A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Dear nfrois04, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Brown's | Downtown Hotel enjoys a privileged location. We are right in the heart of the city center, a few minutes walking distance from the main attractions and restaurants. Santa Justa Lift, Commerce Square, Alfama, Bairro Alto or even Time Out Market are easily reached by foot. We are delighted to know that you also love our equipped rooms. Staying at Brown's means to undergo hi-tech experiences. That's the reason you can find up-to-date technology, such as iPad or iMac computers, Marshall Sound Speakers, MediaHub and SmartTV. At Brown's we are also travelers so we do understand how comfortable is leaving luggage for a couple of hours after check-out. Like that guests can go for last minute shopping or enjoy that delicious traditional Portuguese meal or even walk around their favourite neighbourhood. We do hope to see you on your next time in town. Kind Regards, Brown's | Downtow Hotel Management

Is this a good hotel for a toddler of 1.5yrs? Thanks
The hotel is city centre and doesn't have any "outdoor space" really, so I'd say no to bringing young children. You walk straight out onto the very busy street.

A bus from the airport to the Rossio train station is 2 euro, and it is a short walk from there to the hotel. A taxi to the cruise terminal can't cost very much.

Is there car parking in hotel or in close proximity
Dear Vicki A, Parking in the historical downtown area of Lisbon can be tricky. Most of the streets are only for residents and parking can be very difficult to find. The hotel does not have car park and the hotel street car park is only allowed for residents However there are some underground car parkings in the area. Please check the full info of places and prices in parkopedia website. Kind regards from Lisboa

How much is a taxi to hotel from airport
Uber from Airport 17 Euros max. Uber is cheaper than taxies in Lisboa and maybe friendlier to travelers due to the bilingual staffed drivers Uber is providing globally.
