This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who frequently visits Venice. This hotel was once a palace and has a significant amount of history connected to it. It is close to Saint Marks Square and the Vaparetto which makes it easy to get...More
We stayed at Hotel Ala for 3 nights before our Cruise and couldn't be happier with our choice! I had been emailing with Stefano before arriving and when we arrived I made sure to shake his hand. He was always so pleasant and went above...More

I booked three nights here for my first ever trip to Venice and I have to say that I couldn't have been happier. On check-in I asked for a room in the original section of the hotel (which I think dates to 1200 or so...More
great location, close to every thing, easy access from airport by boat (direct connectionz), decent size rooms, very clean, friendly staff, amazing breakfast buffet. only downsize is small shower cabin in an otherwise good bathroom.
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
