We stayed early Jan in room 515 (double room, river view) which is a well appointed, clean and spacious room and as described, actually was overlooking the river. The Hotel is in a fantastic position merely a 5 minute walk from the train station, the check in staff were very friendly and helpful and ensured we knew where we were in relation to the city's main attractions. The Hotel is positioned adjacent to tram stops (which seem to go everywhere) and overall it is an excellent location.
As I said it is well positioned and as we were here for only for 2 nights, it was perfect as we could just go for a short walk and be surrounded by many major attractions of this lovely city. There is a bar / restaurant on site which we didn't have a chance to use (our only regret) however it looked great so yes, definitely next time.
Overall we thank the staff for an excellent stay and will most definitely book here again should we have the opportunity to return.

Nice clean and secure room.
Location is great. One thing though (which doesn’t bother me), it’s next to a busy junction with trams and cars just across the bridge from the Zurich main train station. I think the room with the lake view will be rather noisy. So be aware of that.
The room has a proper capsule type coffee machine, and a variety of coffee blend is supplied, even decaf. And you can ask for more when needed.
I must comment on the shower floor, which is the best of material where even when soapy, it is not slippery.
First couple of days, there was a plate with whole fresh apples at the floor’s lift lobby. Nice!

Myself and my partner booked this hotel for 3 nights/4 days. We are from Scotland and this was our first trip to Switzerland.
Location 10/10 - 2 minute walk from Zurich HB (Zurich HB to Zurich airport is a 8 minute train), 5 minute walk from Zurich old town, long lane of brilliant food options less than a 5 minute walk. All round very good location.
Room 9/10 - We booked a large double with river view. Room was on the small side but was equipped with everything we needed and included a very comfy bed. Complimentary tea/coffee was also included. Only slight fault to be found was the shower. The water pressure was not the best and the shower head was leaking in 2 places and sat at an angle, despite this the shower still done the job and we enjoyed our stay. Blackout curtains were also a god send. Room was beside main road/tram station but this never caused an issue as sound was minimal at night and once windows were closed.
Service 10/10 - All members of staff were nothing but kind and helpful our whole trip from when we arrived early they took our baggage until our room was ready until we checked out. There was an issue with the hotel double charging my bank account which I did not notice until back home in Scotland, I emailed the hotel and this was promptly dealt with and cancelled so very prompt service from reception staff who answered the email.
Overall very enjoyable stress free experience would stay here again. Attached below is a photo from our hotel room window:)

Location of the hotel - Terrific location. 5-7 mins walk from Zurich train station. Nice river and its near a large Coop markt.
Service - Was grateful for a early check in and upgrade to their 'suite' and told to wait 10 mins as they were preparing the room. Seated beside the reception and 30 mins passed but was not informed though room was ready. Only informed when asked although the same receptionist saw us seating there and she was happily chatting with her colleagues.
Request to change of room as we do not prefer the layout of the suite. Was told by the reception to return after 3pm and they will arrange the originally booked room (superior double room). Back at 4pm, no arrangement had being made and wanted to send us back to the 'suite'.
Room (Do note this room review is based on personal preference) :
The given upgraded old suite room is on the top floor. Nice view of the river. But the odd shape of the room, lots of mirrors, low ceiling, very cramped bath room and limited lighting in room make the whole place looks dark. Probably we are not used to this design.
For the Superior double room, the room is terrific when entered. Looks newly renovated, large bath room, ample space for our luggage and nice beds.
But do note, if traveler who prefer view, choose other rooms. The room is on the 2nd floor and there are no view at all. The room windows are facing the pavement and bus stop. Pedestrians can just look into the room when passing by if curtains are not drawn. So basically throughout our stay, the curtains were tightly drawn.

