I booked a room with sea view for 612€. A few days later I received an offer for a better room that was only 4€ more expensive per day. I booked the "better room" only to find out after booking that it was a room without a sea view. When I asked to change to the room I had first booked, I was told it would cost 770€!!!! Irresponsible and not to be trusted people.
We were checked in by a very nice, friendly, receptionist. Our room was lovely, with a balcony (as booked). She showed us how to work the AC, before she left us to unpack. We opened the balcony doors instead. Before going out, I tried to switch on the AC, without success. I went down to reception. The gentleman there tried to get the AC working but was unable to do so. He promised to have it sorted by the time we got back. We returned about 5 hours later. He gave us our key and we went up to the room. AC still not working - but no mention of this at the desk. I went down to reception. He came up to the room. He was unable to get the AC to work. He went off to "start the boiler". No progress. The room was way too warm to sleep in. I asked if he could transfer us to another room, with working AC. The solution was to move us to the sister hotel across the road. Luckily they had a vacancy. We packed up and he escorted us across. In the sister hotel, we were first offered a room with a large single bed. It certainly wasn't a double, in the true sense of the word. The receptionist, who gave us that room, agreed that it was not acceptable. She gave us another room. No balcony, it was an internal room, but the AC worked fine. I can't understand why she tried to fob us off with the first room, when she knew there was another one available. I cannot recommend the Albergo because the AC looks like an older-style centralised system and even in late September, strong and reliable AC is required. On the other hand, the sister hotel is good.…
We spent 2 nights in this hotel and were amazed of the friendliness of Davide and the whole crew (and of course Ginger 🐈!). They were all so helpful and nice to us and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious, clean and offered a fantastic sea view. We will definitely come back!
My husband and I stayed in Domus Mariae Albergho from the 1st to the 6th of September and I must say I have never experienced such stellar service. The staff are super friendly and catered to all of our needs. They really made us feel at home so much so that we were sad to be leaving the place at the end of our holiday. Our room had a breathtaking view over the sea - was big and very very clean. The interior of the hotel is quaint and exemplary of a typical Italian hotel which has not been coldly modrnised. A big thank you to all the staff, especially Cinzia and Davide. We will surely be returning.
We stayed for five nights exactly one year ago. Great location, great people, great service, great view. A wonderful way to begin our visit to Sicily. We would do it again. Peter and Cynthia Coughter Richmond, VA USA
