The Zurich Marriott Hotel is often celebrated for its modern atmosphere and well-maintained amenities like the M Club and Executive Lounges. Guests have called out the hotel's location as conveniently close to the train station and old town, despite a handful feeling it's a bit distant from the city center. The rooms are spacious with views, but some travelers have critiqued the cleanliness and noise levels. While the service garners praise for being friendly and professional, there are inconsistencies reported. A common sentiment among guests is that the hotel's pricing does not always equate to value, especially when faced with additional costs.

This Hotel could have potentially had the chance of being a good hotel, but whoever is managing this hotel is draining it into. A. Swamp.
The Breakfast is the worst, there is no ome here to greet you, no information is given on how to order or what there is, at the self service there is nothing!!
The executive lounge is closed, while at other properties they pay more in credit to compensate. The Marriott while also being more expensive only offers 10chf in an expensive city like Zurich to compensate.
There is nothing available at the breakfast, not even bread. Hygiene is a disaster, the tables the sofas are dirty from previous customers, and this is all while in a pandemic. A hotel that has over 500 rooms, only has 3 people and 1 waitress managing its breakfast.
The rooms are dirty, there is no water pressure in the rooms.

Total disaster this hotel is.
What a mess, get rid of the manager!!

First trip to Zurich and we wanted a hotel within walking distance of the train station as we planned several day trips via rail throughout Switzerland. After considering options nearby, opted for Marriott. I wished we had gone elsewhere. The hotel bills itself as a 5-star. Not even close. Marriott Courtyard has nicer rooms than the North Wing. Do not allow yourself to be booked into this section…it resembled a dungeon or a prison, we couldn’t agree one which one. The website shows renovated “Superior Rooms”…be certain you book these and insist upon them at checkin. Made the mistake of not adequately differentiating between “Deluxe” and “Superior” and it cost us. The front desk staff was curt and hostile to point of being rude and we had to fight to get extraneous charges removed at checkout, even though we had booked part of our stay with points. We tried the local restaurant. After we navigated the rat’s maze of hallways and stairwells to find it, it was over priced and underwhelming. We resorted to Room Service after that — which was surprisingly good quality food at a cost no more than the restaurant. The hotel is a business hotel — not for leisure travelers — and they are very busy hosting conferences and meetings. Thus, they are not concerned about the individual leisure traveler. The area around the hotel is sterile…no life and no restaurants nearby. We should have gone with our first choice - Hotel Schweizerhof. Will certainly try it on our next visit.

I wanted to give a shout out to the Zurich Marriott staff for making our 6 night Christmas Holiday stay in Switzerland so wonderful. All areas from Check-In, Concierge and especially the Executive lounge morning/evening was spectacular. The hotel is well maintained throughout including rooms, gym, executive lounge. We were impressed how the Executive Lounge was well stock from morning (great breakfast) through the day and into the evening (cocktails/food). The hotel is also in a great location, able to walk to the train station and old town in about 10 to 12 mins. The hotel is also about 20 mins from the Zurich Airport, be sure to have the hotel arrange your pickup/return and request Michael (driver) who provided extreme professional service. Michael provided a NO STRESS car transfer, thanks Michael. We had a junior suite with great river/city views and was lucky to enjoy a nice snow fall while we were at the hotel. We enjoyed the service, staff, and hotel so much we will be returning to the Zurich Marriott in August to celebrate my 65th birthday 😊, Fyllis in the “At Your Service” area has already noted my records, Thanks Fyllis. See you in August!

Once you enter the hotel, the lobby and the hotel looks luxury and the rooms even looks nice but be aware of what's covered by this.

I was surprised to find some bites on my body after the first night and i never knew what is it, i went to a clinic and i was told its a bed bugs bites!! i went back to the hotel and checked the bed and the suprise was when i lefted the matress! first the mattress looked disgusting and dirty and it was obviously a farm for bed bags, they were so clear that you dont even need to zoom to take a picture! see the ones i have taken.

The shock is that the hotel staff were not helpful as i was checking out immedaitly after i saw that, i told them that i wanted to speak to the General Manager but it was impossible to share with me even his email address and the front office staff did not know what to do other than trying to prevent me from reaching the hotel GM!

Marriott should not put their name on this property and i think the people who work there should not be Marriott employees either given their reaction and attitude toward this serious issue!

If you decided to stay at this hotel, please check the bed and the room before you close your eyes, believe me its not worth it!

Dear Alexpilot33, Thank you for your first Tripadvisor contribution! As we take those reports very seriously our Managers always would have time for you and would have undergone a full inspections of the case. Thank you for sharing the pictures, though those have not been taken in our hotel, as we have nowhere on property those lamps nor matresses. As you fonline post seems to be misleading and not truthful, please have it deleted. We have already contacted Tripadvisor to do the same. As mentioed, at Marriott we take all hygenic and health concerns very serious and the well being of our guests is the most important to us. With kind regards from Zurich M. Anhuth - Guest Relations

This review has to do with the bad experience we had after communicating with the hotel in order to rearrange our visit for one month later since coronavirus occurrence was extended such in our country as in Switzerland. We requested not a refund but a new reservation for one month later with one extra night.
We received a negative answer and they asked from us to proceed with a new reservation and pay again the whole initial amount (plus the extra night of course) since that was ''their policy'' as they claimed. We contacted with them via our travel agency and directly a few days later but they rejected all of our proposals. So, we didn't manage to visit Zurich by now and we lost our money.
Coronavirus is a global phenomenon and a huge brand like this should protect its customers and take all appropriate countermeasures to manage this health crisis as other hotels globally do.

