The AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora offers a prime location that many guests praise, situated close to the train station and key attractions, enhancing its appeal for sightseers. While the hotel's cleanliness is commonly lauded and the service is often described as friendly, opinions on the atmosphere are split, with some finding the decor charming and others considering the rooms in need of an update and cramped.
Noise can be an issue as per several reviews. Additionally, while amenities like the free minibar are a plus, some guests feel the hotel does not provide satisfactory value, citing overcharging and unmet expectations regarding room quality.

Stayed in deluxe room with breakfast. Deluxe rooms are on 4th & 5th floor very quiet and given city centre location had no disturbances from outside.
Room was average sized but enough for me and partner for the weekend. Mini bar was included and cover juice, coke and beer. It was a nice touch to get a fresh bottle of water every day.
Front desk were very helpful to guide us with where we needed to go and the cheese fondue come recommended!
Saturday and Sunday breakfasts are extended to 12pm and 2pm which is nice.
Will stay here again without any hesitation.

The hotel has a perfect location, with just 5 minutes walk from the Railway Station and close to the bridge. A medical facility is just around the corner (I happen to use it, with one of the kid getting sick), a toy store and perfume shop right opposite the hotel. Every place is pretty accessible with a nearby bus stop and obviously the charm of the old town.
The reception staff, I am forgetting their names, though helpful but never had a smile on their face. They use to talk as an obligation and not as a courtesy, except for 1 female receptionist, who was always smiling and ready to help the guests. I wish I could remember her name and tell the hotel that she is an asset.
One incident which I categorically remember in the hotel was that we were a group of 9 people with 2 kids and I needed some plates, so I called the reception and they asked me to go to the restaurant and pick from there, anyhow I did that and after using the plates, I called them again and asked the reception for picking up the plates else it will make the room smelly, so they said that if you want to get it picked right now we will charge you 10 Euros, you cannot keep the plate outside your room, due to fire safety norms, therefore either just keep it inside or pay. Well I expected them to be a little more courteous.
However the hotel is good for a couple of nights.

This hotel is literally next to the KapellBrucke which leads you from the new part of the city to the old town. 10 mins walk from the main train station in Lucerne it couldn’t better placed for everything that’s happening.
Rooms were small but well maintained with a nice sized bathroom coffee making facilities and mini bar. Bed was comfy and with plenty of pillows you really wouldn’t be stuck for the best one to suit your particular sleep.
We were here during Covid so had to use the restaurant attached to the hotel called Bacio Della Mama which as you can tell was Italian but it had only two main courses which didn’t change the two nights we were there. Totally understaffed and waited 90 mins for a pasta dish which should take 10 mins after you order it. For an Italian restaurant you couldn’t even get a pizza although the ovens were in plain view. Disappointing to have such a limited offering of staff and meal selections but what they did have they did very well and was really good and tasty.
I would recommend the hotel and the location was fantastic but I’d like to see what that restaurant is like on a busy Saturday night outside of Covid limitations.

Thank you very much for your valuable recommendation and review. We agree, the location is really ideal for sightseeing and shopping. It is nice that you also underline the comfort and convenience of the room facilities. We regret that due to the current situation we can only offer a reduced gastronomic offer. It seems that they neglected to inform you about the daily specials. We sincerely hope that the official conditions will soon be relaxed and that we will be able to convince you with the full offer during your next stay, See you soon and remain sincerely yours, Jessica Ternes and Team

We arrived during Lucerne carnival (or is it carnaval over there?) which explained the high price and just wanted to see the city and hike Pilatus. Personnel was helpful and dressed in pleasant outfits during the festive days.
The hotel’s reception and dining room could use a refresh but the rooms were very nice and stylish. Breakfast clearly needs some work but then again Lucerne is not Zurich. Freshly cut fruit was clearly more than 24 hours old or defrosted (berries).
We parked the car in the garage next door which normally charged 57 Swiss francs per night but the hotel made an agreement with that company and gets you a reduced rate of 26 francs. Given that you’re only 100 meters from the city’s main attraction, the Kapellbrucke, this is very handy.
The unfortunate thing that resists me from giving this a five star review is that I was charged 3% exchange commission for settling my bill in Swiss francs with a credit card and furthermore had to pay an small but unannounced resort fee (I guess because of carnival / carnaval).

Thank you for your review, we are very pleased that we were able to inspire you. During the Carnelval period, our restaurant and menu do not look the same as usual, and the hotel lobby is not as usual. We are sure that you will be happy to read that we are renovating our restaurant from 26.02.2020 until 30.04.2020. Regarding the resort fee, all guests pay regardless of the season. Unfortunately, as a hotel business, we have no influence here. You are welcome to contact the city of Lucerne, as this is a municipal requirement. Furthermore, we also have no influence on your credit card fees, so we always recommend paying in your local currency. We hope to see you again soon and send you our best regards, Jessica Ternes and Team

I booked a month long trip to Switzerland and Austria for this summer in early January. Literally a few days after booking I found out my fiancée was pregnant and was due shortly after the end of the planned trip so had to cancel it. Despite booking non refundable rooms, every hotel except for this one and one other kindly refunded me or allowed me to change the date. As a result, rather than lose the money, I decided to keep the reservation and shorten the trip. Fast forward a few months and we have the Covid-19 crisis. I reached out to this hotel notifying them that Switzerland is not allowing travelers from the US into their country and the US wasn’t allowing travel to Europe. It is impossible for me to travel. All I was asking was for the to honor the reservation and the $200 I spent and allow me to change the date to a time when travel was actually allowed. They refused, stating I knew the risk”. How incredibly cold. They made me feel like Covid was my fault and that I chose not to travel which is obviously ridiculous. Zero compassion, all they care about is money of which I wasn’t even asking for. I would avoid this hotel all costs. Any hotel that doesn’t have an ounce of human empathy doesn’t deserve any business. Totally unbelievable.

