The Sand Hotel by Keahotels boasts immaculate cleanliness and excellent service, with staff members that go above and beyond for guests. While rooms are praised for their comfort, some guests find them a tad cozy and note issues with noise and lighting. The hotel's central location is a hit for its proximity to attractions, though it comes with the caveat of nighttime noise. Amenities, especially the comfortable beds and varied breakfast, are well-regarded. However, additional costs for certain services have led some to question the hotel's value proposition.

Fabulous hotel in the heart of Reykjavik, hotel is spotless and all the staff are pleasant and helpful. The rooms are warming with the most comfortable bed I’ve ever stayed in on vacation. English channels on tv, espresso machine and fridge also in room which was a bonus. As it was my wife’s birthday we received a nice birthday message in the room on arrival and complimentary drinks vouchers which was a very nice touch by the hotel.
Breakfast was also included and manageable with lots of cold options from breads to cereals, yoghurts and smoked salmon. We would highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone staying in Iceland.

We stayed in the hotel for a week whilst visiting Reykjavik;t hotel offers beautiful elegance from the interiors. The hotel is positioned in the best location, staying in a room at the rear of the hotel offers quiet peaceful sleep in such a comfortable bed with smooth white bedding. We can't wait to return soon

We stayed at the Sand Hotel for 6 nights in early Jan 2020, and I'm so glad we did! The hotel is on the street with shops, restaurants, and cafes. It's a couple blocks from the Sun Voyager, the Hallgrímskirkja church, and several bus stops which made our tour pickups very convenient. The breakfast included in our rate was good! Fresh fruit, breads (fresh from the Sandholt bakery), meats and cheeses, smoothies and skyr (with toppings bar) were delicious. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and the rainhead shower helped us warm up after Aurora hunting. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This hotel is very central to just about anything you need in Reykjavik without it being too noisy.
Our room was basic, fairly small but very comfortable. The coffee/tea machine was okay but the water never got hot enough which was a shame.
There were no drawers or wardrobes so we hung our few items on the 6 hangers and kept our underwear in the suitcase and our outer clothes over the chair.
We had to dry our hats and gloves on the bathroom floor as that was the only place with heating.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious, all cold but plenty of choice from cereals and overnight oats to smoked salmon, freshly baked bread, salad, eggs and avocados. There was fresh fruit, juices, tea, coffee and smoothies.
If we ever return to Reykjavík we would stay here again as it was great value for money and happy hour at the bar made the drinks a little more affordable.
My only complaint was the workmen making an awful hammering noise from 10am to 5pm on a day when we were snowed in for most of the day.

Situated right on Laugavegur this is a brilliantly central hotel if time is short while in Reykjavik. We were on the 3rd floor right by the lift but it could not be heard during our stay as the doors and carpets are so thick.
Much has been said about the lack of storage in the rooms. They are small and a little thing like having a couple more hooks to hang coats would have made a big difference. And having some storage in the bathroom too as the shampoo and gel was on the table in the room!
The bed was incredibly comfortable, the rain shower fab after a day or night on tour. It was good to have a coffee/tea making machine and a mini fridge. We bought our duty free on arrival at Keflavik as it is expensive in Iceland and it was great to keep this chilled.
Breakfast was included, not something that all hotels provide. There was a good selection of cereals, yoghurts and juices. Gluten free bread was available on request and the normal bread seemed to have been made fresh in the bakery next door.
We really enjoyed our stay and if you are looking for a centrally based hotel - look no further.

Dear TheAFCWombles Thank you for choosing Sand Hotel and for taking the time to write this review. We are happy to hear that you had a nice stay with us and that our prime location and breakfast was to your liking. We are sorry that the room size was not to your liking and we would like to use this opportunity to share with you that we do offer different room types so our guests can choose the category that is best suited to their occasion. For future stays we would recommend our junior suites or suites, we are sure that due to extra spacing you will have more enjoyable stay with us. Should you decided to return to Reykjavík, it would be our pleasure to welcome you again to our hotel.

Just got back from sand hotel and had a great time. It is very clean and modern. Beds are super comfortable and big. Lovely and warm inside the hotel. Lots of fresh food at breakfast. Great central location, off one of the main streets, 5 min walk to the bus stops for some of the excursions. Even though it’s on one of the main streets still quiet inside. Included in our room was fantastic toiletries, Nespresso coffee maker, hairdryer, fridge, robes. Staff friendly, would recommend staying here.

