Detailed Reviews
During the second week of October 2024, my family and I stayed for three nights at Hotel Hofgarten in Luzern. Choosing this hotel was one of the best decisions I made. The staff were exceptionally helpful and supportive throughout our stay. The breakfast included with the room rate was excellent, and the hotel’s central location made it easy to walk to all parts of the city. The restaurant was also superb, and our room was spacious and equipped with all the amenities we needed. I would have no hesitation in choosing this hotel again for future trips.
Pros: Everything was excellent.
Suggestion: Since the lift does not reach all levels, a luggage service to help with bags would be a welcome addition.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay here. I was made very welcome and all the staff are helpful and friendly.
My room was super with clean, well fitted bathroom too.
The location is just on the edge of the centrum but this is a plus because you don’t have all the tourist hordes around, but it only takes a couple off minutes to walk to the centre of the Old Town, so it is perfect.

Great location close to lake and a short walk to the old town. Welcoming and helpful staff, everyone very friendly in hotel and restaurant for our fantastic breakfast.
Room very nice but hot - portable air on not particularly good so keep this in mind. We were not too bothered but you might be.
They have converted what is a very old building into a good hotel that we recommend.
Parking worked well by using the valet service, no concerns and on time when we wanted the car back.
Beware, Switzerland is not cheap.

Yeah…no. Where to begin…
Rooms in a maze of stairs that allows a unique experience hearing everything in your bedroom (guests at the reception directly to your bed in the second floor).
Bathrooms are absolutely awful (hair drier with exposed power cables), additionally if you are not staying alone, be prepared to share the experience with your guest in the toilet (glass door: no privacy, no sound dampening light directly in line of sight of the bed. Whether you are showering or brushing your teeth or going number two, it is now a group experience).
The hotel boasts paid parking, what they neglect to mention is that you don’t have free access to your car. Since they have private parking that is not accessible to you as a guest.
Comfortable bed. Location is good, but I would point you towards ibis style rather than this place.
Did I mention that the floor (and bed) vibrate when a bus pass by ?
Oh and before I forget, there was a random 42CHF charge on checkout, didn’t inquire as I just wanted to leave at this point.
P.s: don’t go for the croissants at breakfast, as apparently they serve day(or two)old croissants. Hard as a rock

Hotel stuck in the seventies, small and sad rooms, there is no air conditioning in the room but only a very noisy small machine with a nozzle outside the window. The hotel is surrounded by quite busy streets during the day and night and therefore keeping the windows open is like sleeping on the street. On the other hand, the air conditioning machine is so loud that it feels like sleeping next to an airplane engine. All with over 35 degrees outside.... All for around 400 euros for one night!

Quirky hotel. Weird design and not great for handicapped. The bathroom shower was small and had a high.step out. Breakfast was with fresh cooked eggs if not too busy. Breakfast help was the best. Free water bottles

Hotel is close to train station and city. Bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
The girl who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. She provided good information on our itinerary.
The hotel was good enough to give us an early check in which we appreciate.
Breakfast was good value for money. Staff in the breakfast restaurant was efficient and friendly.
Room was ok but we would have preferred coffee making facility in the room. However upon request they provided us with a kettle.
There are rooms with kitchen facility so make sure you request.

Great location - close by the church / cathedral and within easy walking distance of the train station and all the main attractions of this lovely city. Close by to the lake and the steepest the steepest railway in the world, the Pilatus Railway - an awe-inspiring feat of engineering. Very helpful, hospitable and welcoming staff.

Fantastic location, just across the bridge from the train station. Out standing staff and rooms. The dining is great, food and service. When we return to Lucerne we will stay at the Hotel Hofgarten again. Sorry we were only here for one night this visit. 5 Star review

We were tired so we took a taxi (not expensive) but the walk is do-able. The hotel is GREAT and the food is fantastic. Enjoy!