Should be ashamed to even be considered a Marriott hotel, because the experience was far from what you’d expect. First thing, the people working on the reception were not enthusiastic and did not greet the guests properly. This really plays in later.
We wanted to extend the night to which the lady on the phone gives me an abhorrent price for one night, but then decided to give me a “special rate” which is just much difference than the original price and was more than what we initially paid.
Every morning when we would go out, there would be reeking stench of someone cooking. And I know for a fact its not just us, because I hear other guests also complain about the same stench. Secondly, the AC god knows what’s wrong with it because it stops working in the night and in the morning it works. Another thing, why is it that at 8-9 am the housekeeping is having loud conversations next to our room when we are trying to sleep in. What happened to respecting other people in the room?
During check out, of course some bs had to be pulled out right before we left. Not only did it take forever for someone to take the luggage. The female receptionists, one of them in training very clearly did not know how to do their jobs properly in a sense that they did not make things clear. They tried to charge extra on my card for the extra night and additional so called “city tax” which they already took from my card but tried to charge me cash.
Additionally, when we tried to order a taxi to the airport which is only 10 min. From the hotel. The night before Fabio told me we would be able to order a big van on the day and when we tried, the lady in training whatever her name is, said no and that we would try to have to order two card and pay additional for the car seat and basically pay more for what we would’ve on the one big van.
If it wasn’t for the sweet bartender who was the only one that really helped us even though it wasn’t his job, we would’ve missed our flight. If you’re coming to Zurich, I urge you to avoid this hotel as best as possible since they will try to milk your wallet. The worst hotel in Zurich, it ruined our experience in Switzerland and I doubt we’d ever come back again.

Hi am platinum member with marriott and still i find this hotel is not worth it to be marriott, the check in, i had to wait for 30 mins , cause one staff only at three counters and in the phone , the hotel is old renovated the lobby looks fine but the rooms are old and the furniture have stains , the view as they promote its not lake view , barely visible, elevators old , lounge open only from 2-9 which is weird usually club members can have breakfast in lounge but not here ,the location of the hotel not nice u had to be careful when u get out on street and no sidewalks , the service is bad , i can the receptionist where i could do a pcr and she was guiding me verbally when i ask her to write the address down she seems upset and the address was wrong when i google it , the breakfast is okay small place if u came late will seat u in another restaurant so long way yo the buffet.
No concierge the receptionist is the concierge , when we ask for recommendation for dinner he suggest the white elephant in the hotel which was another bad experience.
Its one of few Marriott that i dont recommended at all
Best regards

I stayed at the Zürich Marriott Hotel this week for the first time. I am a frequent business traveler and Platinum Elite member. The hotel is in a convenient location near the train station. The staff in the M Lounge was attentive and friendly. So was the valet staff. Other than that this hotel was disappointing.
Check in was at 3 pm. I showed up following a red eye flight at 2:30 pm. They only had two rooms available both near the elevator and on lower floors. I had a chat conversation requesting a higher floor and a room away from the elevator days prior. After much discussion, being assigned a room on a lower floor that had not been serviced, and an hour wait, I was given a room on the 10th floor. There was much traffic noise even that high up. Every evening the same type of food smell was in my room and I have no idea where it came from. The minibar and coffee service was never properly restocked. Several of the front office staff need to get more customer service training. I am going to switch back to a smaller hotel on the lake. This Marriott did not make me feel comfortable and welcome. It was worth a try.

Room was fine for a brief stay and the location is fairly central so it’s handy for being in the center of town and near transport. In terms of facilities, bar and restaurant facilities were pretty average... The coffee at breakfast was not very pleasant and I did not really enjoy the buffet. This being said, the staff were friendly and helpful.

Often the Zurich Marriott is too expensive (usually above CHF 350 a night for a basic room, without breakfast), so I book at other hotels (at this price, many alternatives exist in Zurich). This time however, the price was right so I decided to go for a "Junior Club Suite", to have access to the Club lounge.
Upon check-in however, I was told the Club lounge was closed, and was instead upgraded to a suite on (or almost) the last floor. It offered a great view, particularly on this snowy day (see pictures), but of course this didn't replace the drinks and snacks I could have in the Club lounge! While I can understand Covid restrictions, a voucher for a drink would have been a minimum!
Given the restrictions, I had dinner at the hotel, in the lobby bar (restaurants were closed). Food and service were all right. And I could enjoy the cigar lounge after.
Check-out has been a nightmare and took about 30 minutes for some obscure reason, with the Uber driver expecting in front of the hotel! So much for the Swiss efficiency!
All in all, Covid does not excuse everything. This experience was below average and does not encourage me to go back.
