I think it's one of the most full-hearted top rating I ever gave as review. The location is central: Metro, train station, many sightseeing objectives, nice cafes are all within walking distance. The place looks enchanting. I love the huge lilies that welcome you, the design of the common area and the lush garden. Breakfast has moderate variety, but each product is top quality. Including the tasty bread, freshly squeezed juices and home made sweets. I loved that sweets, tea, filtered tap water remain all day at guest's disposal. It was so pleasant to have a coconut tart and a welcome drink when we arrived at 23.00 after quite a long flight. I appreciated all the details that contributed to make our stay as comfortable as possible (eg a bottle of fresh filtered water in the room each evening, a little gift and a card with warm wishes for my birthday). Last but not least: I am sure that all of these would not have been possible without Sara and Roberto's involvement. They were always there to help with anything we needed (information, the recipe of the coconut pie :P ) Many thanks to them and also to the ladies helping in the kitchen and with cleaning. They all made our stay there a wonderful experience.…
When the door opens and you are welcomed by Sara‘s wonderfull smile you just know: that was the good choice. Charming and helpfull staff in a wonderfull location just steps from Barreio Alto, restaurants... Rooms are large and comfortable, our had a small private veranda with cozy seats and coffee machine. Breakfast just a dream with fresh homemade pastries, quiche every morning. Wonderfull common library room to relax with a glass of delicious porto or moscatel(freeserving!).A perfect Lisabon trip has his start at Casa do Barao where you are treated like a real Baron. Thank you Sara, Moreno&Gigi Luxemburg
We first visited Casa do Barao a couple of years ago and obviously liked it so much that we decided to return. We enjoyed the great hospitality of the owners, the wonderful breakfast and the abundance of cakes that were available all day.. A great location for the centre of the city, good restaurants nearby and ideally placed for the metro, buses and trams. This time we also took advantage of a guided walk of the city run by Chill Out Lisbon and the meeting point is at Praça Luís de Camões, minutes from the hotel. To reiterate a recent reviewer our second visit last week was everything we had expected and more and we were also upgraded to a better room. The hospitality and friendliness of the lovely staff just as charming as before. I'm sure we will return to Lisbon and can't imagine staying anywhere else.…
We first visited Casa do Barao a couple of years ago and what a refreshing change it was. Such lovely people who gave us a warm greeting and the building itself was marvellous. A great location for the centre of the city, super restaurants nearby and ideally placed for the metro, buses and trams. Rooms at the “Casa” are well founded and the breakfast is first rate, Freshly made frittata everyday and great bread cheese fruit etc. The freshly baked cakes and the decanters of Port and Madeira provided in the lounge during the evening are a delight. Our second visit last week was everything we had expected and more. A unfortunate cancellation meant we were upgraded to a better room and the hospitality and friendliness of the lovely staff just as charming as before. If you like this sort of place then make a booking. Just leave room for us as we’ll be going back again before too longl…
Casa do Barao is located perfectly on a quiet street only 2 blocks from restaurants and the Metro. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the breakfasts (fruit, quiche, pastries, etc) delicious. A cozy elegant common room has port available for a nightcap with local flavor. Best of all, Roberto and Sara are gracious hosts, with great suggestions for restaurants, things to do, and ways to avoid climbing the hills of Lisbon (the escalators in the Baixa/Chiado Metro station, for example).
