go to work. While the hotel provides earplugs (and a sleep mask, also critical for summer) if you are very noise sensitive, you should ask about getting a room on the side away from the bars.
Decent sized. Comfortable bed (note for those used to the more "American" style bedding, it's a duvet and no top sheet). Tv with a number of international channels. No coffee or tea items in the room. Toiletries are in bottles attached to the shower wall, seemed OK, but I used my own. No moisturizer, as I'm noticing in many hotels lately. Typical hotel hair dryer. Plenty of hot water in the shower, with that good geothermal aroma.
On the main floor there is some sort of kitchen/ common area. Maybe during pre-covid times it was used? Right now it's just storage. I see other, older reviews mention breakfast being provided, so maybe that used to be a thing. It's not now. While they advertise daily housekeeping, I'm not sure what that consists of, as over a multiple day stay my towels were never replaced, and sometimes my trash was not emptied.
Overall a relatively good, affordable (for Reykjavik) pick. Would consider it again.

Staff: friendly and helpful
Arrived early and luggage was stored until check in time.
Location- great right in the centre
Solo traveller-stayed on 6th floor
Room: I didn't find the room that small as with other comments but I can understand why other travellers may feel this way.
The room feels very new and clean.
As this is a city centre hotel, it is expected that you can hear noises from other establishments, this would be the case in any other city, and I feel other comments are unfair to this hotel, as a city centre hotel is of course in a busy location.
Side note:I really liked how in the lift, there is an explanation on why the hot water smells on 'rotten eggs' and provides a reason, that its not the hotel's fault.

I stayed in 3 different hotels in the city (one right in the middle of Laugavegur and the other far out of the center ) and this was my favorite. Location is excellent. Walk up and you’re near the old harbour. Walk the other direction and the street becomes Laugavegur and you’re near the church.
Single room was tiny but I think this is typical for European boutique hotels. There is an old school lift that holds maybe 2 people and a suitcase. But the room is very modern and hip. Very clean rooms and comfy bed and pillows. It smelled like fresh laundry.
Hotel is right in the middle of everything so the noise can be bothersome if you want to take a nap or sleep early. There is a square nearby with street performers, plus pubs and restaurant all over, and you’ll see and hear the planes from the local airport flying by. The noise seems to settle down later in the evening or the windows are very thick. I didn’t notice the noise too much by the time I went to sleep.
The man who checked me in and woman at reception were so kind. The lady was so sweet and helpful. The room doesn’t have a kettle and she went out of her way to get me one and said feel free to use their kitchen area as needed. There is a small dining area and kitchen in the back. They don’t serve breakfast at this time but there are places nearby to get food in the morning. She said they stopped breakfast service since Covid.
Bus stop 3 for tour pickups and airport shuttle is a quick walk down the block (in front of Hard Rock). Taxis can come in front of the hotel.
Wifi was very fast.

Yes, its a hotel and its in the City Centre. A small hotel that is getting tired in places. Rooms are small and some of the furnishings are showing signs of age. Beds are very comfortable and bathrooms are clean and well equipped. The location is very good for downtown Reykjavik, close to harbour and tourist bus stops etc. Lots of restaurants close to hand. Irish pub opposite, American bar next door. Can get noisy! Overall value is strong. Ok for a short break.

No, if there was a restaurant in the hotel it is closed.
The hotel does not have parking on site; I don’t believe any of the hotels in the center of Reykjavik do. You can park your car at no cost along the side streets outside the center of the city.
I have always parked my car along Öldugata street. If you take Túngata west away from the center, uphill to Ægisgata you’ll see a church on the left. Turn right (north, I think) and you will come to Öldugata. There is parking along the street for a few blocks and also parking on the next block, which is Bárugata. These are residential streets with lots of available parking.
This is about a mile (20 minutes walk) away from the hotel, and it has always been free each of the multiple times I have been in Reykjavík.
Parking in the city/public car parks nearer to the hotel can be very expensive by the day.
Hope this helps.
I don’t know. I didn’t feel like I needed it whilst there, so I never looked for it. I’m sorry I can’t answer the question.

Manchester, United Kingdom116 contributions72 helpful votesHi all,
We are staying at this hotel this weekend and I was wondering if there’s a shop nearby where we can buy bread, cheese etc? Thank you.
Yes, there’s a good little supermarket on the same street (Austurstæti) which sells the basics.
Larger supermarkets like Bonus and Kronan are within walking distance too, but about 10-15 minutes away.
I did not use an iron during my stay in June so I am not sure if one is available. I would suggest you contact the hotel. Staff was very helpful.