We received a warm welcome on arrival and we were impressed by the tasteful decor in the reception area. Unfortunately, this did not extend to our room. It was small, cramped, dark and very hot. We had a tiny window that overlooked the street and an ugly building. We were given a fan, but it didn’t make much difference.
The hotel is in an excellent location, directly across the road from the station. There are lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance and we found that the ones closer to the river were more expensive. We enjoyed walking along the river and down to the lake to admire the boats and the many swans and ducks.
At breakfast time there was a selection of cereals, yogurts, breads and cold meat and cheese. In addition, there was scrambled egg and bacon. The chef will also cook an omelette or eggs fresh if required. The coffee and juices were served by a waiter and were of a good quality.
We had a drink in the bar one evening (almost ÂŁ50 for 6 beers) and were surprised that they closed at around 10:30. The staff were efficient and courteous.
We had not realised that Swiss electrics are different to the rest of Europe, so we had to borrow an adapter from reception for a 15 franc deposit. It was only later on that we realised there was actually a British socket built into the fridge unit! Such a good idea!
The room was cleaned to a high standard each day, although there was a strange smell. We put it down to the heat, because all surfaces were spotless.
The health club is across the road, not part of the hotel.

We chose this hotel for its central location and it could not have been better allowing easy access to the airport by rail and gray connections to the rest of the country. The hotel itself was well managed and the breakfast service was a particular highlight with the staff looking disappointed when you said you did not want any more juice or coffee. Despite the 35 degrees and a room at the front of the hotel our room was a comfortable temperature if you followed the very sensible guidelines in the room. Reception staff were also very helpful when we needed local advice. We would definitely return to Zurich and this hotel in particular.

Spent 2 nights in zurich.
Pros: staff was excellent and professional
Checked in early because we booked from their website, was very nice
Location was excellent
Their breakfast buffet is highly recommended
Cons:
Bedding uncomfortable, their king was 2 separate twins that were made up separately with a big crevice in the center. Not ideal for a couples weekend!
Room was also stuffy. Tried to leave window open during day, didnt help.
Noise was awful from down the street on saturday night until about 3am. Sunday night was fine.
Again a mixed bag.

I spent three nights at this wonderful hotel in Sepember 2022. I chose it for its central location right by the river Limmat and within easy walking distance of the central train station, even with luggage.
I pre-booked their best flexible rate through their website and requested a quiet room. The room was indeed quiet and facing out to the back which meant I could sleep with the window open but missed out on a view.
The room was very much on the small side but well appointed and perfect for just one person. Small but smart bathroom with a comfortable walk-in shower.
Everything was immaculately clean and comfortable, good WIFI and extensive choice of TV and audio channels.
The staff at reception were charming, helpful and very efficient. A special mention must go to the extremely well-organised and hospitable staff at breakfast: they were really in a league of their own!!
The Central Plaza Hotel does not come cheap but you absolutely get value for money!

I caution all travelers to be careful when booking. We booked a room for August 2020 and due to the pandemic had to cancel. We called the hotel and notified them. On the day of the stay we got an email indicating that they were expecting us, so we called and again advised them that we had cancelled. We also emailed them. They also were on notice that there were travel restrictions from the US. Yet, they proceeded to refuse to refund the payment of $331 dollars for the first night. These are extremely bad business practices for a hotel, and we will never consider staying there given the poor way in which this was handled. I recommend that if you decide to stay here, you get a confirmation from the hotel themselves because they will deny that you called and cancelled.

We chose the Plaza because it was so close to the main train station in Zurich. Only about 100 yards from the station was a easy walk even in the rain for us. Quick check in... had lunch in the hotel. Good service and good food. Perfect for a walk in the old part of town and even for a quick ride to the University. Rooms were clean and newly redone. Excellent water pressure and clean towels... reasonably priced ... would recommend easily.

Our rooms are equipped with an air cooling system.
No only 5 of the total rooms in the hotel have a balcony. However the rooms that face the river have a wonderful view. Weather permitting people tend to sit in the outside cafe area called the Central Garden. This area is open May to September. Way to cold right now!
Thank you for your message. Only a few of the Double Rooms with River view are equipped with a balcony. When you reserve a room you can ask for it. The double rooms (steet view) do not have a balcony. Merry Christmas.
