This hotel stand as one of the best hotels we have ever been. The staff is wonderfull and the location just great. The room area really lovely. We are looking forward to stay there again. Soon I hope.
I had high expectations when I chose the Britania Hotel as the base to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary, and they were all fulfilled. Don’t be fooled into thinking that because it’s boutique it lacks something the bigger chain hotels have, in fact the opposite is true. This hotel is more personal, more welcoming, warmer, and truly a pleasure to return to after a day exploring this beautiful city. But that’s not all. Populated by ever smiling and helpful staff the hotel is located just off the Avenida da Liberdades within a short stroll of the Avenida metro stop. Breakfast is excellent - freshly squeezed juice, Nespresso coffee, tea, pastries, eggs, cereals, bacon, sausage, and the bread rolls. Mmmmm. Port, pastries, tea and coffee free every evening from 5-9pm, and free port in your room too. Linen changed every day, cleanliness excellent, And, English language channels on our TV, and not just news channels. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in the Britania Hotel. We were greeted upon entering our well appointed junior suite with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our wedding anniversary, a great start to a stay that we were saddened to leave. Highly recommended and thank you for a wonderful stay. We’ve already recommended you to friends and we will be back.…
From the moment we walked in to the moment we left (a bit earlier than we expected due to the Coronavirus situation) we had nothing but good experiences at the Hotel Britania. The breakfasts were wonderful and included fruits, pastries, yogurt, cereal, eggs, meats, etc. The port wine at afternoon tea and in the room was an awesome touch. Our room was spacious and we truly enjoyed it. The slippers and robes were an added bonus. The Art Deco style set this hotel apart from others. We always prioritize location when it comes to our choice of hotels and this was a 10 out of 10! We will be back!
We couldn’t be happier with our stay at the Britania, located in a quiet road close to the theatre and the Avenida metro. We loved the character of the hotel: it’s Art Deco look, the preserved barber shop, the photos and the gallery of past tableware. But its the staff that make this hotel so special: what a team of consummate professionals in every department! From the correspondence when making a direct booking (rescuing us from near disaster after Expedia cancelled our reservation) to the presentation of a glass of bubbly and Pastéis de nata with birthday candle, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Every member of the team was polite, friendly, helpful and efficient. In terms of facilities, our room was large. The bed was enormous! And blissfully the curtains were heavy and well- lined, ensuring a good night’s sleep. And for once there was a dressing table with mirror and light (so often lacking in modern hotels set up for business use). On entry, there’s a lobby - ideal for hanging up outdoor coats. The lobby also held the mini bar (which meant no humming fridge in the room) and tea and coffee making provisions (although no milk for tea). The bathroom was well appointed: the large bath had a rainfall shower as well as hand held attachment; the provision of robes, slippers and Molton Brown toiletries added to the sense of old fashioned luxury. Port was provided in the room (as well as available for afternoon tea alongside a light black tea and pastels de nata). And the hotel also provided a complimentary bottle of bubbles for my birthday. Breakfast included a huge range of lovely fresh bread and pastries; fruits, cereals, yogurt, fresh juice, as well as cheese, charcuterie and eggs. I was delighted there were teapots, and my husband loved the coffee maker. We appreciated the free entry to the art gallery, which inspired us to explore another part of the city and climb yet another Lisbon hill for a view down to the port. Thank you for making my birthday trip a memorable one.…
I moved to the Hotel Britania for two nights after staying at a different hotel closer to the water for a business trip. The hotel itself is a unique boutique-type hotel - my room almost reminded me of a boarding-house style room. I stayed on the fifth floor. The main elevator is located in the center of the hotel - it is truly a "lift". Upon walking into my room, there were three separate rooms: a small foyer type area, a bathroom on the side, then the main room with the beds. The decor reminded me of the 1940's - 50's. Compared to the other hotel I stayed at, I almost felt like I was at someone's house (which was positive for me). Two downsides with my room were that 1) the walls seemed to be paper-thin - I heard the people in the room next to me loud and clear. 2) I could hear traffic on the street below well into the night, even with being on the 5th floor. The hotel itself is a block off the Avenida da Liberdade, which is great for walking to local stores/ downtown area. Very convenient. The road that the hotel is on seemed to be a bit iffy. While I didn't have any problems, I'm not sure that I'd walk by myself at night there. I did not have the breakfast. There was a small sitting area near the hotel restaurant/ bar that had small treats for hotel guests in the afternoon.…
