The Hotel Pickwick is a popular tourist hotel and "Swiss lodge" approx. 600 Yards from the railway station. Located directly on the banks of the river Reuss, in the heart of the historical old town of Lucerne, the hotel commands a superd view of the world famous wooden "Kapell bridge". Very well maintained simple rooms with en-suite shower and WC, flat-screen TV, room-safe, tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, and free WIFI. Most rooms have a small balcony overlooking the river. Every room is a "room with a view"!Breakfast is not included but we recommend a nearby restaurant (only a few steps away) that offers a great breakfast buffet.Parking: due to our location in the historical old town we recommend that you use the parking garage at the train stations (600 yards away).

FANTASTIC property, with the gorgeous, iconic Chapel Bridge right outside your window! Spacious room, ample storage space in the foyer closet area, and the electric kettle was a welcome surprise! We were absolutely thrilled to find a Guest Laundry at this hotel as we were one week into a three week trip and intended to find a laundromat before moving on. It was fantastic to be able to do a couple of loads for less than 2 euros without having to leave the hotel.
Staff we encountered were all very nice. Unusual to check into a hotel at a pub, but just a quirk that added to our enjoyment.
The only thing I didn't like was a couple of stumbling/tripping hazards. A ledger board in the hallway a couple of steps from our door that one of us always managed to trip over, and the washroom is separated from the main room by the step down entryway, so if you get up in the night you have to remember there is a step down from the bedroom area, and a step up again to the bathroom. All in all a very minor issue that leaving the bathroom light on with the door ajar overnight solved.
We would very happily choose this property again, without hesitation.

To be honest, you are paying for the view, but the hotel itself is well looked after and has all the amenities you would need.
All the rooms overlook the river as well as the riverside walkway below.
Other reviews mention the noise, but midweek in May, this was not an issue, dying down about 23:00. In the morning it is replaced by birdsong.
The hotel is about 10 min flat walk from the rail station or one stop on the bus (Svanplatz).
Check in was straight forward (in the pub downstairs, though unless you eat here, this is the last you will see as the actual entrance is at the back). All the staff we met were friendly.
The rooms are serviced every day with fresh towels ( it would be nice if there was an option to NOT to have them replaced on environmental reasons, as most hotels in Europe seem to do now).
Breakfast is not available but there are plenty of bakeries around from 6-7am including Bachmann. We used the Migros or Co-op supermarkets under the train station for our baked goods.

I have enjoyed my 1 N stopover at Luzern.
The room has the most amazing views of Kapellebrucke and Mt Pilatus....and close to the train station, and the sights are within walking distance.
There is a pub downstairs serving beers, ale.. and pub grub, good prices for Luzern.
Staff are helpful and friendly.
I will book this hotel for my future visits to Luzern.
Mt Pilatus and Luzern Boat trip are great excursions.

We spent one night at this hotel and wished we were there for longer! We booked a 'Comfort Twin Room River View'.
The hotel is approximately a 5 min walk away from the Luzern train station and right in the centre of town. Everything was in walking distance, including the Lion Monument, Musegg Wall, bus to Mt Pilatus, cruises around Lake Luzern and Chapel Bridge.
We arrived several hours before check-in time, which was no problem as they luckily had an available room for us.
The hotel is situated above a pub, wasn't too sure about this at first, but it was absolutely fine. Once checked-in, we were able to come in and out of the back door using our room swipe card.
The room was very clean, comfortable bed, great shower with good pressure, and wifi worked perfectly. The best part was the view from our room and the little balcony. There was a safe provided in the room, as well as a kettle for tea and coffee. Due to the age of the building, there is no aircon. However they did provide an electric fan.
The staff were very friendly and allowing us to store our bags there once we had checked-out was very helpful.
Overall this was a great hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this lovely property for 2 nights. It is a stone’s throw from the Lucerne train station and very easy to find, ideally located in the heart of old town Lucerne. The common areas of the hotel do not look like much but don’t let that put you off. The front of the hotel is a pub and the rooms are accessed up the stairs to the back of the pub. Check in was easy and they kept our bags while the room was made ready as we arrived prior to check in time. The room was small with two twin beds one in front of the other. Notwithstanding the size of the room, it had everything we would need for a comfortable stay and it was very clean. It also had a small balcony with a small table and two chairs overlooking the street and that afforded that straight on view of the Chapel Bridge and mountains in the distance. Delightful! The room does not have AC but there is a small standing fan. The fan did not help much. I found the room quite warm especially at night. That apart, we enjoyed wondering around the beautiful town enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and the wide range of restaurants, shops and places of interest right on our hotel doorstep. One morning there was a farmers market along the stretch right outside the hotel. Lovely! I would stay at this hotel again and I recommend it. The hotel staff we met were pleasant enough but what made our stay is the location, the comfort and cleanliness of the room and the beautiful views.

Great location looking out over the river. All the rooms have a river view. I did not eat at the Pub but saw the menu and looked very good and a good variety. They cleaned the room every day and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Considering I stayed for 13 nights I did get a very good price. They do not serve breakfast but there are plenty of places within walking distance to enjoy a light breakfast. It is located in the Old Town and only about a 5 minute walk from the main station. I would surely stay here again.

Would definitely stay here again! Great location with beautiful views and good size rooms. It sits above a pub that had delicious food (we ate here every day we were here), the staff was very friendly and kind, and even helped us get back our glasses that we accidentally left behind. Highly recommend this place!

Great view, but there are a few things to consider. Undeniable view of Kapelbrücke bridge. Absolutely beautiful looking out over to Mount Pilatus. However, first there is no air-conditioning, probably typical of a lot of hotels here but just know that there is none. That means you're going to have to open your windows for air. We were there in early September and it was very hot. Could not have made it without the fan provided and the open windows. However, there is a note on the table saying beware of mosquitoes if you turn your lights on. We had no problem with the mosquitoes with the windows open but we kept our lights to a minimum. The other thing to consider though is is above a very popular English pub. Food there is great and everyone seems to know that, so on the weekends with your windows open the street noise can be loud. And can be louder on into the night from people enjoying themselves. Also there is a Sunday market, so about 4 o'clock in the morning on Saturday they start clearing the outside dining tables and that makes noise as well. Wi-Fi was great hotel and staff are great. Towels were a little thin. But otherwise it was a great stay. Just know there's no air-conditioning and with the windows open you were going to have noise in the evenings. Also, you are right in the heart of everything. But the view, yes, is fantastic. Even with the noise, I would stay there again.

Inside, the hotel room was fantastic, my problem was with the noise and cigarette smoke from the outdoor tables in the pub downstairs. If you Don't mind those issues, I absolutely recommend this place. My room overlooked the chapel bridge, and as other reviewers mentioned, it is about 400 yds to the train station. My room had a refrigerator, electric kettle and cups. Perfect!
My room was clean, daily maid service, and a breeze from my open balcony doors. At first I was confused about how to check in because I arrived early and the pub was not open yet.. However, one of the pub personnel came to the door and took my suitcase and put it in my room. I checked in later. I was on the 4th floor and there is an elevator (yay!)
The staff could not have been kinder. Except for the street noise and cigarette smoke that wafts up, this place is great.