Myself and two friends stayed for three nights, very comfortable clean rooms, good selection of food for breakfast. The hotel is situated centrally with easy access to walk around Reykyavik. On checking out on Thursday morning we were unfortunately stuck in the hotel as all roads were closed due to the bad weather, the breakfast room/ lobby became very busy with lots of people and all the hotel staff very calmly and efficiently found more tables and chairs to accommodate everyone, when breakfast was finished they also laid out facilities for warm coffee or water for everyone if required. We needed to find accommodation for that night and Marketa who was on reception was incredibly helpful, she went out of her way to ensure we were accommodated in the hotel. She had regularly helped us throughout our stay with booking taxis, checking information on our tours but went above and beyond to ensure the stress of being unable to fly home was diminished. Thank you Marketa

Stayed at the Sand Hotel with my husband while celebrating our anniversary! We spent our first 2 nights here drove around the Ring Road and spent our last 3 nights here, no i did not want to stay anywhere else! I loved everything about The Sand Hotel from the vibe to the rooms to the staff. There was nothing to be upset about.

The location worked for us as we loved walking outside and knowing there was shopping and food to be found everywhere and we did not have to use the car to get from point A to B.

After vigorous research and booking another hotel close by and canceling that booking due to the great reviews at Sand Hotel, I was a bit nervous and concerned.

The hotel is not your usual big hotel energy, its vibe is small boutique sexiness. The design of the front lobby is chic and glamorous.

Our first few nights we had a room with a balcony which allowed us to leave the door open and get some cool air as it was quite stuffy with the door closed.

Room was small and CLEAN like super clean. It had all the amenities, the bed was comfortable and yes the shower was a bit difficult to maneuver and we had a bit of a leak but when we called down to ask for a plumber someone came up and fixed it.

The breakfast here was the best breakfast on our trip to Iceland, if you love carbs then the amazing breads that came from the 100 year old bakery next door will leave you thinking about them for 100 years. There was lots to choose from and never left feeling hungry or unsatisfied.

The cheese danish and the ginger shots not to mention the coffee and yogurt was enough to get your day started.

DO NOT EXPECT a hot breakfast and honestly who needs one when you have such an amazing spread.

The desk staff here was amazing and I wanted to shout them out because they were so patient and kind with all of our questions and concerns. Thanks to EM, Katrin and Leke they were the BEST!! I am plotting ways to get back to Iceland and stay at the Sand Hotel again!!

My husband and I stayed two nights at Sand Hotel. First of all, the hotel is situated on arguably the most popular street in Reykjavik. Most of the attractions and restaurants are within the walking distance, and it is very convenient.
There is a downside to the location, and it's not necessary the parking. We were able to find a street parking fairly quickly for a fee which is cheaper than most of the cities. However, we found that dragging the luggages down arguably the most popular street in Reykjavik did annoyed us a little. Perhaps because our expectation was so high due to all the great reviews and ratings we read on the websites, perhaps we are so spoiled by bellhops and valet parking attendants around the globe or perhaps we were exhausted coming back from a long drive around the island.
Anyway, once we made it to the room, it was all good. Room is tastefully decorated with comfortable bed. Although we did have a little problem figuring out all the light switches.. Water pressure of the shower is excellent.
They serve freshly baked bread during the breakfast, and it was very delicious.

This is a beautiful hotel and the location is perfect. It really is right in the heart of the city. It’s surrounded by amazing restaurants and cafes and is very easy to get to from where you transfer drops you off. We had a small double room and they are quite small and so next time I would maybe go up a room size just for a little more space but the room is decorated lovely and it had the best shower ever!! The bed was so comfy and the room had lovely touches like the coffee machine and dressing gowns. Our suitcases were full due to needing plenty of thermal layers and so couldn’t pack usual things like a hairdryer but the rooms had it all. I loved the huge bottles of body lotion and shower gels in the room... I’ve even ordered myself some online since being back home. The breakfast was fantastic. They have a range of smoothies/yoghurts and even ginger shots you can help yourself to. The bread (from the bakers next door) is beautiful. Would definitely book here again!

Yes, my recollection is that our room had a station with tea bags, cups and kettle. Tea (coffee, croissants and fruit, too) was also available at the lobby in the very early morning for those returning from tours. We got in between 1:45 and 2:00 am.

We had to leave very early to the airport and it was way before breakfast time. There was coffee and croissants in the lobby if we wanted to have something before we go. Just double check with the hotel if they still do that.
