Detailed Reviews
On the + side: Location is ok. About 10-15 mins walk from the center. Small kitchen we have access to.
What I did not like: Beds were way too soft (like it was hard to get up from them -and we are in our 30s, so I can not imagine for elderly-), bathroom was very humid and not that clean, not one to welcome us if we arrive after 4pm (we had to enter a code to get in), building is not well maintained from the outside and the main door does not lock well (but it is really safe in Reykjavik so that was not such an issue!)

Loved this place. Cheap and cheerful. Don't expect the ritz, and if you are the fussy sort, not for you. If you have travelled and like character, it's great. Friendly staff and cheap delicious breakfast. Close to the city sights and main area. 10 mins walk to most places, inc the bus station after the airport. Clean room and bathroom. Very warm and cozy room, and ok size. Constant hot water supply in bathroom with constant heat in room. Very good free wifi. Netflix was no problem on a night. No TV in room, so don't expect one. Bring a tablet or laptop with Netflix. Free tea and coffee in kitchen area

Stayed for a week. Very relaxed atmosphere, super-friendly and helpful owners and staff. The guesthouse feels homey yet there is enough in terms of personal space and it is quite calm. Well-recommended.

We stayed a night here and the location was fantastic. Inexpensive, amazing room, great bathroom, excellent location (we walked to downtown Reykjavik and back multiple times), nearby parking can be found, easy check-in/out. I will definitely book again whenever I go back to Iceland.

Stayed there for one night only. Price was very cheap, staff was great and it overall felt like a very friendly place. Beds were cozy and room was tidy. The only thing that I didnt like was that the room we had was right at the entrance to the house, but that is nothing compared to the beautiful lasy that gave us keys from the room :-)

Close to every downtown walking destination. Very clean accommodations. Staff was easy to get in contact with when not on site. Other house guests were very pleasant and picked up after themselves. Plenty of street parking in a not overly busy neighborhood

This is located quite close to the church in the centre of the city but benefits from free on-street parking. It was the best value accommodation we experienced in Iceland and Reyjkavik. The double bed was very comfortable and there were great views over the city and its surrounds from the bedroom. Clean and good wifi signal. The breakfast would have been good value at 5 Euros but unfortunately we had to leave too early in the morning. Nice to find affordable accommodation in the city centre!

- No one present for check in, all went via telecom at the door
- No sink in the bathroom
- Water from shower smelled like eggs
- Uncomfortable bed
- No breakfast included in the price
This is not worth paying 100 euros / night for and this is also not deserving of the title guesthouse - rather hostel. If the price was lower I would be OK with the above "points of improvement" but I would have expected more for this price.
On the plus side, everything was relatively clean (except for the blood stain on the pillow cover).

Captain Reykjavik Guesthouse is located 450 meters away from Hallgrimskirkja and easy to reach both by car and by walking. There is a Bonus supermarket in 10 minutes walking distance and you can get to the main shopping street in 15 minutes. It is a quiet neighbourhood so do not expect any disturbance. The rooms are clean and you have everything to prepare your meal in the kitchen. The breakfast is satisfactory and as you take your shoes out, you have a feeling of home. It is a cheaper accommodation considering other places in Reykjavik. Also they give unlimited high fives :)))

This was a lovely little guesthouse, clean and staff were friendly. There's roughly 1 bathroom between 3 rooms so no problems with showering etc. Breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day. Location was great we found everything we needed with a 15 min walk. My only qualm was because it was so quiet and small every sound was loud i.e locking the bathroom door or flushing the toilet etc. But to be honest I wouldn't let that put you off! Also it's handy to have the kitchen to make things as eating out is expensive!
