Detailed Reviews
My Wife & I were very fortunate to be here during the current climate. We were tested for C19 upon arrival at the airport which meant we had to go straight to our room until the test result came through the following day. This meant we had to eat in our room. Pedro on reception suggested takeaway using uber eats, but as we had never used this before he kindly ordered on our behalf, paid out of his own pocket & we paid him back later when safe to do so. A fine example of someone going the extra mile to make life easier for the guest during a strange time.
Breakfast was simple & easy (the lady on duty who's name I forget) was just lovely, so helpful & always friendly. The Custard Cakes were superb!
She did a great job ensuring C19 practices were adhered to.
The room was spotless, C19 compliant & the maid did an immaculate job keeping it & the rest of the hotel clean.
Caroline & Fernando on reception were also wonderful, both extremely helpful with advice regarding Funchal, things to do on & around the island, never a chore & always a pleasure. Fernando also has a long list of fascinating facts! A great guy who loves to chat with a love of English music & football.
Overall, a great stay during this difficult time, if we return to Madeira we would definitely stay here, if not, we would stay at a Turim hotel in another location.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for a great stay!

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel!
What a wonderful hotel experience amidst these pandemic times. Could not have been happier with this choice--a small, but beautiful, sharp, clean, new hotel that is right in the old town center (much preferable over the hotels in the overly touristic part of Funchal). Had amazing views of the city from our room in the morning and at night with all of those pretty lights. Also had views of the ocean as well, which made for a perfect combination of getting a real taste of Funchal.
The hotel took very good care during these pandemic times, with hand sanitizer dispensers everywhere and making mask wearing while walking around the hotel obligatory. The continental breakfast was wonderful and they were also very careful and clean when it came to that. They also had the option of soy milk for me, which I appreciated.
The pool on the 7th floor was fantastic. While thinking we would not be able to use it during our busy week stay, my boyfriend and I found ourselves using it nearly every day after a long day of traveling throughout the island. It was a peaceful spot to end the day with beautiful views to still enjoy.
We cannot recommend Turim Santa Maria Hotel enough! We will DEFINITELY be staying at this hotel the next time we go to Funchal, which I hope will be soon, along with telling all others to do themselves a favor and stay at this hotel! It is great especially for couples and families with teens. I have fallen in love with the island, the city, and this hotel!!!

We stayed 7 nights in the hotel, we had a double room with breakfast included. The room size was great with all the necessary functions. The hotel has two bars and a small outdoor pool. The hotel were very friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast was good, a standard European affair (if you want Egg dish cooked these come at an extra charge😒 ). The location is great if you want to be in the thick of the town (5 min walk to the cable car).

We stayed at the Turim Santa Maria Funchal over Easter for 4 nights and had the best time here.
Everything was absolutely immaculate upon arrival- it's so hard to find hotels that maintain such a high standard, or at least we've been really unlucky!
The small things matter, like cleaners being thoughtful and replacing the amentities and folding our pjs whilst we were out for the day, the lobby calling up when our tour guide arrived at the hotel 🥲
Our room had a balcony which was so nice, we really did have such a relaxing time here.
The hotel has a small pool and rooftop terrace which we enjoyed pretty much most nights.
The rooftop terrace bar was super nice too, although the barman was very curt and eager to close up for dead on 11pm every night... Although saying this, his poncha was the best out of all we tried around Madeira, which did put a smile on his face after all!
The price for this hotel was extremely reasonable and especially as breakfast was also wrapped in. Breakfast was extensive and yummy.
The hotel is a short 5-10 minute walk from central Funchal, super close and also over the street from the Aerobus stop, so super convenient for absolutely everything.
We loved staying here and really hope to come back again one day.

This hotel is in a great location - in the middle of Funchal town and so within walking distance of everything interesting.
It is relatively new, so everything is well-designed, efficient and clean. Amongst other things, the bathroom was good and the bed comfortable. The rooms seemed to be a good size for a modern hotel.
All of the staff were excellent and spoke perfect English.
Breakfast is served downstairs. There was everything that we could imagine wanting and the quality was excellent.
On the top floor there is a restaurant. The food was good (if slightly "safe") but a bit more expensive than many restaurants in the town. Other places don't have the same view, though!
The top floor is a flexible area and so you can sit outside with a coffee or a cocktail and enjoy the wonderful view.
If we go back to Madeira, it is very likely that we will go back to this hotel.

