The hotel is conveniently located at Postplatz which is where several tram lines converge, and is a 5-minute walk to the Old City. The hotel is spotless and the staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. The hotel provided fresh towels when left on the floor. The sink in the room was small which made it a challenge to fill a half-litre bottle with water. This is a budget hotel: there are no giveaways, no tissues, no hairdryer, no clock, no telephone, no USB ports, no safe, no refrigerator. There is an additional single bunk bed that transverses the head of the full-size bed. The mattress was firm and comfortable and my room was quiet "courtyard view." I found the breakfast choices to be minimal and the cafeteria, at times, was quite crowded. As an alternative, Backerei Mobius, located about 300 meters to the left of the hotel was a lovely alternative. For lap swimmers, there is an Olympic pool that is open to the public at Freiberger Platz - about a 12 minute walk.

Oops! There are two Ibis hotels so naturally I was at the wrong one. Problem solved and once I got reoriented I loved the location!!! Clean, quiet and safe. Check in was easy and my reservation was waiting. I was on the third floor and yes the halls are a bit long and winding but once you realize the courtyard it's fine. The only movable piece of furniture was an odd stool and the luggage rack. No frills but everything needed. Location for coming specifically for the Christmas Markets was amazing. Exit hotel, turn right and there is the StreizelMarket. All the markets were walking distance from hotel. I took train from Berlin and found the streetcars easy to figure out. Oh how I walked and drank and had a blast. Located in the Altmarket indoor mall everything was right there!

Ibis budget Dresden is an unusual one.....ie its really big with many many rooms Its right in the city centre with No on site parking Parking is a paid undergroung parking just down the street costing around 25 to 30 euros per week. Its neat clean tidy as you would expect from an accor hotel One item to remeber the dining room during peak season gets extremely busy All in all it is to be recommended One big plus point ...the staff are great,in particulat the lady on reception. Would i reccomend...yes....9/10

Room is very compact, yet serviceable. Shower located in bedroom. May be awkward for couple, o.k. For solo. Room was quiet, bed comfortable. Breakfast buffet was minimalist for german b&b. Arrive midnight, reception still staffed.

The Ibis Budget was chosen because of its location. Very close to theatre and other places of interest. It was very clean and the staff were very helpful. Security is very good. Room is basic, but as expected.

First off, the location is great next to Postplatz. It's literally few steps to attractions Semperoper, Residenzschloss, Zwinger, Frauenkirche and the Elbe river. The rooms are tiny with the shower and washbasin inside the actual room, only the toilet separated by a door. There was dust below the beds and the room has seen better days. Overall it was ok, the beds comfy, and cleanliness on an average level. The price was fair given what we got. The breakfast is 8.50 EUR per person. You get some basics. Non-dairy milk (soy / oat) is not available which caused some issues with the cerials (use water or juice). Bottom line is that you get some food, but don't ask for fancy stuff or look for regional items or sustainability.

I am very familiar with IBIS and IBIS Styles properties, but this was my first experience of the IBIS Budget brand and although I think I paid a higher rate than it's worth, you still get the good IBIS experience, but with minimally less frills. In all honesty, the experience is really not that much different to the other IBIS brands and you get a comfortable, clean experience. The hotel is ideally located for exploring Dresden. It's just a short walk from the Elbe and the main sights. You can walk to the hotel from the main train station, although depending on how much luggage you have, you can also ride the 11 tram to the hotel door from the station. The hotel is next door to the main shopping mall for the city. The hotel has friendly staff, but as of December 2021, you need a COVID vaccination to stay here and although I was here on business, I received an email after I booked telling me tourists are currently not permitted to stay here. I don't know how that is actually enforced. The rooms are basic, but generally clean. Laminate floors are always my preference to carpeting, so that's a bonus. The bed is comfortable, with clean, but old linens. Cutely, the double bed had a single bunk bed above it. There's free, reliable WIFI and a flat screen TV, a small (very small) desk with a stool and some room for bags and hanging clothes, but not much. The toilet is separated, but the shower/sink is in the room itself. There's excellent water pressure and the shower has a locked container of shower gel. There's a small bar of soap on the sink at check in, but this was never replaced. Towels are old and they only provide one per room. There is no hair dryer, but for E10 you can 'rent' one from the front desk. Somedays there was no housekeeping, but you can get a clean towel from the front desk. I didn't use it, but you can rent bikes to explore the city. A cool idea. Breakfast is plentiful. Mainly cold meats and cheeses, but also some veggies. Yogurt, breads, coffee, tea, milk, juice etc. Everything you really could want. The only negative was the fruit. The apples were so old and soft, their skin was sticky and wrinkled. There were some old small satsumas too, but they were dried out. There is no noise from other rooms and although well heated, I was glad also to be able to open the window for fresh air. You can't really go wrong with IBIS and the budget brand delivers just as well as the other brands. I just feel it was a little over priced.

I was formerly a fan of the Ibis chain, but after Berlin Ibis Styles Mitte & Ibis Budget Dresden , I am no longer. They're both average or worse. Not much except location to like in either for a room that's 30 Euro's overpriced. The staff of this Dresden Ibis were very surly , even for Saxons! Not sure why , Dresden is an amazingly beautiful town, with so much to see. Not sure why, but neither Ibis has a simple laundry facility for guests WHY??

Hello dear Steve M, sorry for the late reply, but we haven't forgotten you. We are very sorry that we were not able to convince you of our hotel concept. At the same time, we would like to remind you, very politely, that ibis hotels belong to the economy segment. The ibis budget brand is one of the 1 star hotels. Basic comfort at a bargain price. At €30 per night, we are at the lowest price level of German hotel prices. Incidentally, laundromats are not as widespread in Germany as in other countries. But we certainly recommended the laundry in the Altmarktgalerie, which is only a few steps away from us. We thank you for your trust and greet you warmly from Dresden. D. My experience was not great, the room was extremely smelly and rather old. The breakfast was soggy and unappetising and the coffee was terrible. The booking system was really catastrophic as they cannot allow too many people inside the dining room. At this price, I was expecting better quality.
