Hotel is gorgeous but there are a few cons. First off its smack in center of city-2 block walk to wherever you want to go. Staff couldn’t be friendlier. Recierved upgrade and free breakfast and free minibar as a Titanium. Concierge, front desk and even housekeeping five star service. Trendiest restaurant in town-Rocco-attached and bar and restaurant scene fantastic. I still give it 5 stars but rooms are small. Even with an upgrade to a $932/night room, you’re talking only about 300 square feet. I shudder if haven;t receiuved that upgrade. Not sure why hotel is double all others in area. Probably due to location but it is a new clean and well run hotel. If get a good price I would recommend
We absolutely loved this hotel. To start, the hotel itself is beautiful, stylish, and most importantly, very clean. We also loved the bar and restaurant. We had dinner at the restaurant our first evening there and it was the perfect way to start our trip. We also loved the delicious breakfast each morning and having drinks at the bar/lounge area in the evening. Our room was extremely clean and the bed was so comfortable. However, the one thing that really makes this hotel standout is the exceptional service from the staff. From the valets, to the concierge, to the reception to the hostess and wait staff at Rocco, literally, everyone who works at this hotel goes above and beyond to make you feel special. The energy of the staff is so welcoming and warm. This is truly a very special place. We cannot wait to return on our next visit to Lisbon. I would without question stay at this hotel again and again.…
We had 2 separate stays in the hotel. Each time, the room was clean and well appointed, albeit a bit small. Nice outdoor space in each of the 2 rooms that we stayed in. Bar in the hotel is excellent, as is breakfast. Servei was impeccable across the board.
We landed in on the red-eye and had requested an early check-in, prior to our arrival. We’re very well-travelled so were aware they may not be able to accommodate us. We had hoped for maybe a 2:00pm check-in (as opposed to 3:00pm), if we were lucky. They hotel staff utterly shocked us by placing the key in our hands just minutes later. It was shortly after 8:00am local time and there was no extra charge. Fan-bloomin-tastic! The check in experience set the tone for the rest of our stay. Our expectations were surpassed throughout. From the surprise of gourmet chocolates waiting for us in the room, to the very much appreciated valet car parking service (gratis), to the doorman happily chasing our clueless Uber driver down the street on foot, these folks gave us flawless, white-glove service. I must mention the amazing design of this stunning boutique hotel. It was the perfect combination of old world explorer charm, with an uber-sexy twist. Think hipster’s delight, meets seasoned traveler’s dream and you’ve grasped the zeitgeist! The gorgeous website photos are completely up-to-date and there’s no trickery involved. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a well-dressed large bed and up-to-the-minute bathroom reno. There a sweet little Juliette balcony, behind the double door window looking out to the charming street below. We also had plenty of places to plug in our devices, as well. There was little else one could ask for to have an enjoyable sojourn. Located in the tony Chaido district, you’re not only in one of the prettiest parts of the city, you find yourself in the centre of all the action. There’s shopping, historical sites, waterfront attractions, bars, restaurants and everything else a visitor could want, mere steps away. You couldn’t find a more central spot in town. Lastly, we should note that although I’ve included a photo of the beautiful adjoining bar, it’s ‘affiliated’, but not ‘part’ of the hotel. Same goes for the restaurant, Rocco. I state this because although we had a great experience at the bar, the restaurant service was disappointing in the extreme. We’ll be reviewing it separately since they are distinct businesses and it shouldn’t reflect on our review of the Ivens Hotel. In the past we’ve experienced stays at the Ritz, Four Seasons, Fairmont’s, Chateau & Relais, etc. and have never been more pleased with a stay – especially when comparing the bottom line. It was great value for money in regards to service, design, comfort and all-around satisfaction. We’d book The Ivens again in a heartbeat and would suggest everyone else do when visiting Lisbon! …
My wife and I checked in on a Monday and after a four night stay didn’t want to leave. We’ve stayed in many hotels around the world but have never experienced the whole package as well delivered as this. Every member of staff the quality of house keeping the decor and what a terrific atmosphere in the bar. Just fantastic. If in Lisbon and you can this is a must stay.
The Ivens is a swanky hotel with a hip vibe. Upon arrival we were welcomed by helpful staff in the modern lobby. We had arrived on an overnight flight from the US, so our room wasn't yet ready (it was ready by 10 am). The large lobby bathroom was a convenient place to freshen up before heading out on a food tour from Culinary Backstreets. The room was small, typical of city hotels. It was well laid out and felt new. The attached restaurant and bar had great drinks and food - worth checking out. With our Marriot status the mini bar was free (snacks and 2 beers, replenished daily). The front desk didn't mention this, we only knew from reading reviews. There is no lounge. The location is convenient, we walked to everything. It's a 20 minute uber to the airport.
We stayed here for a couple of nights in February. The hotel is very well designed under the jungle exploration theme. The color scheme, the staff's outfit, the decor down to little objects are all tastefully fitting to the theme, and the period it wants to evolve. The service (mostly fine looking young men) was efficient, as expected for a hotel of this rank and rate, though it could come off as somewhat cold and almost perfunctory. An exception was Monica at the front desk, who was particularly friendly and warm. The location in the Chiado district is convenient for sightseeing, shopping and dining out (fine dining options aplenty nearby). The room was clean, adequately equipped with wonderful Acqua di Parma toiletry and most importantly, quiet. There is a quite popular bar/restaurant attached to it, Rocco, which is as well designed as the hotel itself, but unfortunately my martini was too heavily on the olive taste.…
It was amazing! The staff the hotel the restaurant the location! The most beautiful hotel in Lisbon! It’s our third time in the Ivens and it’s always incredible! Excellent rooms excellent cleanness. We love and recommend !!
The interior of the Ivens sets standards. When you enter the small lobby, you get a WOW moment. The same goes for the in-house restaurant and bar - both are hotspots in the evening. In the morning, breakfast is served here. Be sure to visit the restrooms by the restaurant - selfie alert! The rooms are relatively small, but well equipped and the sleeping comfort is excellent. The location is good, it's in a quiet neighbourhood, just missing a nice view from the room. The centre is only a few minutes walk away. The staff were excellent - I felt at home, they took care of my special requests and even picked up a pair of trousers from the tailor which saved me at least 1 hour - thanks again. The quality of the food at breakfast or dinner was excellent - be sure to book in advance for dinner (as I said, its a hotspot in Lisbon now!). The Operations Director Antono and his team took excellent care of me, so I had a great stay and would definitely come back - the Ivens is a trendy and exclusive hotel that remains in one's heart. …
I dont think you can beat the hotel for its location a small walk to everything. When you walk in the hotel the style and furniture demonstrates the high standards. The check in was smooth and pleasant. My room was a king size room and while the furniture and decor was nice it had only a small window and if 2 were in the room it would be difficult to get around. That said as i was a Bon voy member I was upgraded for the last night. the breakfast was OK choice a little limited for quality was good.Exempt trying to get a hot pot of tea!! I was taken ill day 2 with a bad cold and throat infection and the staff couldnt have been more helpful and kind.Which again was very appreciated-thank you.
