Hospitable and good value. Very reasonably priced food and drink, welcoming polyglot (polyglotte?) patronne, enjoyable food and views over Funchal - and some peace and quiet. Everything we wanted after doing the cable car up the Monte, Botanic Gardens and toboggan run.

We stayed at Casa do Caseiro for eleven nights in August 2018. This wonderfully quaint and cosy bed and breakfast is just about perfect in every way. Our room had a lovely balcony with stunning views across Funchal harbour, extending all the way from Ponta de Sao Lourenco to Cabo Girao on clear days. Housekeeping was really great and our room was always cleaned very promptly and to a very high standard throughout our stay.

Stefania our host was incredibly welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. During our stay, she bought green tea and Weetabix for my wife's breakfast at no extra charge, arranged an early morning taxi for us to hike at Pico do Arieiro and also prepared very early breakfast for us on several mornings when we needed to catch early busses and ferries. In fact, she was such a great host that we felt like the bed and breakfast was like a second home.

The hotel grounds have a lovely terrace, well kept gardens, a small communal kitchen and a great secluded swimming pool. Although located on a steep hill, high above Funchal in the parish of Monte, the hotel is very close to two bus stops, the Monte toboggan run and several cafes and shops.

If you are looking for great value and excellent service then this place comes highly recommended!

Took a little bit of finding, but when the local taxi driver asked me for directions,I feared the worst! But that probably added to the delight of eventually finding this glorious haven of refuge. Stephania is a brilliant hostess, she gave me lots of useful information ( including printed bus timetables for the local 19 & 27 services - 1 week unlimited local journey pass - ā‚¬22 ! ). Breakfast on the delightful terrace is basic, as expected, but when on day 2, I produced a beefsteak tomato to augment it, I was told not bother again, & a sliced tomato was supplied each day for the rest of my 10 night stay. Very good local bars / bakery/ restaurant within 5 minutes or so walk ( predominantly level ) plus honesty box bar on site. Came alone in November, just booked to return in January with my 84 year old mother. Spotlessly clean rooms & lots of people of different ages & homelands make for a lovely relaxing & interesting stay. Don't miss it !

I had a short stay in Casa Caseiro and could have happily have stayed for much longer.

The owner, Stephanie, could not have been more helpful and went to great effort to make my stay comfortable. The hotel is set uphill from the main town and offers fantastic views of Funchal and the ocean, the decor is very tasteful and the garden is delightful to sit in for breakfast or to relax in after a busy day sight seeing. There is an outdoor pool to sit by on warmer days.

I highly recommend this hotel and would have been happy to pay much more than I did. I will be back.

I didn't stay here, but due to the fabulous things I heard about it, I had to share. I am kind of torn though, I don't want too many people finding out about this little gem!!!

I actually booked 2 rooms here for some friends and family members for an event close buy, and contacted the place directly to confirm the rooms. Staff replied quickly and were very friendly via email. I actually had to cancel one of the rooms as one of the groups couldn't come, but this was also easy and quickly confirmed. In terms of price/quality and overall experience you'll be hard pushed to find anything similar.

Anyway, my friends were very happy with everything, especially the breakfast, the pool, the atmosphere and pretty much everything else.

They loved it so much that they extended their stay one extra night :)

Lovely guest house on the hill, a few kms from Funchal. 36 euro for a double room...a bargain! The owner, Sara, is very kind and provided us with a lot of useful information; there is a swimming pool...and that is a plus after a long day in hot Funchal! Courtesy bar with moderate prices; the breakfast is various and abundant (fresh fruits, bread, butter and jam, cheese and ham, 2 eggs the way you like it and bacon).

We had the best tomatoe soup and garlic bread of our stay in Madeira: homemade and served with a warm service! It's perfectly located on the way from the Gondola back down to the city and the terrace has a beautiful view.

The B&B is set in a lovely old building, very charming. Nice large rooms with high ceilings and old style furniture, with great views down to Funchal and nice gardens. It is possible to walk to the centre of funchal it takes about 20 mins but is a steep walk down it's not possible to walk back up,as it is just too tiring but you can get bus number 19. If you buy one of the cards you can load money onto it and each journey is about ā‚¬1.30. Breakfast was minimal, I think more choice would have been better maybe some hot food, toast etc. Also the pool was quite dirty it had a lot of flies in it so that needed to be cleaned. There is a fabulous and really cheap restaurant called "MadCuba" 20 mins walk down which is a must do!

After our visit to Monte, we walked down and passed the Bred& Breakfast, at the right time to have lunch. I had a steak sandwich with lettuce and the rest had ham/cheese toast with a coffee.

Nicely priced, all included with drinks was around 14ā‚¬

Very friendly service

We stayed in Casa do Caseiro for a week and would recommend it to anyone. The place is nice and well kept, the owner is very friendly and really helpful. Breakfast at the beautiful terrace is a treat every morning - enjoying the view over Funchal and the harbour.
The only disadvantage maybe is the long and steep walk from the city centre up to the house.
On the Estrada do Livramento (a short walk up the street, then turn left), there is a bakery and - just follow the Estrada do Livramento a bit further- a restaurant (A Sete) and a small supermarket.

Cordialement