Many thanks for your feedback. Every guest who booked during the period of the hotel closing, we have of course refunded his money or we have rebooked the overnight stay. If you paid for your trip by credit card, many credit card companies have included cancellation insurance, which will refund you in your case. We wish you and your wife all the best and many great moments with your baby. Stay healthy. Kind regards Jessica Ternes and Team

We loved Ameron Hotel in so many ways. The overall upkeep is immaculately clean, the location is very accessible, the service is flawless, the rooms are spaceous and comfortable, the restaurant is interesting and breakfast selection is very good.
During our 3 days stay, we were given day tickets to public transport throughout the city. A very nice smelling hand sanitizer is available at strategic locations. Our minibar was full and bottled waters were all complimentary. There were 2 pillows for each and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will surely come back.

This hotel is situated 5 minutes from the central railway station and a similar distance from the famous wooden bridge so all in all ideally situated for the holiday maker.
Our Premium room was OK. We thought for price that it should have been bigger. It had a balcony which couldn’t fit one let alone two. Ridiculous! We immediately complained and they agreed and moved us to an adjoining room where the balcony was good for 2 people and indeed the room itself was bigger.Staff were very good in handling our balcony issue
An unlimited mini bar was included in the room rate. Sounds good but the contents weren’t that great.
Breakfast was pretty good although sometimes they were a bit slow in replenishing items.
The hotel does have a restaurant for evening meals but we didn’t try it. If you go across the wooden bridge there are many restaurants for you to try but remember this is Switzerland – it’s very expensive!

The hotel staff were courteous, professional, and very helpful. We stayed in one of the 6th floor rooms with a balcony and great view of Pilatus. The rooms are a little small by American standards but well furnished. The refrigerator was stocked with soda, wine (small bottles), etc. which is replaced daily at no extra charge. The coffee maker is supplied with numerous coffees and works well. The bathroom is clean and nicely set up. The bath has a half glass shield and handheld shower head. The water was a good flow and easily adjusted. I have an issue with this type of shower but I expect Europeans are quite acquainted with it. Stepping out of the bath/shower takes care as the drop is probably 6”.
One of the most delightful surprises was how good the attached restaurant (Bacio) was. We were a little hesitant to sign up for breakfasts in advance as some of the past reviews were marginal. However, the breakfast buffet was the BEST we have ever experienced. The variety of the buffet was huge; from just made croissants (excellent!) to eggs, sausage, bacon, various fresh fruit, numerous cereals, cheeses, buns of all types, huge selection of coffees, and more. The items were ready at the opening at 7 am and continually replenished throughout the morning. A very professionally managed restaurant. Well worth the price.
Another major consideration for us was the proximity to the trains, boats on the waterfront, and Chapel bridge and Reuss river as my wife has difficulty walking. All of the above were no more than a block from the Ameron. If you travel exclusively by train, as we did for the first time, the hotel’s location couldn’t be better.

Overall: the Ameron Flora is in an excellent location. The old town, restaurants, shops, the main railway station and the ferries are all very close.
Almost all the staff are friendly and helpful. The Premium rooms are are well appointed, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. For these reasons I gave the hotel 4 stars.
However, we had problems on check-in with a staff member who was unhelpful and actually told us a change to requested rooms was impossible. We'd requested connecting rooms as we were travelling with children. When the kids dad phoned the previous day to confirm this same person told him the kids would be in the room next door as there were no 6th floor did not have connecting rooms. He reluctantly agreed. On check-in we asked again but were told no connecting rooms were available on any floor, nor would there be any availability for the remainder of our stay.
She didn't apologise for the situation, instead simply telling us all connecting rooms had been allocated to families with smaller children and there was nothing to be done. The kids with us were 9 and 10, hardly big kids.
On arriving at the allocated rooms, we found that they were both connecting rooms (but didn't connect with each other!) They were around the corner and a couple of rooms away.from each other. Unacceptable.
We'd booked though the hotel website almost 4 months prior, had requested connecting rooms and stated the age of the kids.
We returned to reception and spoke to another staff member, who was polite and helpful. She called down Serena from Reservations, who apologised, found us a connecting room on the 6th floor from the next day onwards. She also offered us complimentary breakfast.
The problem was easily solved. After the first night a connecting room would be free and it only took a couple of minutes! The difference was that Serena actually wanted to help and was courteous, unlike the other staff member who made little effort to assist, seemed annoyed that we were looking for solutions to an upsetting situation, and even lied to us.
Unfortunately our enjoyment of the hotel was marred by this first interaction.
We travel a lot and have never experienced anything like this. We've found that staff in Hospitaliity are generally great. This stay was part of an 8 week trip and all other hotel stays were great..

We are saddened to learn that your stay did not go as we would like for our guests. Ameron is a Boutik Hotel located in heart of city, few hundred meters from the famous Chapel bridge, Old Town, Union Station. Rooms n bathroom sizes were very small but were clean, comfortable although not worth it’s price. Staff were courteous but service not much to talk about. Very simply decorated, It’s location made the stay worth while n may compel us to think about going back there in future. Rating 3.5
