Welcome to the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, where Icelandic history and style meet. Once a 1900’s department store operated by Consul Thomsen’s family, this charming building has been renovated with modern amenities and nods to Reykjavik’s vibrant culture. It’s a quick walk from our city center hotel to Iceland Parliament, Harpa Concert Hall, the Laugavegur main shopping street, and top restaurants.

This is a really lovely hotel. The rooms are great and quite large for European standards. The bathrooms are really great! The staff was friendly and efficient. We got an amazing upgrade to one of their suites as a diamond member, it was an incredible room! The deluxe room was also really nice. Breakfast was nice. The bar was also nice and you get a free drink each night as a diamond member, which was very generous. The location of this hotel is perfect, you're exactly where you want to be in Reykjavik.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at the Reykjavik Konsulat and enjoyed the hotel immensely. Having had a totally different experience than the other review from this month, we found our room to be clean and well-stocked throughout our entire stay, including the complimentary snack/drink refrigerator in the room. Breakfast, while unchanging day to day, offered a wide variety of items, both hot and cold. The food service staff were friendly and kept the area very clean and fully stocked. The evening social hour (complimentary at our status level with Hilton) was comprised of one included drink per person and one small appetizer that they offered to replenish as requested. While not the most lavish social hour we have seen offered by a hotel, we found this to be more than adequate. The spa bath was not only very relaxing but also EXTREMELY clean and the two shower/locker room areas were as nice as what is found in most US spa retreats...plenty of towels, robes, toiletries, etc. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful, with offers to secure taxis, print testing results, recommend restaurants, etc. Finally, the location of this hotel was ideal for us, allowing us to be close to many shops and restaurants while also allowing for very little nighttime street noise. We have been fortunate enough to travel throughout Europe, and I must say finding a hotel of this high caliber in a country generally known for its eclectic hostels and beautiful campgrounds was a very pleasant surprise.

Picked this hotel as part of an Icelandair package, and definitely feel we made a great choice. A little tricky to find at first, but once you do it is in a super convenient location, and just minutes from Bus Stop 3, which we got to know very well as this was the departure point for transportation to/from the airport and other tours. We stayed in a Deluxe King and felt it was the perfect amount of space, with a modern bathroom and lots of nice amenities (complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks, bathrobes/slippers, etc.) The breakfast included in our room stay was delicious and included standard (American) fare like bacon and eggs, but plenty of pastries, smoked fish, skyr, fruits, etc. We did not leave hungry! The happy hour is great, and the social hour (complimentary drink and bar snacks) was very much appreciated. Front desk was very pleasant and helpful, as was the bar staff and breakfast staff - super nice people.

Only things I'd suggest for improvement are the addition of some drawers to store clothing items and a way to improve the noise from both the street and interior doors. Other than that, no complaints!

My sister and I recently got back from the most wonderful long weekend in Iceland, made even better by our x2 night stay at Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Curio Collection By Hilton. The location of this hotel is perfect but its what's inside that makes it even more perfect. I travel a lot and I have to say this is one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever experienced, it isn't massive in size but it has everything you could ever need...including avocado, different fresh berries and a delicious ginger shot...the gluten free brownie is also a delight and I'm not gluten free!
The rooms are spacious, the shower is simply wonderful and the best addition after a day out in the cold is the Bath House on the lower ground floor. A gorgeous hot bath with sauna and shower facilities, the ideal place to order a cold bottle of prosecco...which we did!
Too relaxed to leave the hotel we decided to eat at the GOTT restaurant attached to the hotel, best decision we could have made. Our waitress Atler was wonderful, she looked after us from beginning to end, we had the fresh fish of the day and the Thai vegetarian casserole, we shared the dishes because we couldn't make our minds up, we wanted everything on the menu. Both meals were a taste sensation and we couldn't have been happier with our choice, though we could have eaten everything looking at the menu and what everyone else had on their tables! I also thought the value was excellent, given Iceland is known for being expensive, this was completely reasonable and of an excellent standard.
I couldn't recommend this place more, thank you to all the staff at both the hotel and restaurant who looked after me and my sister, it was perfect from start to finish.

One would expect a unique, memorable experience from this hotel given the price of its rooms as well as the fact it is considered a Hilton Curio Collection property. However, little is exceptional about this hotel other than its location and the service of the bartender “Chris.” Indeed, the hotel, in most areas, is just good and, more commonly, average. Many of the reviews of this property are by people who seem to have stayed a short time. However, if you stay a longer period of time, you will see that the flaws are many and that hotel staff are inadequately trained or supervised. One huge problem is the breakfast. Yes, it is abundant. But while I was there, the hot food was the SAME every day for 7 days and most of the time the food was lukewarm or cold with the poor excuse that equipment ordered to keep the food warm had not yet arrived (is it that hard to think of a solution?). Housekeeping was mediocre and inconsistent with reminders constantly having to be given to supply certain goods; no consistency in what was given by housekeeping staff; and items consistently not restocked. My room TV went down 3 times during my stay yet no one took action to ensure that a loose ethernet cord was replaced. Sanitizer wipes in the gym were dry (no one obviously bothered to check if they should be replaced). My worst experience was when I returned very late at night from one of Reykjavik’s ubiquitous late night Northern Lights tours it took me 10 minutes (when it was freezing outside) to get back into the hotel because someone was either asleep at their desk or inattentive to the door “buzzer” or sounds at the door. Not once during my stay was I addressed by name or did any staff member remember my room number even though I was at the hotel for a week and wore the same jacket/hat/mask the entire time. The only time I was addressed by name I was rudely called by my first name when checking out as if the staff member and I were long-time friends. I would not recommend staying here unless it will be for a short period of time or you have points you can use.

