A city hotel surrounded by historical monuments, the splendor of renowned boulevards and crisscrossed by narrow streets, tucked away and protected from noisy streets in central Munich. Enjoy most central location, beautiful facilities, close proximity to the Bavarian State Opera and the Marienplatz. With fine, Italian cuisine, we welcome you in our Osteria Il Tenore. Munich enjoys a well-deserved reputation for its hospitality and we're glad to be a part of that ongoing tradition. It is our sincere wish to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is near Marienplatz, with it's famous clock. It is only a short stop on the SBahn to the central station, so very convenient for sightseeing in Munich and taking day trips elsewhere. The rooms are modern in appearance, on the smaller side, but the bathrooms are a good size. We didn't pay for breakfast, as it was an added cost but it is available. They did have complimentary water in the room, as well as a minibar and snacks you could pay for. It is a very nice, smaller hotel in a convenient location and we would stay there again.

This hotel was quite of a letdown. It was pretty expensive (understandably as it was central) however we didn't expect it to be how it turned out. Water bottles were chargeable. Some of the lamps in the room were not working (and were never fixed throughout our stay). The corridors were gloomy and rooms were not cleaned (there were still leaves and dust when we arrived and a dirty bathrobe probably from the previous occupant in the toilet). Given the price we paid, we were expecting at least a decent service.
When we highlighted it to the reception, the staff just told us that it wasn't his shift or it was the problem of the other staff that we brought it up to..
It was convenient to sights and close by to the subway/train station however we won't be staying here again. I am sure there are other hotels around that are better.

The perfect place to stay for a weekend in Munich, the hotel is 5mn walk from Marienplatz and 2mn away from the famous HB tavern. The rooms are cozy and clean, the service at the reception desk is friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is nice and the buffet perfect for a breakfast.

Other than good location not not stay here again. worth staying here. Dingy rooms and not very comfortable beds. Front desk staff is mediocre especially the older lady. Very expensive price for such a disappointing hotel. We would not stay here again.

This is a small, older hotel, but well located. We found the rooms and beds comfortable. The common areas had us a little worried. The staircase had cobwebs on it, the carpet is a bit work and the hallways are dark (motion detectors will turn on lights after a second), but the rooms were perfectly clean. But after staying here 3 nights, I would recommend it for the location alone. We were so close to everything we wanted to see and do.

We stayed here for two nights and thought the location was terrific. You are in shopping heaven and right around the corner from the Hofbrauhaus. The staff is to-the-point, the rooms are basic and clean, but the main street is NOISY. My only recommendation would be to request a room opposite of the street and to bring a pair of earplugs!

Although this little gem has a convenient location in the old part of Munich it is still quiet (especially if you ask for room in the back). One block away is the famed Maximillian Strasse with the elegant shops of the world. In the other direction is the hustle of beer halls, the Marienplatz and the U-Bahn (the underground). I have been staying there for years. But don't expect a large lobby--there is none. Or the amenities of a large urban hotel. This one is older and small, with free WIFi. The breakfasts are terrific.

The location is great- within stumbling distance to the Hofbrauhaus and an easy walk to the Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt but.. the decor is terribly dated, the beds and pillows are less than comfortable, staff was so-so, and the price was high. No free wifi and breakfast not included. Not a great value- certain there must be better values out there.

We stayed at the hotel in October 2004. Our first problem with the hotel was findings its location. We had emailed the hotel a couple of times and received very criptic directions to the hotel. If you have ever driven in Munich, Germany, you know how difficult it is to find an address. Once we did find the hotel (in a remote location on a side street) we were shocked that the hotel did not provide more helpful assistance. We were further discouraged to find that the hotel would not honor the price quoted to us through an internet reservation confirmation. The hotel informed us that the price was for single occupancy (eventhough we had asked for reservations for 4 persons--2 persons in each room). Finally, the staff at the hotel was cold and uninterested in assisting foreign visitors. We stayed in wonderful hotels and inns throughout Germany that provided beautiful accommodations. This was the only disappointment.

We happened upon the Inn An Der Oper about a year ago and it was exactly what we'd hoped for! Small lobby but charming in a German sort of way. It looked like it belonged there and we could come and go as we pleased - almost as if we lived there. Rooms VERY clean and functional but with some charm.
The best part perhaps is the location - it's directly across from the Opera Hall and about a 6 minute walk to Marienplatz - near the activity but quiet.
I'd stay there again in a minute.
