The DMB was one of the surprise highlights of our recent Sicily trip. The sense of arrive that we received from Cinzia and Davide was phenomenal! Not only did they provide an over the top arrival experience but they were constantly available to make us feel at home in this amazingly comfortable boutique hotel. Their location provides great views and it's close to anything you want to see. Their breakfasts were over the top. Can't wait to go back and we again want to thank you C & D for all you warmth! My wife and I spent 3 nights at this old convent in Ortigia, the old part of Siracusa. We were given a room on the third floor, with a small balcony overlooking the Ionian sea and, to the north, Etna looming in the distance behind the city (about 50 miles away). I believe this room had the best view of any place we’ve stayed. David and Cinzia at the front desk were extremely helpful, and recommended several good restaurants during our stay. This hotel was an ideal base for us to explore Siracusa by foot, or to just hang out and enjoy the view from our balcony. If you manage to get a room with a sea view, sunrise is not to be missed!

Very clean, excellent location. Very big rooms with a very huge bed. Very friendly staff and very helpful. You can take a ride the town with the bicycle provided for free. Worth the visit. It used to be a convent so there are still some nuns whom are very nice and keeps you company

We booked a double bed, and where given a twin room. Room and hotel is old-fashioned, a bit stuffy with thin walls but clean. The room had a window, but it faced a corridor and we kept curtains closed throughout as otherwise other guests can look inside the room whilst walking past. After I showered I found that bath towels were missing and I had to request them twice from reception. All in all nothing really bad, but also nothing that made our stay either outstanding or pleasant. Good central location. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered the previous day via WhatsApp due to Corona, so we went to the amazing Irma la Dolce next door instead.

Domus Mariae Benessere is my home at Ortigia since many years. Also this time it was a WONDERFUL holiday. Suor Rosamaria, Cinzia, Davide and all the staff are so gentle, quick, professional and lovely. The location is fantastic, in front at the seaside, in the middle of the old town, in a very beautiful hotel. Thank you Domus Mariae!!!

Dark, small room and hotel. Interesting experience staying in a convent. Nice location. Staff friendly enough. Expensive overall. Breakfast was ok - some choice. The location is quiet for walking. It was an ok experience for one night but wouldn't stay longer.

The moment I walked into this lovely hotel I felt a sense of peace and relaxation. One got the sense that every detail of this lovely hotel was designed and decorated with this in mind. The room I stayed in was beautiful and the bathroom was very clean. Staff was extremely helpful. This hotel is ideally situated near the sea and in walking distance of the historic center. Of all the hotels I have stayed in, this is one of my favorites. I would definitely stay here again.

This wonderfully charming former convent sits on the Mediterranean Sea on the island of Ortigia. It is within walking distance of the main sites in Siracusa and on the island of Ortigia. It is close to the Duomo, Castello Manlace, and the Basilica Santa Lucia. The walk to the Roman and Greek Theaters, as well as the Orecchio Dioniso is a little longer, i.e., 30-40 minutes.

As one would expect at an ex-convent, the continental breakfast is not extravagant, but the rooms are completely charming, comfortable, and historic. It overlooks the Ionian Sea on the front (east) side. Parking is a challenge, but the hotel has 4 spaces first-come, first serve. There are public parking spaces along the sea wall. I will definitely stay here if I ever return to this 5C-4C former Sicilian capital and charming island.

We got a very nice room with view on the sea. The Staff is efficient and friendly. We had the possibility to leave the car just in front of the hotel entrance, this was very much appreciated by rainy weather.

I am a "budget" traveler (solo) and this is, hands down, one of the two nicest places I have stayed in my travels. The room was a standard hotel room and the bathroom was wonderful. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. I experienced the panic of thinking my purse had been stolen and sweet Lucia at the front desk was a great help and comfort to me until that all got straightened out. They were having trouble with the wi-fi while I was there and since I blog that was frustrating, but they kept after it and the last few days of my visit, I had no problems with it. The breakfast was bountiful and the breakfast room was lovely. I loved being "across the street" from the sea and every morning would walk across and take my morning pictures. I also loved Ortigia and highly recommend staying in this much less busy area than Syracuse. I walked to Syracuse from Ortigia and there is regular bus service too. In fact, the "heart" buses stop right outside the Domus Mariae. And, my room (no sea view) was 49E!!! That is the lowest price I have EVER paid for a room in Italy and put that with the fact that it is one of my two favorites and you will understand why I think it's a little jewel.

We got a parking permit from the hotel, and there were no time limits! We parked right in front of the hotel entrance door along the street. Hope that helps!

What is parking like at the end of March?
Answer from SuorRosamaria
Syracuse, Italy2 contributions1 helpful vote
Dear Madame, Thank you for your request. The hotel has 4 free outdoor car spots for the hotel Guests, based on availability and not reservable (first arrived first served). By the seafront there are some white-painted free spots. It is forbidden to park inside yellow-painted spots (for residents in Ortigia only). 450m far from the hotel you will find the "Talete", an unattended and covered parking with time related rate (€ 10,00 per day) served by electric busses which stop is in front of the hotel. We actually are unable to foresee how many spots will be available. Our staff will be happy to show you best places where to park Feel free to contact us for any further information or request. Best regards Daniela - Front Office
