This hotel has superb rooms, but pathetic breakfast & doubles up as a hospital; yes....a hospital. Everything about this place is just bizarre. You truly wouldn't believe you're in Finland. Outside are just carparks upon carparks! If you wish for scenery; absolutely forget it.
I cannot imagine a better hotel to prepare for a major operation.Quiet and comfortable with excellent snacks available, served with a style to reprove that one doesn't need to travel further to get the best service. Sorry for making compliments even while they are due!
I'm very confused, I paid rate for average 4 stars hotel but I didn't find most of hotels amenities and services. In Room, there is no Coffee supplies, no glasses, Bath supplies are very poor and the reception staff, outlet staff and housekeeping staff are close to be a Hospital reception team. No Room Services, only a very average breakfast in a very small outlet. lunch and dinner upon request and it is very average as well. entrance of the hotel is the same of the hospital and lobby every day full of patients, doctors and other medical staff. It wasn't convenient at all and I think that their rate is very high comparing to services that you got.
I stayed this hotel for 2 nights with a wife and three kids(6,3,1year) during 19 days vacations in Scandinavian countries. As we are on touring for 19 days in Scandinavian countries and this hotel is the first place to wash our clothes, I sent e-mail to hotel to confirm if there is a self-laundry facility (even there is detergent!) before booking. <Good> 1, Great sauna! Located in Top floor and it is huge. I enjoyed great time with locals. 2, My room type was “family room”, which was not one-big-suite room, but two connecting rooms consist of one small size room and one medium size room. You have two shower rooms and refrigerators. Total one sofa bed, double bed, single bed. 3, Fantastic and friendly staff. 4, A microwave is in restaurant so you can use this to make your dish from outside hot. We got some food from super market near-by and had a great dinner… 5, I was impressed that there was a small business card type picture on the desk in the room which show who’ve cleaned my room. I’ve never seen this kind of card and appreciate one lady and her job who made us stay very comfortable. 6, Breakfast is good. You have waffle (self-cooking)! <Bad> 1, This is little bit too demanding but there was no kettle. I am not sure why but I came to know Finish are the people who drink coffee most in the world but there was no kettle. I stayed two hotels in Finland but both doesn’t have kettle. Maybe they can spend little money to furnish kettle each room. 2, You need to pay small money to park your car outside (5.5 EURO). No need to pay weekend.…
The hotel is connected to the hospital but we never felt like we were in a hospital as it has its own entrance. As before, we had a hard time finding it. This has to be one of the cleanest hotels I have every stayed in. The rooms are very modern and it has a large bathroom which is not common for Finland. We had a modest buffet breakfast included with the room. Because we were on the weekend we had free parking until 8 am and if we stayed passed this time we had to pay. That would be a reason not to stay again.
We spent two nights at Norlandia. It was peaceful and the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was good with both warm and cold foods. The air conditioning in the room was a bit loud during the night. I was disappointed that there was no water boiler in the room like there usually are in hotel rooms. You could rent a water boiler from the reseption for 10€/day, but that was way too much for a cup of tea. All in all, the hotel was fine to spend a couple nights in.
Very nice place here. Fast and reliable WIFI. If you do business at the hospital, you can walk to all the buildings. Rooms are typical Nordic style: two single beds pushed together. All in all just a solid hotel. Will be positing more as I explore more.
The feeling is mixed: from the same lobby you go to the hotel and to a hospital. Despise that, its a good hotel. Rooms are clean and the breakfast is good (and included to the room rate). We've been there with a family and went again. The location is not very central so you need a car, but otherwise it's a good place. Would go again.
This hotel is situated in the Tampere University Hospital and Polytechnic area. For travellers with cars or bikes it is an excellent stop when exploring the area. We were a 5-Person family with 3 children and two adjacent rooms with a door in between was very handy. Very clean and allergen-free rooms and good breakfast. Recommended as great value for money.
Although it's a little bit far from the city center (about 3km), what i like about the hotel are the very hospitable and accomodating staff. One thing i did not expect with this hotel is the lack of toiletries and free bottled water so i guess that is something you have to be prepared of.
