Only here for a short stay but lovely helpful staff and a beautiful place to stay. The staff will happily lock your luggage away safely if you arrive before check in. The hotel looks good from the outside but the inside is amazing. Beautiful dark wood everywhere reminds you of yesteryear. We were lucky and had one of the rooms with a balcony and a beautiful view of the river. When we come back next will stay longer and definitely in this hotel.
We stayed in a superior double room equipped with a private sauna. The room was very nice and there was a great view across the city. A coffee machine was a nice surprise. The pillows were a bit too soft to our taste and there could have been some more electric sockets in the room. The hotel staff is very friendly and relaxed, we felt ourselves really welcomed. The building is filled with history and renovated with a good taste. The breakfast was very good and it was served in a beautiful hall. The location is perfect, close to the centre. So, it is hard to find any reason not to choose this lovely hotel when staying in Tampere.
During our stay new covid regulations came into force. We returned from a very busy day to be confronted with a polite security guard asking to see our covid passports. On scanning the UK document it was not recognised even though we had 2 vaccinations plus booster. It also didn't recognise image on mobile phone. We were unable to join our colleagues for dinner that night and were confined to our room. However after a days work the following day we went directly to a restaurant with our colleagues and our documents were recognised by their scanners as they were at other subsequent venues and at the airport. I suggest that a hotel group with such a reputation falls short of its responsibility to its clients if the staff do not have access to up to date equipment as in this case. We spent a very unpleasant evening as we were worried that we might not be allowed to board our plane if our certificates were unrecognisable. Thankfully that did not happen but a very stressful time was unnecassarily placed on us because of this. As to the hotel our room was extremely warm at night as the radiator was unable to be turned down lower than 14 degrees. We propped open the window with the iron. Also sockets for the kettle were not able to be used near the hospitality tray.…
Private trip to sightsee Tampere Location of hotel is great, 10 min walking from train station. There is a bistrot downstairs and sadly no other dedicated bar. Although there are a bunch of sofas and couches in the entrance area.
Tammer is radiating history and well-renoved respecting history. Lobby and breakfast room are beautiful. Rooms are bit small but combine well old and new. Old-style toilets with high toilet tanks and bathtubs underline this. Rooms have good selection of amneties (iron, ironing board). Hotel did not seem to have a gym. Minus for a business hotel. Sauna was closed due to covid. There was a restaurants down-stairs. Not too many reasons to linger at hotel, but as it is very central, this was not a problem. Fabriikki and Finlayson renovated factory areas are just next-door. Parking is limited. There are city 6-8 parking places in the front of entrance, 18€ day. You can either pay at the reception or through apps. There are parking garages close-by but it means you have to drag luggage all the way to hotel. Breakfast was good. Ambiance of breakfast hall is a major plus. Reception was swift and polite. But all in all self-service hotel. All in all, you pay much for historical ambiance (often lacking in Finnish hotels) and central location.…
