A gem of a place. Historical, beautiful old sanatorium that became a hotel in the late xix century. The sala basile is worth every euro you pay and you can sit in there and read while having a coffee. Rooms and infrastructure are not just superb; they’re interesting and often beautiful. Nice pool with excellent service - ditto with the bar and restaurant. Breakfast is spectacular, and a lovely experience if you get Carlo to waiter you. The concierge is the weakest link, either because they’re not very knowledgeable or because they’re plain arrogant. Nothing that a guidebook can’t solve of course. Spectacular, I can’t wait to come back.
A wonderful hotel, truly 5 star from the quality of the rooms, staffing and service to the overall property. A historic hotel fantastically renovated. There is no beach or access to the sea for swimming (just for boats) but the pool is very nice with a great poolside restaurant. We spent a week here and were very happy with our choice. We had dinner in the terraza/bar almost every night. It seems to be the new place to be and be seen in Palermo which made it great fun. There's plenty to do in and around Palermo and the Villa Igiea is the perfect base.
Following a harrowing year of lock downs, it was bliss to be able to share precious time with family. The trip to Sicily was just the medicine for the soul. This palace hotel is set to rival Oetker’s Hotel du Cap. Amazing renovation to restore this grand old dame to a magnificent future. Cuisine overseen by Acclaimed chef, Fulvio Pierangelini and a gorgeous bar under the maestro Salvatore Calabrese leaves one floating with delight. Warmly welcomed by the young Australian hotel manager, we were immediately introduced to our sea terraced suite which was simply breath taking. The housekeeping team are the best we have encountered but rarely saw. The level of cleanliness across the property was nothing less than 5 star exceptional.
Touring Sicily and last stop is here in Palermo. Was greater with smiles and a upgrade to a junior suite. Not a big one but we’ll designed and comfortable. Had an extra bed for our daughter with room to walk around. The views from the window of the swaying palm trees and the marina made us pause to stop and reflect how nice and lucky we are to be here. Breakfast was over the top. They encourage you to taste the different items on the menu. The ricotta spread was amazing and so was all the dishes we asked for. The tower of fruit and meat was complimented by a basket of different breads. We choose not to stay by the pool and took a drive to a recommended beach club. It’s unique because it was on the large rocks and no sand. Very private. Tomorrow we go into town for sightseeing. …
Incredible stay at Villa Igiea. Don’t believe any of the negative reviews, which almost let me to make a big mistake a cancel our reservation. Every single detail of our stay was perfection. Our room was beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. The staff bent over backwards to fulfill our every need and request. The grounds are meticulously maintained and there were hardly any signs of construction. And the food, both for breakfast and for dinner, was excellent. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay during our honeymoon unforgettable.
