Booked on lastminute.com and never been before. Had a big family room with lots of space (on 3rd floor) and good size bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bath. Good quality toiletries (soap body cream and shower gel included). Very happy to have free water on arrival and a Nespresso coffee machine with 10 pods that got replenished daily. The hotel is ideally situated just minutes from Zurich city centre and 2 mins walk from a tram stop. In fact we paid for Zurich travel passes but were never checked for our tickets on trains or trams during out 5 day stay!!! Hotel breakfast was ideal. Lovely coffee, croissants, little caramel cakes, gorgeous Bircher muesli, and wide selection of breads, cheeses and breakfast meats hot and cold. Love the cherry and plum jams. Staff are always smiling and very welcoming all the time. Booked a trip to Jungfraujoch (Europes highest train station) at the reception. Was jaw dropping excursion up a mountain in a cable car and back down by mountain train. Expensive but worthwhile to see snow, experience the cold and have some fondue with snow capped mountains out the window. Zurich is a mix of standard commercial shops and the most expensive on the planet. Our main reason for the visit was a trip to the Lindt chocolate factory and then the FIFA museum - both well worth a visit. The Engimatt Hotel is a perfect place to stay, just 5 mins walk from a big indoor shopping mall (with a massive Coop.) The only downside to our visit was the general cost of everything - Switzerland is Expensive with a capital E. I must compliment the restaurant staff who were great, despite some very rude residents insisting on onions and chillis for breakfast. I recommend staying here with families. Everything is spot on.

I was with my wife and daughter staying at the ENGIMATT City-Gardenhotel hotel. The hotel is very well located, absolutely silent and peaceful street and just 300 m from a Tram station that takes you in 5 minutes to the center (1.6 km) of Zurich. The hotel is new, modern, extremely clean and well maintained. The staff are always friendly and polite. The breakfast is great. Anyway, nothing to complain about, just strongly recommending this hotel for a very pleasant stay in Zurich.

We had a nice stay here. The room was nicer than we expected, quite spacious, and had chocolates waiting for us on our pillows. Mentioning pillows, our double bed had 2 for each of us, instead of the typical one per person. There was a good size balcony which we appreciated and the windows had rolladens which we love. The bathroom had a shower with a tub which was great for us with our younger kids and is something we miss when it’s not there. Also in the room is a mini bar with a few drink options including some alcohol (not sure of the specifics because we didn’t partake) as well as a small safe if needed.

We didn’t know when we booked that breakfast was included which was great because the food in Switzerland is insanely expensive compared to anywhere else we have been in Europe. The quality is way better than anywhere else, too, but you definitely pay for it. We were supposed to make reservations for breakfast but we didn’t realize it, but they accommodated us we appreciated very much. I can’t say if it were busier that they would have been able to, so reserve your table! Breakfast was buffet style and included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, lots of bread options including croissant and the crusty German style bread, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice… We also had cappuccino and hot chocolate made fresh for us by the wait staff.

All of the staff we interacted with were quite kind, spoke English well, and took good care of us. The hotel is near a couple of tram stops but not right in the middle of the action of the Altstadt. We walked there from the main train station and enjoyed the sites, then took the tram back in the morning to make our scheduled agenda items on time.

Where should I start? Huge cobwebs at the front door. Dirty windows in the room. The water in shower did not drain. The shower detergent/shampoo had been diluted with water to such an extent that the name shampoo is no longer justified. The shower head, probably brand M-Budget, was so calcified that only a thin jet came out. The room and especially the doors were decorated with an indefinable brown dirt. All in all - dirty and too bad. Breakfast would cost a proud 28Fr. The staff was unfriendly on arrival, not to say pissed off. In the morning to the question: was all well the above items were acknowledged with a shrug. Positive were the comfortable beds, the good and quiet location for us. However, we will not come back.

We ware attending the Zurich marathon in April 2024. Engimat City-Gerdenhotel was named Sponsor of the Zurich Marathon.

When asking, whether we could take shower after the Marathon at 1 pm the answer was yes, but with a surcharge of CHF 75 ! This is the Engimatt definition of hospitality.

Sorry, you did not get what it means to be a host. Never again with this attitude and unfriendly staff !

