Stayed here for 6 nights and used points for payment. The room was decent, no air conditioning but did have a fan. This was not a problem because the nights were cool and you could leave the window open. Now the problem with leaving the window open was the bar and pizza place on either side. Music until 2am and everyone smoked and you got the smell of smoke all the time. This hotel is associated with the Monopolo where you had to check-in and out as well as going there for breakfast. The breakfast was nothing to rave about but it suited my needs. This was not my 1st choice of a hotel and probably will not stay here again when I return to Lucerne. All the employees were very nice.

Excellent hotel at a very good and convenient location, within 200 metres of the main train station. The family room was large with two rooms and bunk beds in the second room. The washroom was large, unlike many hotels and well stocked with required supplies. Just a 5-10 minute walk from tourist attractions and a park with play area for kids. Loved it

This hotel was booked for me on a work trip and it’s been very disappointing. Extremely small rooms that are boiling hot. No air conditioning and the windows can’t be open while you sleep as it’s so noisy outside. They clearly know about these issues as the oom comes with earplugs and a rickety old fan.
The room is clean but it’s very basic. One single bed with a paper thin mattress. A small shower, toilet and sink. The door may as well be non-existent as you will be woken by the noise every time someone comes past the room in the night time.
On the first floor rooms (and even the corridor) you can hear the music from the restaurant below thumping away. If you’re a light sleeper then insist on a room as high up as you can!
I usually go with “you get what you pay for” but this hotel is not cheap. I’m disappointed by the quality of this hotel and will ensure we don’t book here again. It’s rated as a 3 star but really it’s a 2 at most. One step above a shared hostel room in a third world country.

Dear Guest Your recent experience at our hotel is very concerning to us, and we regret to hear about the inconveniences you faced during your stay. We understand how crucial a peaceful environment is for our guests, and we strive to facilitate this. Your feedback on the noise levels has been duly noted. With regard to the room conditions you've described, we'd like to clarify that we strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all our guests. It seems, unfortunately, that we fell short of your expectations in this instance. We'd also like to address the issue regarding the noise from the restaurant below. The operators are indeed instructed to limit the volume from midnight, and we sincerely apologize if this guideline was not adhered to during your stay. We will engage in discussions with them to prevent future occurrences. While we regret to hear that you won't be returning, we appreciate your feedback and will take it into account as we strive to improve the hotel's experience. Sincerely yours Hotel Alpina

When I first walk into the room, I noticed a pair of ear plugs on the desk. I looked at my wife thinking did she request for that as I tend snore alot when I sleep.
After a while, I heard some music coming from below, then I realized what the plugs are for.
There is a pub near by and the music could played till late at night especially on weekends.
The other thing is that the flooring in the room is made of wood and whenever you step on it, it creaks. The hotel reception said that is because it is a old building.
Finally, there is a pizza place right below our room and the smell of pizza could be smelled from the corridors. Luckily the smell doesn’t travelled into the room.

The worse: the room. Do not book a single OR fall for the “room assigned at check-in” cause you’ll still get a tiny single. Mine was so small that it is the first time EVER (I’m 69) that I objected to the room size & was moved to another single bed room, just a bit longer in size. Beware.
The hotel & rooms are worn & need refurbishments. The shower is an accident waiting to happen; slippery without the option of a non-slip rubber mat: bring your own. The room is carpeted & the carpets need to be cleaned; mine was stained & only vacuumed: bring sandals (yuk!). Good were the water pressure & large windows which I kept open ( in October). Suggest
not booking any hotel without a/c in Switzerland even through October.
The staff ladies were excellent: polite, professional, kind & welcoming attitude: loved them. Also excellent was the ONE man taking care of the breakfast room. He worked non-stop doing everything & still was professional, courteous & efficient,
The only reason I would recommend this hotel is the location which is but one block from the train station & 2 blocks from the river, chain bridge, Jesuit Church & Lake Lucerne docks. That said, I will search for an alternative option. In my 11 days in Switzerland on the Grand Train Tour changing cities each bight, this was my “least favorite” hotel. Keep looking.

The hotel is a stress-free 3-5 minute walk from the train station. The reception is very friendly and helpful, and there is also a self-check-in. You are given very good advice about sights and restaurant recommendations. The room is simple and equipped with fans. The fact that breakfast is offered in the neighboring hotel may seem strange, but there is no need to fear any compromise in the quality of the location or the range of services on offer!

This hotel was an experience to remember. It is very close to the train station and many restaurants and grocery stores. The only down check is the bar just below the hotel. They drink and get loud.
The elevator has no walls inside. It takes some getting use to, but I liked it because I am a little claustrophobic and this was the first elevator that made me feel comfortable.
The room was very comfortable. The bed is a king-size bed. A full bed. It had new mattress and soft sheets. It was perfectly made. The bed made for a good night's rest. I could have stayed a week in that bed. The room was spacious and looked out on a balcony. From the balcony you can look down on the street or the park nearby.
The shower was small but warm, providing lots of hot, soft water. It was a delight.
The breakfast was provided by Monopol. We had to go next door. The food was good and prepared well. There was a variety of choices.
I would recommend this hotel

We may have gotten lucky and was put in what looked to be a newly renovated room. This was a hotel room that we dearly missed towards the end of our multi-country anniversary trip throughout Europe. Check in was through their sister hotel Monopol nearby. The receptionist was so helpful and gave us suggestions on where to go in Luzern. We only stayed here for one night, but they were so kind as to decorate the bed and made our stay that much more special. The room was very spacious and the street noise was nonexistent with the balcony doors closed. The bathroom was spacious as well with an oversized bathtub. The bed was so comfortable to sleep in. We enjoyed a nice dinner from the pizza restaurant next door on the balcony since there were chairs and a table there. I wish we stayed longer in Luzern just because of this hotel room. Highly recommend!

Close to the train station. Many restaurants nearby. Room was very basic albeit fairly clean. No air conditioning so it was rather warm. There was a table fan but didn’t help much. The hotel provided both earplugs and noice cancelling headphones (!) as the night life was very loud (think loud music beats) but not very easy to sleep with huge headphones…
