We did a self-guided walking tour offered by hosts Craig and Sasha. It included accommodation, luggage transfer and some meals. The walking was through pleasant countryside where we met almost no one else. The accommodation was in B&Bs, including Craig and Sasha's own Posada del Castano, in small towns. Each town was different, but all were pretty, with old buildings, cobblestoned streets, and a central square with cafes with outdoor seating. Almonaster, la Real with its 10th century mosque was a particular highlight - we spent 2 nights there and were glad we did. The pace of life is slow, people are friendly, the food and drink are good, and Craig and Sasha are exceptionally generous, helpful hosts.

This is a simple, but very comfortable guest house, run by the lovely Craig and Sasha. It is well situated in a beautiful village and is very central for some stunning walks. Breakfasts were sumptuous, and meals in the two restaurants in the village were delicious. Do give this place a stay if you are visiting the region.

Stayed here as part of an 8 day Explore trip as a base for walking. Based in a really pretty village with two bars and restaurants. We had a double room with en suite bathroom which was quite big. Lovely fresh breakfast. Nice to get back from our walks to a pot of tea! Craig and Sacha are great hosts.

Had a lovely time here in the hotel , very peaceful. I had great fun walking and cycling in the mountains around the village and it is nice to sit around in the little square with a beer in the evenings.

The stay here was a welcome interlude in a very busy week long itinerary in Andalucia. The accommodation was comfortable, peaceful, and homely. One got a real insight into village life in the area. Very hot while we were here so the longer of the two walks set off at day break. Craig has encyclopaedic knowledge of Andalucia which he imparts with constant enthusiasm

A lovely break away from it all, in he hills in a lovely historical village with a square and a fountain and two little bars and a wonderful church. When I visited there were storks living in the church tower, I saw bulls, horses walked in the hills and enjoyed fresh woodlands and good food. The posada is sweet, the rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable and I had a view of the courtyard and a small balcony. Ideal for catching up on some rest and getting away from it all. Recommend renting a car and visiting the surrounding villages and Sevilla.

we stayed here for 2 nights as part of an Andalucian Explore trip - the hostel is the family home of our guide Craig and his wife Sacha with 2 teenage children. It has a maximum of 8 rooms for guests with a nice place to sit outside, healthy breakfasts, rooms aren't very large but all have ensuites. The family cat and dog are always around and very friendly. Stairs are quite steep and most rooms are either up or down stairs so not good for anyone with mobility issues but then as the village is in the middle of no-where and has steep roads it wouldn't be a good place to visit if you do anyway! Beds were ok, space limited, ideal for 1-2 nights. basic amenities as you would expect in someone's home. Great base for walking in the area. Perfect for nature lovers. Shared free WiFi code with us immediately

Lovely, tradional posada in rural Andalucia. A perfect base for a wonderful walking holiday. The hosts, Craig and Sacha, go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. Castano del Robledo is a tiny spanish village, within the Sierra de Aracena; whilst only an hour and a half out of Seville it provides a wonderful, quiet and relaxed location to enjoy this beautiful area.

I wanted to spend a few days walking and birdwatching in the Sierra de Aracena and various reviews suggested the Posada del Castano would be a good base for this. I absolutely loved staying here for a variety of reasons. I did get lots of good advice about local walks (and other services) and was provided with maps and information even though I hadn't booked onto one of their official walking packages. There was easy free parking a couple of minutes walk away. The accommodation was lovely and comfortable and full of character and everything worked. Best of all was the laid back and relaxed atmosphere - I really was made to feel like an old friend who had just happened to pop round,

My wife and I stayed at the Posada as part of a week of walking in March 2015. The Posada was very nice. Sasha and Craig were excellent hosts. Craig's suggested walks and walk notes were excellent. Very pretty and quiet part of Spain. We stayed at the posada for three nights then Craig had arranged stays at hotels in other villages to round out our trip. Most of these places were excellent.
