This is not a luxury hotel, but one of the many small hotels that Venice features. Many of these small hotels have tiny rooms for single travelers, but the Mercurio single room was more than adequate for me. Very comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent, the shower...More
The room was easy to get to from the pier where the water bus let you off. The room was adequate and quaint. Wonderful sights, restaurants and shops nearby. San Marcos Square a short walk away with gorgeous views of the very old church.
We were very pleased with this hotel. Its location is excellent, especially if one is attending an event at La Fenice. Its also close to the San Marco Vallarossa vapretto and p. San Marco. The breakfast is very good and the staff quite helpful. Our...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
