The Dolder Grand stands out for its luxurious spa and comprehensive amenities, with many guests enchanted by the grandiose rooms and breathtaking views, despite occasional service inconsistencies. While the costs raise eyebrows for some, others deem the splurge justifiable for a special indulgence.
The rooms earn accolades for their opulence and panoramic scenes, though service can sometimes lag. The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness are repeatedly praised, with its majestic showers and pristine upkeep noted, yet the service quality is described as hit-or-miss.

Loved spending a weekend in Zurich at the Dolder Grand. The facilities of the hotel are incredibly Guest oriented, delivery the most incredible stay while enjoying the amazing cuisine of the two restaurants and the 4.000sqm SPA.
Details are a constant excellence throughout all the estensive property, while one the most remarkable art collection is scattered among all the ambience and levels of the three main buildings. The Carezza Suite is definitely my favourite, with woody vibes throughout all the ambience and the most stunning view over Zurich and the glimmering Lake.

Dear Guest Thank you very much for your stay at the Dolder Grand and your excellent feedback. It was the personalisation of the welcome and guest relations that made my stay so wonderful and why I return to the hotel. I know the hotel receives many interesting guests but making sure that all guests have a good experience is why I keep returning.
I would like to that Niklas who is reliable and always happy to help. Sven and Vivienne are everything you would want from Reception and it was lovely to meet Marlies who very kindly arranged for my packed lunch which has become somewhat of a tradition for my drive back to London from the hotel.
The hotel has a wonderful carwash and the Concierge staff are second to none, Luca had my wallet sent the hotel minutes after I had declared it lost.
I will of course return, though I would hope that the prices don't keep doing up. There has been a gradual increase in prices for each booking I have made this year.

Super helpful staff, the meals were delicious, great facilities, top notch!
There is also a great view, beautiful area.
Very quiet location, the rooms are well insulated and you can hardly hear anything.
They don't promise you too much.

Walking the hallways of the old part of the luxury hotel gave a vibe of a sanatorium/hospital during the First World War era when patients came to cure their tuberculosis. A premonition perhaps? Although I booked a room in the modern part of the hotel by phone several weeks prior, the reservation was mixed up. Never mind, the room in the old part was large and beautifully renovated too with a very large balcony and lake views.
Dinner on the terrace started out pleasant enough on this spectacular August evening until we tried to order a dry martini. It took 3 people to finally understand that we were not looking for the Martini Bianco/Rosso stuff but the world famous drink. The menu was limited and not too exiting so we were tempted with a recommendation from the server for shrimp carpaccio. It arrived looking beautiful and tasting fine. A forty year habit of eating all manner of raw seafood in USA and Japan kept us from questioning this choice further. My husband followed up with Zuercher Geschnetzeltes with Roesti, a speciality in Switzerland. The serving looked like it came right out of Denys. Hash browns and a sauced meat were a total disappointment. Luckily I didn't have any because a night of severe vomiting and discomfort followed.
The next day was spent slowly recovering lying flat on the terrace of the beautiful modern spa instead of an excursion into the city. Not a bad place to be under the circumstances. The careful reintroduction of food with a so called Japanese rice bowl ordered from the spa menu with no taste whatsoever was just what I needed. But for a healthy client! No, resoundingly no. Not in a hotel of this calibre!
Early breakfast on the day of departure was a disaster too. They were unable to open the door to the restaurant and the buffet was not ready at all.
We logged a complaint with the management and got a refund for the offending dinner.
Needless to say this was not the experience we hoped for and will never go back.

Dear guest Thank you for your visit at the Dolder Grand and for taking the time to give us some feedback. We would like to sincerely apologise for the fact that your husband did not feel well after dinner on the terrace and we hope that he is now feeling much better. We would be very grateful if you could contact us. We have not had any feedback on food poisoning from other guests - this is being treated as a serious matter and we have already discussed it with the relevant departments of the hotel with the aim of identifying possible causes. We would like to assure you that we adhere to the very highest hygiene and quality standards, and inspections are carried out regularly by the relevant external authorities. We would also like to record your preferences regarding the room (wing instead of main building) in your file and follow up on your feedback regarding the martini, the rice bowl and the breakfast. We would be very happy to have the opportunity to welcome you again and to convince you of our service and our offer without compromise. We look forward to your response and would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to provide it. Kind regards Georg Steiner Director of Food & Beverage

Dolder Grand review: not recommended anymore.
I spent ±60 days at the hotel over the last several years so I am qualified to write Dolder Grand reviews. It has gotten much worse recently and I do not recommend it.
The pillows in the rooms are low quality and they couldn’t bring any better ones after repeated complaints. The “king size bed” is two twin mattresses stuck together. Internet access keeps getting reset so i have to repeatedly log in from every device every several hours.
The service in restaurants is just bad. You have to tell people to wipe down dirty tables. The pastries are not fresh-baked. Orders have been missed repeatedly. They don’t think about basic things like having tissues on every table. Basic service stuff not done properly.
Despite these many simple-to-fix shortcomings, the management has plenty of time to get in guests’ personal space over wearing face masks every time you stand up. After many years as a loyal guest, being told, I quote “we are watching you” is ridiculous. Made me feel unsafe.
Poor priorities are a sign of poor leadership, which leads to gradual asset depreciation by eroding guest loyalty. If I were the owner, I would replace the management. These things are dangerous to businesses because they are gradual and imperceptible until earnings fall "for no reason."
This is my Dolder Grand review. After 60+ nights, I will not book again.

