The Pousada de Queluz is found in the clock tower building, next to the National Palace of Queluz, known as the " Portuguese Versailles " and the permanent residence of the royal family from 1794. The building of the Tower is by the architect and staff sergeant Manuel Caetano de Sousa, and served as a warehouse and as the quarters for the staff in service to the palace. With a unique and sumptuous decor, the Pousada de Queluz, D. Maria I, is a treasure waiting to be discovered and marvelled at. The air-conditioned rooms of the Pousada de Queluz are individually decorated, with warm colours and elegant wooden furniture. The Pousada is a point of reference for whoever is looking for the Lisbon business area, idyllically situated around 14 km from Sintra and 20 km from Cascais. It comfortable decor and its rigorous rehabilitation makes the 2 rooms an excellent choice, having been carefully reconstructed for the purpose of meetings and seminars. The rooms have natural lighting and access to the internet fixed of wireless, air conditioning among other characteristics. Free parking is also available.

We were happy to stay slightly outside core Lisbon, in Queluz, and what a surprise to find such an elegant pousada, across from a palace. The rooms are generous sized, well decorated and very comfortable. The breakfast was very generous, with lots of variety. We could park

At first sight we thought this was a Royal Church, but on closer looks we saw that the clock-tower apex isn't completely religious. A former housing for the Royal Guards protecting the Palace opposite, it has been beautifully transformed into a luxury hostelry. We enjoyed a

How much is the cab fare from the Lisbon Airport to the hotel? How long is the ride?
Hi, We booked our taxi through the hotel. The driver was waiting for us when we landed and picked up our luggage. He had parked in a very convenient location in the indoor parking garage. The fare was 40 Euros I think. Maybe it was 45 Euros, I don't remember. It was not 50 Euros. This was a very nice car. Immaculate in fact. Coming back to the airport from the same hotel we paid 10-12 Euros including a tip. The car and driver were good. He off-loaded us at a very advantageous place for getting into the airport; we are grateful for all of that. This was our very first time to Lisbon airport. Next time it might not cost us so much to get to the hotel from the airport. I don't know that either. Likely you could just get a taxi from the line-up outside the Arrivals; or wait with your belongings at the Departures entrance and hope to get a taxi departing the airport. It would be a gamble of course. Maybe just calling the Reception at the hotel and asking for a suggestion of a cheaper fare. Maybe ask them to arrange a round trip taxi originating in Queluz might keep your cost lower than we encountered. Best of luck with it!
