We stayed at Birkin for 4 nights, we found the room to be big, modern and clean with a lovely bathroom. On arrival we were met by Letizia who couldn’t have been more helpful. She gave us a warm welcome and plenty of useful information on the area, including recommendations of places to eat and visit during our stay. We found the location of the B&B to be really handy for all the local sights. We found Gianna the housekeeper to be absolutely lovely and friendly.
We booked the B&B for one night. The neighbourhood is very nice, almost the whole area is pedestrian. The host gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful. She gave us advices about food places, and how to reach different areas. Our room was very nice with a huge and recent bathroom. The Only negative point is the soundproofness, you can hear the people in the "lobby", the lobby is the place where you eat breakfast or can have a coffee and all rooms are connected to it. Though it wasnt a major problem because people where respectfull. The neighbourhood giovanni street and piccioni are small and beautiful streets. You can have a great meal 50m from there at Sa Picchettara.
I would very much like to have stayed at the Birkin Villanova luxury apartment as booked through Booking.com and provided a proper review, but unfortunately Birkin Villanova cancelled our booking shortly before we were due to check-in (we were already on holiday in Sardinia when they notified me). Had the cancellation been shortly after it was originally booked I might have understood a system error but to tell me a month later and to claim it was a system issue is simply disingenuous nonsense. Had we cancelled, following our booking, we would have forfeited the full €250 we paid yet there appears to be no come back on them when they cancel. As I have now checked and notice another last minute cancellation review on this link I suspect that overbooking is standard practice and in the event that there are no customer cancellations, someone loses out. Unfortunately on this occasion it was us. To add insult to injury, although we have had the two nights refunded, due to exchange rate fluctuation we are now out of pocket. I would strongly recommend that should you go ahead and book this accommodation that you follow up your 'booking confirmation' email from any booking agent with an email or telephone conversation requesting that they acknowledge and confirm the booking in order to try to ensure you do not fall foul of the same problem.…
Very nice place to stay, it is up on the hill so a 10 minute walk to get downtown. there are two elevators to get up and down town. Both of them were out of order and seem like for quite a while like maybe a year or more. this old part of town has only one shop one bakery and a few bars. luckily I was working on top of the hill, but if you need anything you have to go downtown.
Birkin Villanova is not a B&B, it is a spacious two level apartment with two bathrooms and three small balconies at the first floor looking at cosy via Giovanni street, just in front of a church. The building is old, apartment interior is modern and comfortable. There is a small supermarket nearby. It's easy to reach S.Remy bastion walking down, and Castello is some 200 metres walking up. Use elevators at Regina Elena to reach Cathedral! It would be difficult to find the way to the apartment without host help or GPS. Might be noisy with open windows as municipal service empties garbage containers early in the morning. Very calm place rest of the day.