Dear guest We regret that we obviously upset you so much that you could not voice your displeasure on site at the Dolder Grand and preferred this platform to leave your feedback. It is extremely important for us to emphasise that we value feedback from our guests, as this is the only way we can continuously improve our service. It is therefore all the more regrettable that we have lost you as a valued regular guest. We are convinced that together we would have found a solution to the problems mentioned. With regard to the obligation to wear masks, we insist on our position; according to the Federal Office of Public Health, masks are still compulsory indoors from the moment you get up from your seat. We take the implementation of this protective measure very seriously for the protection of our other guests. If you feel that there is a possibility to get in touch personally, we would be very happy to hear from you. Yours sincerely Markus Granelli General Manager

Driving up the hill, you feel the sensation of arriving at a historical masterpiece!
Room: had one in the modern wing, the golf wing. Very nice comfortable room with balcony, nothing really exclusive though. but very nice.
Location: up on the hill, there is a free shuttle to drop you off in the middle of Zurich every hour, and there is also the very cool cable car with easy connection with the tram network.
Wellness: very , very nice!!! Part is separated female / male. Loved it, very clean! Maybe a bit a pity that the separate parts don't have daylight or more relaxing place ( I like to take a steam bath, lie down an read for a bit, have another steam, and so on and on). But, you can always go to the mixed part to relax. All super clean!!
Dinner: had dinner in their lobby bar. Very nice.
Breakfast: very very good! Loved it! Such a fan of the Bircher muesli!
I really really love this place. If you wanna combine relaxing with a stroll in the city, choose this hotel. If you like modern art (the hotel is flooded with it), choose this one.
Service at his best!
I was so stupid enough to forget my passport in the safe in the room, I already got confirmation it is sent to my home address by courier. So nice of them.
If I'd have the money, I think I'd live here permanently.

This is one of the best hotels in the world.
You’ll have to overpay to get a spacious room as most are on the smaller size, but if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed.
I would stay here every time I’m in Zurich if I can.
Only downside is the price, but that’s consistent over Switzerland in general. This country makes NYC feel like a bargain.

The Dolder was everything it is meant to be and more. My room had stunning views and the service was everything expecting of Swiss efficiency and attention to detail. The shuttle into town is incredibly helpful and the facility to order room service to the charming terrace after hours is incredibly useful. I personally really appreciated the frequent water testing in the spa and a spotless well maintained gym. I would like to thank Mr Aerni, Melanie who prepared for my arrival over the phone as well as Markus, Vivienne, Victoria and Georg.

Dolder, Dolder, Dolder.
Why is it so hard to eat in any of your several restaurants with a food allergy?
Despite emailing and calling in advance nothing could be provided to eat other than pasta and a salad across all your restaurants? It was easier to order take away delivery from Zurich than get food that wouldn't require a trip to a hospital.
Breakfast was difficult, nothing labelled on the buffet. Staff didn't know what was in the food. A la carte no allergen information available. Speaking to four staff to find out what was in a basic ingredient like bread. Breakfast was sustenance not a 5 star experience.
However negotiating a room upgrade - the room in the old part of the hotel with balcony views over Zurich was excellent. We live locally and the stay at the hotel was a wedding gift we couldn't take at the time of our wedding due to the pandemic. The stay was ok but could have done a lot more to make this experience memorable and spend more time/money within the hotel itself.

This supposedly a 5 star hotel, but the service is sub-zero.
First my room wasn’t ready and we lost nearly two hours before being able to check in the correct room.
Second day they cleaned the room and took the tea cup and tea pot, so I asked at 16h for a new set, I asked again at 16h30, 17h nothing happened, then someone popped up in my room by chance asking me if I need something I told him I was waiting fir my tee pot, after another hour they brought tea cups but still not no tee pot at 18h. At 19h15, the turn down servie team came in my room, I asked them about a tea pot they brought it 5 minutes later so after more than 3 hours I finally had it, I went down to meet the manager on duty informed her about the incident and also told her that my phone wasn’t working any more and that they needed to send a technician to fix it. Never hear about her any more nor dis anyone try to fix the phone. It was as if I talked to a wall.
I finally gave up trying to get anything done for me in this hotel. I rate the service team 0, except for the turn down lady who did her job and solved my issue in 5 minutes.

Dear guest Firstly, we would like to thank you for choosing the Dolder Grand while staying in Zurich. Furthermore, we thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We understand that the service you received fell short of your expectations, and we appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. It is very regretful that your room was not ready upon your arrival but we were happy to offer you another one in the same category. This second as well as the third room shown was not to your liking which led to the unfortunate event of a small waiting time in your case. Your critique regarding the tea cup and tea pot is fully justified and we apologize for this mishap. It is unacceptable that it took several hours to replace them. We have discussed this internally to improve our response time and ensure that such incidents are not repeated as such procedures do not at all reflect our standards nor our own understanding of hospitality. Once again, we present our sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused and we are glad that our Director of Rooms Division is getting in direct contact with you. We hope that you will give us another opportunity to provide you with the exceptional service that we strive for. Meanwhile, we wish you a lovely Festive Season and remain with warm regards, Markus Granelli General Manager

sorry, saw this now, I hope your dog is still alive and well. I would check with reception. kind regards, J
We stayed in a magnificent suite in the new building with a big terrace overlooking the lake . It was spectacular. Personally we did not feel the need for a butler at this hotel . Enjoy this magnificent place .
