Located on a side street off Las Ramblas.
I would like to thank Maite on reception for her help to check us all in & for the room upgrades.
Benny & Kako from the bar were incredibly helpful and looked after our party of 8 - and helped organise & set aside an area for a birthday surprise. The bar has a side room with a fabulous fire place which was backdrop for all our pictures.
Thank you Oscar, for storing our birthday cake in your kitchen fridge.
The highlight of this hotel is the staff & location. Nothing was too much.
Rooms either have window or balcony looking inward to hallway or external to outside. We were well looked after during our stay. Some of us had pre-booked breakfast, I wasn’t impressed by the options at breakfast or the staff, but there’s plenty of places nearby.
The hotel also has a Michelin star restaurant which we didn’t rly, but it has a very reasonably priced set tapas menu.
I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very central and although close to The Ramblas it was tucked away in a side street - no traffic. The hotel staff were extremely courteous and helpful especially as the corona virus stated to come into play. We were with our cousins from Canada who were staying an after we left.
On the Saturday they closed all shops & restaurants. I understand the hotel could not do enough to help our cousins.
The hotel was clean and the rooms had been modernised, tea and coffee facilities were available in the room, we had a small balcony..
The breakfast was delicious and our scrambled eggs were made to order and brought to the table in a little cocotte.
We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this hotel.

My daughter and I arrived in June 9, 2023 and were welcomed by a very friendly reception. We were checked in within minutes and were provided a complimentary beverage in the roof top bar, wifi password, maps and restaurant recommendations. The room was lovely and very clean. The room had robes and sleepers, coffee and cold complimentary beverages in the fridge. Would highly recommend this Hotel. 🇨🇦

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the staff were very nice and friendly, the room was nice, the minibar had free water and pineapple juice. We stayed for 6 nights. The problem was the housekeeping. They never cleaned the room in the morning, they always came late like 3pm. We found this really strange. Also the shower gel run out, they never refilled it, the tissues run out, an empty box was left in the bathroom. We had to ask twice for the pineapple juice. It's these things which were really annoying.
The pool at the rooftop was really tiny. The walls were thin as I could hear the guy next door snoring, no problem for me as I always bring earplugs to hotels. I loved the bathtub.

Firstly I will say that the hotel is located in a brilliant location, straight off las rambles and within walking distance of many sites including the beach. Metro stop close by.
The hotel itself is rated 4* which it could well be if it had some small improvements. The hotel is very nicely decorated and room/bathroom very nice. However the fridge didn’t work and even though we informed reception they did not fix the issue meaning we could not keep any cold bottles of water in our room. Also the air con turns itself off even when the keycard is inserted.

Hotel bar very nice but expensive. Small plunge pool. Did not experience breakfast so can’t comment. Bakery not far outside hotel if you don’t wish to purchase breakfast.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay. We are glad you found our location convenient for your needs and appreciated our decor and style. However, we are concerned to read that some aspects of your stay did not entirely meet your expectations. Please accept our apologies that we were not able to solve the issue with the fridge at the time, we have since looked into this. Furthermore, we regret that you did not make us aware of the issue with the air conditioning during your stay as our team is always ready to assist with any concerns you may have. We are sorry that you found the drink prices expensive, we try hard to keep our prices competitive for the quality provided, although some of these do depend on different brands. We are also sorry that our pool didn't entirely meet your expectations, but as our hotel is a cultural heritage site, we have had to conform to certain restrictions. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best wishes, Thais F., General Manager

Really good location. Rooms were really clean, spacious and have everything you need. However, the phone signal and WiFi was really, really bad making it impossible for me to do any work well. For the three days this remained the same. The staff at the reception tried to be helpful but it still didn’t work. Rooms are also NOT sound proof at all as we could hear the people in the other room and a lot of the noise from the corridor which was very loud. If I could upload a video of the sound from the cleaning and hoover next door in the morning I would. I would recommend this hotel for a couple nights maybe for the location but it was a little bit painful to stay with the bad phone signal, WiFi and noise levels.

The room is unexpectedly small very very tiny space for the price they call them 4 stars hotel. The shower stand room is licking water and barely moving in the room because no space to walk and turning around. Taxi will never stop right in front the hotel you need to carry luggage walk into the hotel. Bad experience not recommended! Sorry I’m just telling the truth and be faithful about my review.