We visited Funchal for a week during covid times.
Everything in the hotel looks new and was spotlessly clean. We booked a larger room with a balcony. In November it was very pleasant in the evening as the sun set over Funchal.
The room is well equipped, staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough to help.
Wifi was good in public areas but not good in our room.
Sound proofing between rooms wasn’t good. Several times a person next to us got home at 3am, had a shower and played the radio loud.
On that topic the rooms have a music system that comes on automatically when you enter the room. You have to turn it off. That was a minor inconvenience but it encourages others to play music when they otherwise may not - especially our 3am neighbour. Please hotel Turim find a way to make this off by default.
Breakfast was ok, friendly professional service and very covid safe - nicely spread out, staggered eating times, waiter service of hot items. Always there was a selection of treats including Portuguese tarts.
One night we went to the roof top bar. It was pleasant and has a lovely view of the lights of Funchal. The pool was cold (November and only 1.2m deep).
The location is fantastic. Just a few minutes to walk to supermarkets, the tourist centre and the commerce centre but far enough away to reduce any noise. From our room with doors closed we got minimal external noise.
We loved this part of town, eating in narrow walking streets. We’ve now moved to the Lido area and wish we had staid in town.

Amazing hotel.
Room- spacious, modern, extremely clean and beautiful.
The staff was polite, professional and very accommodating.
Breakfast was limited due to covid but still to very good standard and still offered the things i normally pick anyway so we did not feel we were missing out.
The covid procedures were in place- everyone absolutely everyone wore masks, there were plenty of sanitaziers on every corner, and it was extremely clean throughout all hotel. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was superb. I do not understand why does this hotel have so little reviews- its amazing!

We decided to sneak a long weekend and chose this hotel because it was keenly priced and centrally situated in the middle of Funchal. We were so pleased that we did. We were given a decent sized room with a beautiful view. Everything was new and scrupulously clean. Large, comfortable double bed with good pillows. Large walk in shower, safe that you didn't have to pay extra for and tea and coffee facilities. Lifts were efficient and clean. Breakfast consisted of a cooked breakfast, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms. Very tasty and fresh. Pastries including the famous pastel de nata(local custard tart, extremely delicious). Fresh fruit and a selection of cheeses etc. A decent coffee machine, I like my coffee strong and a helpful member of staff showed me how to do two shots of expresso with a jug of milk which made me happy. On the roof was the most lovely pool with views of the city at all angles, also a bar open from 3 till late. Staff were super helpful and produced an adapter for us, as we for forgot ours. We were thrilled with our choice, amazing value for money and we will be visiting again. Would heartily recommend.

We stayed 17-25 th September in Room 314 as half board through Booking.com. Good points - the reception staff are all kind and excellent in every way, Reception got taxis for us very efficiently. The room was very spacious, wooden floors and extremely clean, great shower and with a nice balcony, albeit looking over the car park. The rooftop pool bar is excellent with great views . We thought the breakfast was fine. Now for the disappointments. The WiFi in Room 314 is very variable - OK on an iPad mini but very poor signal or failed on a standard iPad. The "restaurant" is in the basement with no windows. The half board food is very poor quality and a lack of anyone else eating in the evening adds to poor atmosphere. The a la carte also is poor quality and expensive [though they did not charge us above the the half board after complaining] and it appears the chef is part time so the food is actually just precooked and reheated. The waiter pushes a wine called Periquita and indeed there are two full wine cabinets exclusively full of this wine in the roof bar with none other and it is priced at 15 euros per bottle. The identical wine costs 3.69 euros in the supermarket outside the hotel and tastes exactly like as you would expect from such a cheap wine. This is sad as we drank lots of very nice house wines across the island. There is no airport shuttle despite being claimed in the hotel description on Booking. Taxi to the airport is 33 euro. The beach is either 500 yards or 900 yards away depending which description you come across. In summary a good hotel that priced very much at the upper of end of market. They could improve by stopping any type of evening meal and stocking some decent house wines of which there are many available on the island. 1900 euros for 8 nights with no proper restaurant and half a mile to the beach.

This is a new hotel, only opened in September 2019.
We stayed there for 5 nights in January 2020 and were very impressed. The rooftop pool and bar on the 7th floor have spectacular views over the whole town, which is no more than 10 minutes stroll away. The rooms are very spacious and the bed very confortable. Other reviewer mentioned the coffee at breakfast, but we found it to be very good. The free included breakfast is very extensive with cooked breakfast as well as ample fresh fruit and pastries available.
Highly recommended!

Double and Twin Superior appear to have balconies. However, I would e-mail the hotel to check.
To be honest, the best views and relaxation area is at the roof pool and bar area so I would save my money with a cheaper room and use the roof terrace.
Yes. If you go down main road towards sea there are many restaurants and if you continue to old town there is a tremendous choice which is probably the best place to go.
Sorry just seen your question.. There is no beach only huge massive rocks/boulders
