I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel - it had everything you need really - comfortable beds with wonderfully crisp sheets! Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was very good - how nice not to have to get your tea/coffee from a wretched machine! It's well placed in the centre of town, but quiet, with pleasant public areas, and helpful staff. And air-con which worked! Wonderful!
Situated on the edge of the pedestriansed area the hotel is a short walk to all the main sites of interest. The public areas are spacious and attrractive although there appeared to be no cafe and/or bar but there is a small outdoor seating area. The restaurant only opens Monday - Friday but as there was never a menu on display, I didn't try it. My single room was of a reasonable size but storage was limited there being only 1 small wardrobe. The bed was quite firm (with only a partial mattress protector) and 2 pillows but OK. General lighting in the room was very good but the bedside light could have been better - more than 10 minutes reading and you begin to get eyestrain! The air con. was quite quiet but wasn't able to bring the temperature of the room down by very much. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided but no milk - you had to ask reception and they brought you up a jug of milk! The bathroom was small with a small bathtub and shower over. People with mobility problems might struggle to get into the bath as the glass shower screen gets in the way. The lighting was very good and the free toiletries are adequate. Cleanliness throught the room (and the whole hotel) was excellent. My room was very quiet with no noise from other rooms and, as the window looked out onto a courtyard, no noise from outside either. The breakfast buffet was back and there was a very good choice of hot and cold items together with very good coffee in large jugs on the tables - unfortunately though, it wasn't very hot! The main drawback to the breakfast was that the waitresses (all very pleasant and friendly) failed to replenish the food and the hot foods ran out very quickly. The receptionists were all pleasant and friendly but you had to keep bothering them for such services as laundry, as there was no information in the rooms. There was no information on visitor attractions in the town, or concerts, theatre, opera, etc. The TV in the room had no TV guide and I was unable to find an English speaking channel! As the Covid lock-downs and restrictions are coming to an end, I'm sure that the hotel will get its services and information back to pre-covid levels soon but don't expect 4 star service at the present!…
I’ve just returned from a break in udine staying at the Astoria and it was lovely. The hotel is charming and full of art as is most of udine. It’s in a great location, right on a square and walking distance to lots of interesting squares with coffee shops everywhere. The rooms are comfy, old fashioned, and have everything you need except a mirror in the bedroom Breakfast is buffet style, can be a bit hit and miss but you won’t starve
We enjoyed a very nice stay at the Astoria Hotel in Udine. It’s conveniently located on the Piazza XX Septembre. It’s a short walk to the castle, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was wonderful. The rooms could use a refresh but they’re quaint and comfortable.
One night stay in a large single room, nicely furnished although somewhat dated overall. The AC was adequate, could have cooled a little better. Cleanliness and hygiene very good. Breakfast was served on pre-ordered trays straight from the fridge due to COVID regulations, the selection good enough. The service personnell were somewhat stressed, was my impression, although friendly. The location is right in the middle of town, which for me was the main reason for booking this hotel. I could use the underground parking to store my E-bike, for free.
Everything was fine - just fine. Wouldn’t give this hotel four stars. They promise high speed WiFi (literally stated like this) but it does not work at all. The bathtub is nice though, the bed is not very comfortable but also not bad.
Suggested by a friend who told us is the best hotel in Udine! Looks like a 3 stars hotel in terms of breakfast (service, food and hall), rooms are very basic and reception (horrible to tell the true). Garage and way to the garage uncomfortable. We were in a business trip and we stayed 3 nights in 2 different rooms. Location is fine, very close to the city centre. Staff not well educated in the way they answer to customers. More than ones are rude! The price is cheap but I'll not come back anymore, I didn't like it at all. Hope there is something better in Udine.
I really recommend this hotel in Udine. The location is great, just next to the City Center. Staff is super nice and efficient. Breakfast is very good too. The room is comfortable and it was very clean.
I was really looking forward to staying in this hotel, but would hope to have some changes made. Stayed in September 2019 for only 89 euros per night. POSITIVES: hotel is elegant and in a great location just a few minutes walk from the historic center. There is streetside parking (for a fee) and a garage for 18 euros a day. Building itself is beautiful and well maintained. Our room was lovely and immactulate. Appeared to have been updated, particularly the bath. NEGATIVES: the wifi was very undependable. I had work to do, but the wifi kept closing down. When I tried to call the front desk, I discovered that the room phone was not working. (Good thing I wasn't trying to call for a fire!!!) I gave up and tried to go to sleep. But alas, the hotel is near some kind of nightclub and I could hear the drums playing and playing and playing. I used earplugs to no avail. (I am a light sleeper.) Then I decided to listen to some youtube "sleep music," but the the wifi was out again. Finally, just listened to the youtube music using up the data on my cell phone. We stayed on a Saturday night and they offer no diningroom service and it was pouring rain outside. When asked for a restaurant recommendation at the front desk, they chose one that was a long walk, and a second that was a shorter walk but was full. When pressed, they finally told us about a family restaurant around the corner where we had fabulous food.…
So many good things about this hotel....very central location close to shopping, sights, restaurants; a nearby garage with reserved parking for our car; extraordinarily friendly and helpful staff who made things easy for us; well furnished rooms (we were upgraded to a suite); and a bountiful and tasty breakfast buffet. Only a few minor maintenance problems that were fixed as soon as we reported them. But.....then there was the WiFi. Perhaps the problems we experienced were due to the location of our suite on the third floor. But, it was very frustrating! We could only access it in one of the two rooms; we had to sign in each time we moved or even set our cell phones down, despite requesting it to remember us. We could only get-at most-two bars of signal. And, at times, it would just unexpectedly quit. Since we were trying to stay in touch with family members around the globe, this became annoying. The hotel does everything else so well...here’s an area for improvement! …
