Just off the beaten track, away from the noise, hustle and bustle of Florence is this lovely hotel. in the heart of Oltarno 10 minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio, an ideal place from where to explore Florence. Wonderfully welcoming staff, cool, cosy, quiet rooms well serviced daily. Good wi-fi although hit of a laborious process to connect. There is no restaurant which is great as there are so many truly great restaurants within a five minute walk. there is however breakfast which is very good. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

What a gem in the best neighborhood of Florence! This was our first time in Florence and so I chose this hotel because we like to stay out of the touristy areas and it needed to be somewhere quiet, as both my husband and I are light sleepers. Well the Hotel Horto Convento could not be the more perfect place. It is tucked away from the street, next to a convent with wonderful gardens. We were pleasantly greeted at the front desk by Giovanni who was kind and gracious. The room was a standard room and was small but fit our needs. The bed was firmer than we are used to but we didn’t have any troubling sleeping. AC worked wonderfully! Downstairs bar was perfect for aperitivo, which comes with snacks. You can drink inside or outside in the garden which is just gorgeous. Drinks made by our favorite bartender, Alessio, were outstanding! Alessio is fantastic, offering recommendations and just being a wonderful person whom my husband and I adored. The buffet breakfast included was fantastic. Great service and you order whatever coffee you want and they bring it to your table. There were lots of choices for all types of breakfast eaters: eggs, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, breads and fresh pastries. It did not disappoint. Location was fantastic! Lots of options for eating, drinking or shopping all within walking distance. And it was only a 10 min walk across the bridge to the historic center. Fantastic experience with a fantastic hotel! We will be coming back for sure!

Stayed here for three nights. Absolute hidden gem and very aesthetically pleasing property. Rooms were clean, with excellent facilities. Open buffet breakfast included in the price. HUDA and RAHA were amazing and made us feel like VIPs. Only downside I could think of is that the rooms aren’t well sound-proofed (due to the fact that it is a very historical building).

We were simply thrilled with our experience at Horto Convento. The property and building are quite elegant and beautifully maintained. It is centrally located in Florence, just a short walk from the train station, yet the area also feels quiet and off the beaten path. Lastly, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful in accommodating all of our requests. I want to especially mention Giovanni at the front desk, who was an absolute professional and gave us a charming introduction to the city. We will not stay anywhere else in Florence!

So we stayed at this hotel in 2018 and we loved it so much we came back. I’ve also recommended a couple of friends to stay here in 2020 so I am a fan. However…..we were let down by a few things this time round which unfortunately would make me think twice about recommending. To start off with the positives…. The hotel is lovely and although some people moan about the location as it’s about a 20 min walk from the centre, we actually really enjoyed the walk along the river and the neighbourhood you can also walk through is very trendy with some nice bars. The room is a good size and is clean. It will also be cleaned daily if you want! The staff are very friendly. The breakfast is really good, as too is the bar. …..Now for the not too good. Whereas previously we were at the end of a corridor (119 - in 2018) and the room was quiet, this time we didn’t quite get the same experience. This time we were in room 127 and our neighbours next door as well as people directly above us, we’re not the quietest of people and we could hear everything!!! We had next door getting, how shall I put it, amorous (?) at 2am in the morning so we really didn’t appreciate the noises coming from their room (if you use your imagination) but hopefully not every guest is quite as noisy!! ….then…in the room above us, they were arguing one morning which woke us up at around 600am. In addition we could hear every tap being turned on, shower running and toilet flushing. The only other little thing was that they didn’t replenish the small bottles of water left in the room. We were there for 3 nights and ended up having to buy a bottle from the bar. For a 4*, we aren’t used to this as normally water in the room each day is a given. Other than that, we still enjoyed our stay, albeit not quite as perfect as our 1st visit.

I’ve just checked out yesterday from Hotel Horto Convento and I had a fantastic stay. My room was perfect, the bathroom was new and beautiful. I thought the location was great and Giovanni at the front desk was extremely helpful and attentive to anything I needed. The breakfast and parking were also easy and good. I’d definitely stay again! Thank you!

They have a hotel cat, the personal takes care of after the neighbours moved! He’s name is Ginger. This is the type of hospitality you get here. The hotel personal is the the nicest and most helpful personal you can get. The bonus is a nice room and a place to relax after a busy day in the city! I travel around Europe often and can only recommend to visit this hotel! 🤩 Ps: I’m a dog person 😊
