We arrived very late but check in was easy and the staff member enthusiastic and helpful. The room itself was nice enough but perhaps a little small for our week stay - particularly on the cupboard front. As this stay was early into the relaxation following the pandemic things were a little different eg no bar service as such or mini bar the staff did accommodate and served us wine each evening. Overall it was very quiet but every day staff were cheery and helpful - from booking train tickets to recommending restuarants. Cleaning felt appropriate and we felt safe. Location is good - by a supermarket and a small park and easily walkable into the historical centre and train station. Only gripe was one bottle of water per 2 guests per day and same with coffee pods - there was a tea, decaf, milk and just one coffee for 2. I'm sure I could have asked but it didnt seem worth it. Check out was fast and easy and staff seemed genuine when they encouraged us to return when things are more normal.

This is a fairly nice American-style business hotel, outside the city center. It does have parking. The staff speak English. There is a good happy hour deal. Rooms are smaller than US standards but still very nice. Good tv and internet. We were very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was excellent. My wife still talks about the breakfast rolls. The walk to the city center is a bit far--we took the city bus in and walked back.

When the Bologna Book Fair changed its 2020 dates due to Covid, I tried to change the date of my stay to the new Fair dates, but the hotel was booked. I called the same day, at the end of Feb and was told by the person I spoke to that they would honor my cancellation request. Two weeks later on 3/7, I still had no refund and got back in touch.

The staff member that checked me out had a very unfriendly demeanor. She was not welcoming at all, she didn’t greet me when I approached the desk, and she didn’t ask how my stay was. In addition, it was an unusually warm weekend in Bologna and for whatever reason, the heat was blasting throughout the entire hotel, making the rooms extremely hot and uncomfortable. When I called the front desk for assistance, they informed me that the hotel didn’t have AC during this time of year and my only option was to open the window. They didn’t offer a fan. Unfortunately, even opening the window wasn’t enough and with the window open, you could here all of the commotion (loud talking, drunk people singing, cars driving by) happening outside. Many of the guests complained about the hot temperatures and how uncomfortable their stay was due to the heat. The breakfast was disappointing as well. The only part of this stay that was enjoyable was the happy hour prepared by a delightful bartender. He was very pleasant and welcoming and really catered to the guests. He prepared great cocktails and a lovely happy hour (aperitivo) with chips, olives, pizza bites and mini sandwiches. I wish I would have gotten his name, because he was awesome and deserves recognition!
