My husband stayed one night in this hotel as part of a tour. It's basically a nice looking place, very close to the heart of Cortona. Our room offered a nice view, and had all of the essentials. The room was pretty tiny, and didn't have the most comfortable mattress. The bathroom was really small, too. Breakfast offered an array of choices, and spectacular views. However, it was a bit of a free for all. The elevators were tiny, and inconvenient. I think this hotel offers good basic accommodations, but it could probably use a remodeling. I don't know how easy that would be, given its location.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was super clean. Mattress and pillows excellent. Spectacular view. The breakfast was excellent. It located at the entrance of the town. Easy connection between the parking and the hotel facilitated by multiple escalators,
We booked this hotel based on the comments and ratings from Tripadvisor, and were very disappointed. 1. Despite the bragging about the beautiful views, we found that we had to pay extra in order to actually get a room with a view - our initial room faced the city wall about 5 meters away. 2. This hotel is in general an average 3-star posing as a 4-star hotel. 3. Reception staff were rather surly initially, but got friendlier over the three days we stayed there. 4, Staff at breakfast were not friendly at all, and stood there watching everyone like policemen. Breakfast options were limited compared to other hotels on out trip (all 3/4 stars). Hot food (tasteless scrambled eggs and halved vienna sausages) was cold, even when the breakfast room opened. 5. Hotel room was tiny for a 4-star, with a miniscule TV screen. 6. No way to control heating in the room - you took what you got and that was that. 7. Walls are paper thin. 8. Hotel is easy to find and close to the heart of the town.…
Hotel San Luca is beautifully located on the edge of Cortona with room balconys--plus a big balcony off the bar/restaurant. Can't beat the views of Tuscany and the rates are very moderate. The only negative is the parking which is down the hill but not bad.
Great locaion and view. We were hoping to cycling but it was too wet, there was a secure biky storage room, and the staff were helpful in letting us park our mini-bus out the front to load and unload. The breakfast was nice, excpet the decaf coffee was not the best, good view from the dining room. Bedroom was comfortable but nothing exceptional.
