Off the top: the best things about this hotel are the proximity to the airport, the well-appointed rooms and the kind staff. That said, everything else was so incompetent that we went from being upset to laughing - because, how bad can it be? Oh, wait, it gets worse! Upon checking in we were given our room number which appeared clearly written. However, when we got to “our” room, the key didn’t work. There was a helpful cleaning person on the floor and she looked at our room card and agreed we were at the correct room. She offered to open the door for us, whereupon the person who was already in the room, opened the door to ask what we were doing. It was not our room. When we went back to the reception desk for an explanation, the clerk flippantly replied, “oh yes, I hear my ones look like twos. This is a one. “ Next we ordered room service. We were told 20 minutes. 45 minutes later when I called to inquire, they said there was a “processing problem” and the room service ticket didn’t get to the kitchen. They offered a free crème brûlée as compensation. 15 minutes later part of our order showed up at the door (as an aside, the creme brûlée appeared to be vanilla pudding with cinnamon sprinkled on top.). When I pointed out we had only received part of our order, the very amiable fellow apologized and went off to get the rest of our food. When he returned, he said no tip was necessary because it was their mistake. Fair enough. Finally, we went to the restaurant in the evening. We were seated promptly and given drinks. We then placed our food order and waited 30 minutes. When the food was served, it was not our order. Not even close. We ordered fish and salad and were served rabbit stew. The staff apologized and took the stew back, but said it would be another “wait”. we had a timeline due to a work meeting, and explained we now only had 15 minutes to wait for our order. The food did not arrive in time, so we left the restaurant to throw ourselves on the mercy of room service again. In the meantime, while waiting for our original order in the restaurant, we observed a lot of what appeared to be animosity between the kitchen and the waitstaff. I don’t know what was happening at this hotel but the kitchen staff seemed to be doing a lot of intentional standing around with hands on hips, while the waitstaff scurried about trying to appease customers.

Hotel's Favorite
We did a day rate stay in June at the hotel after the misfortune of missing our flight from Lisbon to Manchester along with 12 other passengers (Lisbon airport was a nightmare the times we visited and that is quite unfortunate in itself as it largely services the country). Once we realised we were stuck for 12 hours at the airport, my husband and I tossed around the idea of heading into the city to spend the day but I was not dressed appropriately and extremely tired. I found there were two hotels close by. Prices were similar but we liked the look of Meila a bit more. This was the best decision. Larussa/Laressa (spell check) was one of the best hotel front desk people I’ve dealt with in a long time. We explained to her what had happened to us in general chit chat - and she showed so much empathy and sympathy and compassion, we instantly felt better! With just a few kind words! We were obviously feeling a bit devastated of having missed our flight but our encounter with this lovely lady made us feel so much better and lifted our moods. We checked into our room a bit earlier (the day rate is from 9am-6pm from memory). The room was a 5 minute walk from the airport, clean, comfortable and spacious. We were able to have a shower, brush our teeth, nap and order room service - and prepare for our later flight (which we didn’t miss!). Our room had cookies, tea and coffee facilities, and tv with a lot of channels. Even if the room and hotel was a total dump, just the help of Larussa/Laressa, I would have rated it full marks — proving just how important the right staff are to a business. From this experience alone, it has made me aware and open to future Melia hotels.

We did a 10 day roadtrip around Portugal and stayed here the first and last night of our trip. What a fantastic hotel! Literally 5 min walking down (or up) the hill from or to the airport. So so easy. Clean, great bar (food is *ok*), wonderful and big breakfast (starts at 4am), and really friendly staff. Also really like their sauna and pool area. 15 min to downtown (and the touristy parts of Lisbon).

We would caution all travelers to avoid utilizing this hotel extrwe were treated with extreme disrespect upon our arrival at 11 PM following a flight from Madeira. We had reservations and we’re actually sent away with a grin without checking our names or passports. We have never been treated with this much disrespect in a European hotel.

Exceptional one-night stay. It is very close to the airport—just follow the signs for taxis, exit the airport, look across the street, and then take the pedestrian walkway outside to the hotel, which takes about five minutes. The hotel is lovely and very clean—powerful and hot shower. The commute downtown is about 20 minutes using a taxi/Uber ($10), and it is well worth it if you want to save money or need to be close to the airport. The breakfast is plentiful (pastries, eggs, meats, bread, cheeses, pasteis, fruit, etc.). Huge shoutout to Goncalo Goncalves, who checked us in and out and provided helpful tips on navigating Lisboa during our short stay. We will stay here again.

Stayed here many times and very convenient for flying out of/into Lisbon airport. Can walk up a gentle slope to airport from the hotel in 5 mins. Breakfast is great here too. Only (minor) gripe is that A/C in the rooms is weak - if you like to sleep cool or cold

Restaurant food Having ordered a main meal of VEAL from the MENU THE MEAL DELIVERED WAS NOT VEAL, just a few slices of very tough MEAT full of CARTILAGE & FAT, a few bits of bacon left over from breakfast and a PACKET OF CRISPS THROWN ON THE PLATE, When I queried the meat it was taken away to be changed, came back UNEATABLE and more UNDER COOKED, I was then told this what the supplier sent. REALLY AND STILL ON THE MENU AS VEAL WHEN CLEARLY IT IS NOT VEAL. WHAT A RIPOFF
