Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
This is a beutiful hotel. It is built within an 18th century former convent, and is sandwiched between a large church and a working friary. The rooms have been designed brilliantly, and are comfortable, spacious and attractive. The hotel's location is also superb - right in the historic centre, five minutes' walk from the cathedral, with many bars, cafes and restaurants nearby.
A good buffet breakfast is served in a wonderful restaurant which appears to have been the convent refectory, superbly maintained. Dinner can also be had there, with supposedly traditional "monastic" fare - quite nice, but on the evening we went it was fairly empty and lacked atmosphere, and the food something of an acquired taste.
There is an indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi, which is free of charge to use pretty much all day.
Best of all there is a lovely central courtyard where cocktails and snacks are served in the open air, or where one can just sit and chat or read.
There is a good car park. Staff are friendly, and helpful.
Why then four and not five stars? Because some improvements are needed. The lovely open-air courtyard is slightly spoiled by the cheap plastic chairs and tables, which are more suitable for a roadside ice cream stall. The indoor cafeteria (snacks, hot drinks and cocktails) gives off a bit of a canteen smell - why not have a bar, or serve drinks, in one of the beautifully furnished public rooms near the reception, like the Salon Giotto?
The shower in the bedrooms is clunky to use and not quite as good as one would expect in such a hotel.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. It's a really great experience and a lovely place to savour Santiago. But it could be so much better with just a few improvements.

An excellent hotel in a brilliant location, only a short walk from the main Cathedral. The room was imaculate and the staff welcoming and attentive, parking was easily accessed and secure, tucked away in the grounds. The pool was a bonus and the restaurant was not only beautiful but the trdaitional dishes were superb. If and when we go back we would definitely stay here.

We felt very comfortable in this hotel (old convent) its location is perfect in getting in to town, however very quiet. Parking was a big plus, rooms were large and comfortable, cleaning was fantastic. Pool was excellent and a great place to relax, our stay here was very good. My only comments would be check what you book, breakfast is not included in most rates and is 22 Euros per person, interestingly this is the first hotel I have never been asked what we thought of our stay? The answer would have been very good. Great location, quiet and free parking makes this a hit.

Hotel in a vast historical monument, near the Cathedral, described as "Fabulous" by Booking. We booked 2 months before the trip (immediate payment not recoverable in case of cancellation). Very friendly staff. Large and free parking. Very comfortable room and bathroom. We are less convinced by the restaurant. The "Comedor Monumental" is located in the former dining room of the monks. It offered during our visit a menu for 27ā¬ or "Ć la carte" (at very good prices), but was almost deserted and silent the evening of our visit. The atmosphere was strange. At breakfast (decent but not extraordinary buffet) a group of Asian tourists brought some entertainment, welcome. In our opinion the hotel (especially its restaurant) suffers from comparison with the nearby Parador (where we had stayed the night before at a fairly comparable overall price, but where you need luck to book a room).

This is a beautiful hotel located in a historic building that used to be a monastery. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated to fit the historic vibe. The bathrooms are also spacious with double sinks and are stocked with various toiletries like toothbrushes, shaving kits and tissues. The breakfast was the best that I had while traveling in Galicia walking the Camino. This is an excellent place to recover after walking the Camino. Location is very convenient, only about a block from Santiago's Cathedral.

Great, food, rooms... and above all the treatment of the guest... out of 10. I chose it for the services it offered, free parking (highly recommended), the location (1 minute from the Cathedral) and the quiet and ancient-modern atmosphere that blends together and makes you think you are in a great palace! I will return when I have the chance!

I loved the calm atmosphere of this stone building. Just on the edge of Santiago de Compostela Old Town, close to shopping, attractions, bakeries, bars etc. Everything worked well - from the elevators to the electrics. Huge single room. Large enough to do yoga in which always helps after traveling. Large bathroom, plenty of space on sink area for make-up, toiletries, etc. Good water pressure. Breakfast Buffett was good and always interesting. Great fruit salad, lovely flan and tortilla. Nice meat slices.
The pool was at perfect swimming temperature and I made good use of it. The grounds are full of mature shrubs and trees and are a delight to sit out under.
Too exhausted to go out to eat so had a hamburger in the restaurant one night. The meat was very well cooked and I would say the perfect burger, and the server was excellent.
Met lots of folks coming off the Camino and they were very friendly.
The staff was very good, especially the gentleman who works the evening shift. He could understand my poor accent very well.

For anyone who has a sense of history, this place is your best accommodation. Though only a four- star hotel, our experience was definitely five-star. It is still a convent but renovated to provide very comfortable rooms. The location is so close to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela making it convenient to go there and explore the city center. Being in an old convent is itself an experience.

*Excellent location: 200 meters from Plaza Obradoiro, without its noise, *Majestic: it is a hotel located in a convent, very large room, high ceiling, furnished in convent style. *Accessories: no coffee maker, no kettle. A very very small refrigerator that, in our case, did not work *Classic/antique bathroom. There is no magnifying mirror, nor a mat in the shower. The dryer is old, low power *Excellent cleaning *Indoor pool with jacuzzi included in the price: fantastic *Free parking: in the convent itself (outdoor garden) there is enough space to leave the car. It is exterior and is right on the hotel grounds, and no one touches your vehicle during your stay

I truly loved this hotel, its unbeatable location next to the cathedral in the old town, both the room and the bathroom were very clean and spacious. We were staying on the fourth floor with views of the beautiful interior cloister, the breakfast room was impressive. Like the entire complex, it is a true gem of a place right in the center and finally the pool and jacuzzi are a real pleasure to end the afternoon, and of course the staff is wonderful, without hesitation I will return to this hotel when I have to go to Santiago.
