- TRANSPORT
You are close to Amagerbro Metro station (next to Amager Centret) which is about 6 stops from Kastrup Airport (36DKK for single, 3 zone ticket); you're a short journey from Christiania is you wish to see Our Saviour or Freetown; buses to Nyhavn / Nytorv are accessible from the bus stops just outside.
- COFFEE FACILITIES
Please note, you may need a travel kettle if you want coffee in your rooms- and you'll need to purchase some cups too. Alternatively, there's the bar. We did go downstairs and ask for cultlery for our own food, and they were more than happy to help.
- TOWELS AND CLEANING
Towels are provided and are changed when you display the green card on the door handle. Our room was serviced every day- we ate breakfast alongside the housekeepers, and they seemed perfectly nice. We repeatedly made sure that nothing was taken or moved in our rooms, and we had no problems- we didn't even need to use our safe.
- SECURITY & SAFETY
Security is good. You have key cards for each floor as well as rooms.I believe at 2am, you can't get in to the front, so do be careful when you go out late. If like us, you aren't used to Denmark, note that the staircases are not lit all day- press the small switches on the wall, and you'll be fine. The lift is old and small, but I liked putting heavy cases in there and meeting them upstairs.
- NOISE
It's not too noisy unless you open a window. We were on the side of the hotel facing the bank. We stayed for 4 nights and I'd say the only one where the street was loud, we had three windows open and something major was going down. The snorer in my room was the only trouble.
- BREAKFAST
Breakfast is 0630-0930, and it is lovely: juice, fresh coffee, rolls, cheese, salami, cereals. If you want breakfast, you need to disclose that in your booking, as breakfast is £10/day per person.
- AMENITIES DOWNSTAIRS
A Fakta store is downstairs next to the pub; a few other stores and kiosks are easily reached on Amagerbrogade. I would personally recommend Rimini (head north up Amagerbrogade) for an authentic Italian. The bar downstairs also offers an indoor smoking lounge. The bar is the same place as where you eat breakfast
- GOOD VALUE, GOOD STAFF
Our stay was five nights and our whole party agreed that we'd stay here again. The staff are friendly, multilingual, and helpful. There is a can-do attitude, which you rarely get. For the price, it's a perfect gem in a central location- perfect for travelling anywhere in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Do note that international cards are charged extra 5%, I believe.
After we checked in, we were advised not to take the lift as it often gets stuck and you can become trapped for up to half an hour. Our room itself...the floow was sopping wet from recently being mopped and the mattresses were stained yellow. I went to reception to ask for towels to sop up the water so we could walk in our room and was told the towels would be an extra charge. I explained why we needed the towels and the reception said "if we don't like it here we can get a refund and stay elsewhere".
After our rude interactions with the reception/gentleman at the front, poor room amenities, questionable bar/pub, we decided to check out. We were there a total of 15-20 minutes and did not touch or use anything in our room. We verified multiple times that we would get a FULL refund for the 3 days and would not be charged any penalties or fees, hotel agreed and issued a receipt in Danish.
Expedia contacted the hotel for a refund and the hotel granted a 2 night refund and said we stayed in the hotel for 3 hours. The gentleman/reception/manager at the front lied to our faces and told Expedia a different story.
Again, if you're looking for a hostel, this will meet your expectations, however, if you're looking for a hotel I would strongly advise going elsewhere. We checked into the Imperial Hotel for only $200 more the full 3 night stay and it was Exceptional in every regard.
I made a booking via hotels.com 2 months before the date where the agreement was that I would pay on arrival. When I arrived at the hotel, my booking was canceled with the reason that there were problems with the payment. (Which I had just spent at a restaurant) If you want to be sure of your booking, do not choose Hotel Amager.
2 broken slats in one bed. Not even a single glass to rinse your mouth with. No towel for hands (but beach towels). The most boring breakfast, holey furniture in the cafe. An elevator that was not in operation.
So have never been to a worse place
They canceled the reservation and never gave a refund. Also, they didn't help finding another hotel. They left us on the street with nowhere to go..
We've been trying to get a refund for 3 months and nothing so far!
"Haven't the faintest idea: maybe ask for room that look like those that are shown on the hotel's web site. Specify a decent bed."Read full review