Hotel Espana has many things going for it. Principal among them are its location & employees.
The location of the hotel is one of its top draws. Just a few feet off the touristy La Rambla street, the access is via a small street which is pedestrian o only with vehicular access limited to some service vehicles only. That makes for very quiet environs for the hotel. The location also means it is right next to the Gothic quarter of the city and access to other touristy attractions is easy. There are multiple good restaurants within walking distance as is the famous food market La Bocqueria.
The employees of the hotel were very impressive with two of them going above & beyond. Marta at the front desk was one of the most impressive in this regard along with her colleague Luis.
The rooms, as is usual in big European cities, we’re small and there was no place to sit in our room apart from the bed. Sliding doors were utilized to save space, with the sliding door between our bathroom & bedroom not working.
The bathroom is unsafe for the older guest or those with limited mobility , with a very high stepping bathtub, no anti-skid treatment of bathtub & no grab-bars, putting them at risk for falls.
The general decor of the hotel is very pleasingly Barcelonian. The morning breakfast was outstanding. They did have a restaurant which is closed Mon & Tuesday. The top floor has a small pool, a bar where one can get some food as well.
I would return to the hotel, if & when they fix the safety issues in the bathroom.

Regarding the bathroom safety concerns, we appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration for future improvements. We are glad that you enjoyed our Barcelonian decor and the outstanding breakfast we offer. I love this hotel. The front desk staff was extremely helpful. I had asked days before if they could hold on to a suitcase of mine because I was going to check in to their hotel on Jan 18th. The suitcase was full of wine from our visit in Spain and we were flying to Egypt before our return on the 18th and did not want to take the bag with us. They were very accommodating and had the bag waiting for me when I arrived. The hotel is absolutely stunning, our room was a standard room and it was the perfect size for us and very beautiful/clean. We were staying in Barcelona for one more night before our flight back to the US on Jan 19th. Basically needed a room to put our bags, shower and celebrate one last night in the city. The bar area downstairs is beautiful and the whole aesthetic of the hotel is stunning. We had one glass of Cava in their bar before heading out to dinner and a show. It is in the Le Rambles area of Barcelona which has a ton of bars, restaurants and cafes. If you need a place to stay then this is it. We had a room facing the main/side street off of Le Rambles and had no problem sleeping at night. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again when back in Barcelona.

The Hotel is in a central location about a block off Las Ramblas so the location is not that safe but ideal because it is central. That is all that it has going for. We encountered numerous problems that made our stay, not an ideal one. These are some of the issues we encountered:

1. On our first night, the shower flooded causing water to spill every where. There was
over an inch of water which we did not realize was flooding.
2. The shower faucet was broken and twisted a finger trying to open and close it
A. The only really nice Hotel staff member with great customer service was Oscar
He changed our room to a similar one. He was always very friendly, genuine
and nice to us when ever we encountered him. (It was a pleasure for us meeting
and speaking with him)
3. Unfortunately the other room also had extremely slow drains so we had to be extra
careful, not to slip and fall in the semi flooded shower.
4. The sinks, if not paying attention, would overflow. Additionally, the smell of mold
would come up from the sinks after use
5. The other issue was television did not work (in the whole hotel) for the 4 nights we
stayed. The response was always (Technician is working on this)
6. We tried their breakfast, and not only was the food and quality very poor but for
the content, expensive
7. For a hotel that advertises as a 4 star hotel, the bed/mattress equates to the
comfort of a hostel. The most uncomfortable bed for we have experienced
8. Fixtures in the room like the vents seemed like they were going to fall off
9. Aside from Oscar, the rest of the Hotel staff do not seem to be happy working
there. And the perception is that they are very unhappy and do not want to be
bothered.

So our advise, is really look for another hotel elsewhere in Barcelona until this hotel can fix these issues and really becomes a 4 Star Hotel.

Dear Eddie, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are glad to hear that you appreciated the central location of our establishment, which indeed provides easy access to various attractions in Barcelona. We regret to hear about the issues you experienced with the shower and want to assure you that our maintenance team is dedicated to ensuring all facilities are in proper working order. We are also saddened to hear your comments regarding the room comfort, and while we strive to offer the highest quality with our recent mattresses, it seems we fell short of your expectations. Please know we value your comfort and satisfaction. Additionally, the experience you described with the television service is certainly not reflective of our standards. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your stay. We are also sorry to hear that our breakfast did not meet your expectations. We usually receive positive feedback regarding our varied breakfast options, and we regret that this was not your experience. It is disheartening to learn of your perception of our staff, as we pride ourselves on our team's professionalism and dedication to guest service. We will certainly reflect on your comments to ensure our hospitality meets the high standards our guests expect. The kind words you shared about Oscar are greatly appreciated, and we are delighted to know he made a positive impact during your stay. We hope that you will allow us the opportunity of providing you with an improved stay in the future. Best regards, Thais F., General Manager