We are very sorry to hear that the issue during your stay disappointed you in this manner. We do inform guests of our check out time at 12 noon and because of check-in at 2pm, we do need to charge extra if you wish to reserve a late check out. In comparison to other hotels, who do not even offer the possibility of a late check out or charge an even higher fee, CHF 75.00 for a late check out is a reasonable fee. Unfortunately we do not have spa facilities where we could have let you take a shower at no cost.

Reservation made without the possibility of a refund, I had to cancel due to a problem.
I called the hotel explaining the situation and at first they told me to contact booking.com (false information because the hotel is the one who can decide on a possible refund, not booking), then they told me to call them the next day.
The next day a hotel manager answered me telling me these are the rules and we will not refund you anything.
The seriousness and service of a hotel can be seen from these things, the arrogance of the manager and the lack of understanding of the problem only demonstrate their misery.
I warned that I would leave this review and they replied that I was threatening: no, I'm just telling what happens if a guest has an unexpected event, this is what happens and customers need to know it.

They could have kindly offered me a partial refund as a gesture, it would have been a gesture of kindness and understanding instead they opted to keep the money at all costs.
I leave it to the readers to judge.

Avoid at all costs!
We had booked a room which was described as two double beds with a Mountain View with a photo of a modern clean room. When we arrive we get an old room with sofa bed and a noisy street view. We asked them to find a solution as this was not the room we booked. Reception took hours finally we went down to check and no solution was found. After begging to talk with the manager, she responded rudely that nothing would be done. No refund, no discount, no concessions at all. If we wanted to leave we would still have to pay the whole price. We were treated horrible and ended up paying for a horrible hotel we decided to not even stay at. Honestly very disappointed, we recommend this to no one and will be reporting the hotel to the Swiss Tourism and Hotel Association.

Dear Ms. Kobia As also advised via e-mail, you booked a room clearly advertised as having “2 adjoining twin beds and 2 single beds” – a direct quote from the room description on Booking.com – where you booked your room. Nowhere does it mention “2 double beds”. The “Üetliberg”, the city’s mountain, is visible from those rooms, which is why they are labeled as rooms with “mountain view” – perhaps you did not see said mountain as it was dark outside upon your check-in. As our name suggests, we are a city hotel, so naturally there will be streets when you look outside of the window. However, the street you are referring to is not adjacent to the hotel, but some distance away, with houses in between. We also have sound proof windows installed, which would be closed in the winter, so the rooms are really not noisy at all. The cancellation fee of your room was CHF 330.00, which we agreed to reduce to CHF 200.00 simply as a sign of goodwill. A courtesy which we did not have to extend, as the mistake was not made on our side. Best regards

Such a good night's sleep - the bedding was so warm and cosy, and the room so absolutely dark that we slept really well here...we nearly missed breakfast we slept so well!

Well situated near Enge or Sihlcity train stations, as well as having good bus and tram connections into the city - we walked it mostly, but good to know the options were there.

The rooms were a good size, very well kept and clean, and the fact each room had a balcony was a real plus. Staff on front desk were very helpful, and the breakfast was good with a variety of options to suit all tastes.

It is a good place to be alone, as the bathroom has a translucent sliding door, which does not provide sound or light insulation.

The balcony provides a beautiful view of the city, and the restaurant, LEAF, has an excellent menu, with good options for all tastes.

The services are five stars.

First time I stayed here and it was a great experience. The hotel is pretty small and is located on a quiet side street. The staff is very friendly and effective. The hotel restaurant is very good and not too pricy. The complimentary breakfast was good, maybe not the largest selection but all essentials normally found was available. The one thing I missed was that there was no Gym in the hotel. A bonus was the umbrella in the room - it was needed

Hello: We can arrange a pickup at the airport, this costs approx CHF 90.00. Otherwise you can easily catch a cab at the taxi rank at the airport, costs approx CHF 70.00. I suggest: From Zurich Airport: Train S2 to Enge station (17 minutes travel time - ervey hour x.06 and x.36), then change to Tram 13 towards Albisgüetli for 1 stop (or five minutes’ walk) - costs approx CHF 6.00. We are looking foward welcoming you and wish a save trip to Zurich Bruno

Hi - there are plenty of cabs at the airport, there is no need to book in advance. If you need a cab in the morning to go to work, the hotel will book it for you. There is no kitchen to do your own cooking. There are plenty off restaurants closde by. You can also get food delivered from outside to the hotel.