This property just reopened right before we arrived, and we feel so grateful that we were able to stay here! It is a beautifully unique property with extremely interesting historical decor that pays attention to minute details. The front desk was running a bit of interference because the hotel had just opened, but everyone seemed to be working very hard with regards to teamwork, as well as customer service. Artur at the front desk was always so helpful and welcoming, and the gentleman who was woking the happy hour at the bar ( I did not catch his name!) was incredibly friendly and cheerful! The happy hour was lively, with free drinks and appetizers that were delicious. Our room was absolutely beautiful, with all the amenities. The one area of concern we had was being right over the famous hot dog stand that was open until 4 am. We were concerned about the noise, but the hotel used extremely thick glass, and even as a light sleeper, I didn't hear anything! The location is right in the heart of Reykjavik and extremely easy to get to. It is right around the corner from wonderful restaurants, and a five minute walk to the heart of all the shopping and activity. It was a wonderful stay!!

There is so much to love about this property. You cannot find a better location for getting around Reykjavik, and it's also about a 2 minute walk from a bus stop which is a central stop for tour pickups and airport transportation. You are surrounded by great restaurants and close to the main shopping area of the city as well. I enjoyed the included breakfast buffet, and found the staff helpful and welcoming. My room had a super comfortable bed and one of the biggest bathrooms I've ever seen in a European city hotel, with tons of counter space and a terrific shower.

My only complaint is that my room looked right over a very popular local hot dog stand, which is very popular at all hours of the day but particularly between the hours of 10 pm-2 am. As the weather was pretty mild during my stay, and the HVAC system in my room was definitely geared towards heating rather than cooling, it would have been nice to be able to open the windows while sleeping. I quickly learned that this was a recipe to being woken up by loud partiers and a bad night's sleep, but with the windows closed the room got quite stuffy overnight which also impacted my sleep quality. If the in-room fan or cool air ventilation had been stronger it wouldn't have been a concern, but I totally understand this is not logical for a country where the temperature rarely rises above 60 degrees Fahrenheit, so what I would recommend is requesting a room on the opposite side of the hotel, especially if you are a light sleeper like me, or have small children. It was the one downside to what was an overall excellent stay and wouldn't dissuade me from visiting this hotel again.

We recently stayed at this hotel while in Reykjavik. This hotel is centrally located to bus stop # 6. There are 2 entrances because the hotel corner location. The hotel is a small/ boutique hotel with 2 small elevators. They don’t have many food and/or drink options. I highly recommend BYOB. The room was well appointed, the water didn’t smell like sulfur, and the linens and towels were plush. The room was big enough for 2 people. The bathroom had a large walk in shower, which was AMAZING. The toilet room didn’t have a light so it was small and dark. The overall room had a dark vibe and the lights were dim. The hotel had complimentary breakfast because I’m a Hilton Gold member. The breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, yogurt, smoke salmon, Mellon, bananas, cereal, bread, coffee, juices, and teas. The front desk staff was very friendly and house keeping was attentive. You are able to drink the water, I recommend brining a refillable water bottle, they have water in the lobby. When initially researching hotels, I wanted to stay at the Marriott Edition, I’m glad I picked Hilton, the location is more centrally located. Overall, I would stay here again.

My partner and I booked two nights here for the start of our Icelandic vacation and we were wonderfully impressed.

The hotel is beautifully designed, a modern twist to a classical design with the rooms being intimate and spacious (we stayed in the king deluxe room).

The location was perfect, everything is within walking distance and I would 100% recommend the church! Along the way you can see all the cosy coffee shops, souvenir stores and loads of small businesses.

Dinner at the restaurant is pricey but the food was prepared very aesthetically and was delicious. Breakfast was more than adequate and had great variety however I would have liked the waiter to take orders for drinks, apart from that it was lovely!

The staff at the hotel were all so lovely and very helpful especially the bartender. The receptionist gave great advice on where to park and pointed out the free parking after 16:00 on Saturday until Monday! Saved us some money!

Could not fault our wonderful experience and I would like to extend my gratitude to the staff for a great experience.

10/10 worth the money and would stay here again in the future!

We arrived at the airport with a large group from the US early in the morning. All of our luggage was transported to the hotel where the staff expertly stored it until our rooms were ready in the afternoon.

Registration was handled perfectly and with a smile. The staff told us that Iceland has the best water in the world so we should not waste our money on bottled water. They were correct.

The hotel common areas are very pretty and are very new. The common area bathrooms are down one level and were extremely clean.

Our room was beautiful. The amenities in the bathroom were top of the line. And the water pressure in the shower was great.

The location is right in the middle of where you want to be. We were walking distance to everywhere. And the famous hot dog stand is just outside the door from the bar.

I highly recommend this property.

We had a drink in their very comfortable bar area and a wonderful buffet breakfast the next morning.
