Established in June 1964, Hotel Grão Vasco was the first big hotel in Viseu. Hotel Grão Vasco was designed by the architect Alberto Pereira da Cruz who signed other remarkable projects such as the Museum of Caramulo, Hotel Alvor-Praia, Hotel Delfim, Hotel Baia and Hotel Cidadela in Cascais among many others. Due to its magnificent location in the heart of Viseu, you will be able to enjoy the tranquility of your hotel and feel the city in a unique way thanks to its proximity to the most relevant monuments, street shops, shopping centers, cinemas, museums, cafes, bars, restaurants, handicrafts and hairdressers which contribute to an even more pleasant stay. The Grão Vasco Restaurant, a city’s reference, invites you to get to know the traditional Portuguese cuisine, specially the Beiras single flavours as well as the great wines from Dão vineyards. Surrender to the charms of Viseu and come to meet the Hotel where there have been so many national and foreign personalities.

Spent a night here with my wife. Location is good, and the Franciscan church is just a short walk along with the main town square. The tulips were in bloom when we visited. Hotel is quite old though and needs a facelift/renovation.

Our tour guide called this hotel "vintage." Since he was only half our age, I can understand that 1980 is vintage to him. To us it was just old and in dire need of updating. Everything seemed dingy and somewhat dirty. The included breakfast was mediocre at best. We are not
