First of all the the hotel has a very central location, walking distance to everything (train station, shopping facilities, lake front, etc.) in Zug city centre. The rooms are spacious, modern and the furnitures are new, very clean. All the staff was extremely kind and helpful. We had a request about our room, and the person on the shift at the time, Oliver, was very helpful and created an immediate solution which was well beyond our expectations. The breakfast was included during our stay, which was really good with lots of options to choose from. There is a private closed parking space connected to the hotel building (you do not need to go outside to access the parking area), which can be reserved for hotel guests for CHF 14 per day. We did not yet try but they have an agreement with a gym close to the hotel, you can have a day pass for CHF 19, which includes the spa facilities.
We are 100% satisfied, thanks to the Hotel Team.

Warm welcome from the landlord who is very helpful and flexible, agreed to let us visit the different types of rooms before we could choose the one we preferred. Super clean room, lots of amenities ; can be noisy (cars noise) if you let the windows open, but totally quiet with the windows closed. Excellent breakfast with choices of cereals, fruits, meats, cheeses, jams, croissants, breads, great birchermüesli, perfect for every breakfast preferences.

We stayed at Hotel Zugertor for 2 nights with our son. We also took their breakfast which had many options. Many things to choose from such as croissants, hard boiled eggs, hot chocolate, jam, yogurt, muesli, and cornflakes. Their staff is friendly and all spoke excellent English. We also tried their restaurant “Chez Ladure”. They have convenient parking space in the basement. Also when we left the hotel, I forgot my son’s penguin animal toy under his bed. So we contacted the hotel and they efficiently mailed us back the penguin toy free of charge. Anyone with a young child knows how devastating it is to lose a child’s favorite toy or blanket. We’re so grateful we got the package in 2 days and my son could sleep again. Will definitely stay there again because of their superior service.

We had 4 nights stay at Hotel Zugertor last week and the stay was very comfortable. Staff is caring. The hotel is very near to the train station and lake is about 10 mins walk from the hotel. We got a double upgrade and the room was spacious and very quiet. Will recommend to others and will stay again in future. 5 ⭐️

I manage two businesses based in Zug, and the staff at the Zugertor are so good to me that it has become my home away from home! The employees actively look for ways to make the experience better for ALL their guests. For example, when the weather was too nasty to take my evening walk, they found an extra rug for me to do my stretching on. The on-site restaurant Chez Ladure offers fine French and Italian cuisine. Whether you are in Zug for business or leisure, the service at the Zugertor is so reliable, friendly, and well organized that once you have tried it, you will look nowhere else.

The staff is just amazing. They are incredibly helpful and polite. I have never seen staff in any country to be so helpful.
Rooms are clean and good size. Breakfast is good.
Don't forget to grab the free Zug pass from the reception (mostly likely the reception staff will give you the pass before you even ask). This pass allows free travel in Zug for two days and access to some attractions as well.
The only thing about the location is that its a good 10 min walk to the train station.
P.S. Pizza place across the road does very good pizzas.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Zugertor Hotel and found our experience quite relaxing. Yes, its a small hotel but you will receive 5 stars of kindness, quiet rooms, and good dining. Its also a short walk to the train station for convenience. Also, there are scooter rentals abound in the area. The management is very experienced with the area and provided us with bus tickets and information on the best places to see. In town, the clock tower is not to be missed. You will need a special key to go inside! The restaurant for breakfast was good, but the dinner was fantastic and affordable for the area. We hope to visit again soon. I highly recommend this hotel and supporting small businesses in the area.

We had a great experience at this hotel. We arrived with a big van which did not fit through their parking and they allowed to park in front until a few hours after check out time.
They welcomed our dog with a bowl (which we could keep!) Of food , and his own bed, and there was a sign at the door to inform others that there was a dog in the room. They were friendly and made it very easy for us - from letting us use the toilet when we came to retrieve the van in the afternoon to filling our water bottle and petting our dog and showing us wjere to gonfor a walk or how to find the magic key to the tower door:)
They had extra adaptors for the Swiss sockets which we could borrow.
Breakfast was good, nice varied selection for us and our kid.
The family room was big, comfortable beds (including the fold out couch), nice bathroom with bad and lots of towels and amenities, and warm inside the room.

The Hotel Zugertor has been very tastefully and gently renovated. The service is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet is a delight for the eyes and the palate. It is great that when the weather is nice, breakfast is served outside on the terrace. The room (on the 4th floor) with balcony is spacious, as is the bathroom. The mattress is great and the duvets and pillows are wonderfully fluffy.

The Hotel Zugertor impressed in all areas. Thanks to the online check-in, the actual check-in took just 2 minutes. And then I was standing in the spacious room, which looked exactly like the pictures. The room was very quiet. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a perfect addition to the icy winter day. The breakfast was small but fine. I would definitely return.
