My stay was pleasant overall. I asked for a room with vires and got one on the first floor but with view to the Al-Hambra wall! It was wonderful! I do not have words for that! I appreciate it a lot. Almudena was great, she confirmed a lare c/o, Antonio from the F&B department was great and attentive and the girl who checked me in was wonderful too. Very efficient and she was also aware of my notes and a previous stay in another property in Granada from same hotel chain, Eurostars de Hotusa. I can not remember her name, Silvia perhaps? Thank you so much and enjoyed my hotel experience! Regards! Muchas gracias por todo!
Booked this hotel as it is opposite the Alhambra. The hotel was very quiet. We had an upgraded room. Very spacious with good linens and nice bathroom. Staff were very helpful. We used the swimming pool at the top of the hotel after a hot day in the Alhambra. Had to book a time for breakfast. Breakfast had plenty of choice. No parking on site but you can park opposite at the Alhambra at a discount. You can unload near the hotel. About a 15 minute walk downhill into town. Very hot walk back up. No dinner service in the hotel but we ate at the Parador which is nearby.
Beautiful hotel close to the Alhambra Palace. External facade maintained from original building but all new behind that facade. Modern interior that is largely decorated in neutral tones. Very stylish. Understated luxury. The staff are just wonderful- they truly understand the hospitality sector and make you very welcome during your stay. Service is there when you want it and disappears Into the background when you do not. I had a deluxe room which was larger than expected ( for a Spanish City hotel). High ceilings were great. Very stylish, well appointed and comfortable room. The thread count on the sheets was heavenly ! Lighting options were brilliant with mood, bright reading or work option available on control panel next to bed. Bathroom was brilliant- large tub and 2 basins in first rooms with door leading to separate toilet, bidet, shower - the shower was rainforest with a hand held spray option too. 60 inch screen tv. Disappointingly no coffee facilities. Towels were not up to 5 star standard!! I wanted fluffy and got something closer to cardboard ! Towelling bathrobe was better. Roof top pool and bar was great although rather small given number of bedrooms in hotel . Hotel takes every precaution against Covid-19- rooms are sealed and certified after a deep clean for each new guest and you have option for no cleaning staff to enter your room during your stay. Hand sanitisers all over. Self distancing observed in all areas. Masks to be worn when moving around hotel. All very sensible. I had a room service meal one evening which was very good. Dinner on the restaurant terrace was even better. A fantastic wine list . Breakfast was staff assisted buffet - covid19 requirement. Self service buffet area had all dishes individually prepared and sealed. It was good but not worth the €18pp suppliment ! Hotel does not have a car park and usually valet parking available. However due to Covid-19, valet parking is understandably suspended which means a short walk to /from Alhambra palace Car Park 1 although drop off of luggage at / from hotel is possible. Final mention has to go to the staff who are wonderful. So difficult to single out any individual staff member as that would be unfair to others. I experienced professional, warm and friendly service in all areas of the hotel. I will be back ! …
*this review was written during the coronavirus pandemic and therefore the availability of some amenities may not reflect the hotels usual service. We stayed at the Washington Irving hotel for 3 nights in August 2020. The hotel is located next to the stunning Alhambra, which is a must see. Central Granada is a pleasant 10 minute downhill walk from the hotel. We always got taxis back as we didn’t fancy the uphill climb! They were around €5. The hotel is in a quiet location, there are a few restaurants within short walking distance. It’s very peaceful at night. Parking is at Alhambra Parking. I recommend you drop bags at the hotel, then do a U turn and go back up the hill towards the car park, otherwise it’s a tricky narrow street drive back to the car park. It’s a pretty straightforward walk downhill if you do want to park your car first. Our parking was around €50 payable at the hotel, so you get the discounted rate. Our room was wonderful, 202 overlooks the Alhambra, with two balconies and a huge bathroom with twin sinks and separate shower and bathtub. The Lab Room toiletries were great and I am always impressed with hotels who use full sized bath amenities rather than the million tiny plastic bottles. Robes and slippers are provided. The hairdryer was powerful. The TV has a number of English channels and Netflix was an excellent addition. There is a safe and lots of guidebooks recommend leaving valuables at the hotel if you are visiting some parts of the city - we didn’t have any issues at all and felt perfectly safe in Granada. The room also had various lighting options but we never really figured out how to work them! The bed was huge and super comfortable. The hotel has a small gym with cardio equipment, cross trainer, bike, treadmill and a brilliant spin bike - as a Peleton fan this meant I could access the rides on the app. Perfect! There are no weights or mats (though may have been removed?!) You have to book in to use the gym, we didn’t have any issues getting a slot. The AC is excellent, which was a great change to running outside in 40+ degrees! It would be great if the hotel could provide water in the gym, as the bar is not open in the morning so you cannot access the fridge where bottled water is kept. The pool and terrace are a great feature but sadly it became a battle every day to get a time slot to go to the pool. There are only 6 loungers, so it’s pot luck if you get a lounger or a table. There is a strict policy of 2 in the pool, and they do enforce this. Pool towels are available. You can buy drinks around the pool and the lady who managed the pool was very helpful and did her best to find us a spot when it was busy. The library is a great room, make sure you have a peek in. We didn’t use it but I would have loved to read in there if we had more time. The hotel staff are incredibly hard working, professional and welcoming. They have taken every measure to ensure cleanliness, including disinfecting passports at check in and sealing the room after it has been deep cleaned. We were impressed. Sadly, due to the strict measures there were lots of facilities lacking. The mini bar was cleared out, no tea and coffee facilities in the room and we were only given two bottles of water the day we arrived. It would be great if they could reintroduce these things. Water is available in a fridge, in the bar next to the pool (when open). The restaurant was open for breakfast, taken in three shifts. There was no lunch or any food available during the daytime, which was problematic as many local restaurants close during the siesta. The restaurant opened at 7.30pm each evening. We ate here on our first night, the pasta and fish were both excellent. The menu was limited. Room service was not 24 hours but during the evening only, 7.30 - 11.30pm. This was disappointing. Overall we had an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Our room was wonderful. I wish we had travelled outside of the pandemic to really enjoy the 5 star service. We would return.…
A very nice hotel with decent gym and sauna facilities, a private rooftop pool area, and nicely finished guest rooms and bathrooms. Very convenient to the Alhambra and a good but doable hike to the old town center where the flamenco shows are. The check in was a bit awkward. We had a car and there is no place to stop in front of the hotel. You have to drive a block past the hotel to a small pullout, walk back to the lobby doors to check in, and then a bell hop will help you bring your luggage up the cobblestone street and sidewalk from your car. You cannot self park but the valet parking worked fine.
