Travelers' Choice
The Art Deco spirit finds a home in the décor of this fine Normandy residence, both a welcoming restaurant and a fine hotel. With its red marble, white leather, peacockblue walls and Murano glassfeather chandeliers, Le Jardin des Plumes is not just a place, it’s a state of mind: here the emphasis is on authenticity, simplicity, good taste, colour, location, and attentive service in both hotel and restaurant... not forgetting the Norman touch!

Mid-June, I booked a room and dinner for my best friend's birthday on August 12th. Luckily I had booked early because both the restaurant and the hotel were sold out. Wednesday, August 12th, we had a wonderful "impressionist" culinary journey in 7 paintings. The restaurant was sold out (as is probably the case for dinner since Chef Gallienne's victory at Top Chef'2020 French contest). We stayed in the annex, ground floor in a room called "Cotentine". It's a room for disabled guests but it did not bother us at all as we had a huge shower which was fantastic. We had a little terrace. The room was a good size, perfect for us. We like the colors and amenities. I liked very much the wooden blinds. There is a small mini bar complementary (water, apple juice). We had a welcome cake in our room. Some remarks about our room: a lamp on the desk would be great, especially if you need to work on your computer. There is no AC. It was OK because at night in Normandy, the temperature drops, but during the day it might be an inconvenience. Because the room is nearby the back of the kitchen in the morning we had experienced an early supplier delivery. Last but not least, we found the breakfast was overpriced 19 Euros per person. Due to the COVID, breakfast is served in the room. Therefore, we opted for not having breakfast. Furthermore, there was a slight drizzle and we could not even use our lovely terrace. Besides these points, the Jardin des Plumes is an enchanting place, with a lovely park. I hope one day there will be a pool (especially during the hot summer). The staff is pleasant. It's a small hotel (8 rooms) therefore, the sooner you book, the better it is. When booking, do mention which room you want (main building or annex and also indicate if you want a separate bathroom as some of the rooms have the bathtub in the room). The main building is an authentic and beautiful Anglo-Norman house built in 1912 which abandoned for many years but has regained its splendor in the heart of the village of Giverny. It is now a charming hotel where old stones rub shoulders with glass, bathed in light, and a restaurant, starred in the Michelin guide since 2015. We had dinner. We took the "Impressionist" menu (7 courses) which was a pure delight. The discreet, unobtrusive service was very professional. We felt the attention to detail, the sensitivity of the chef who knows how to translate his emotion perfectly into each dish which is, without a doubt, meticulously studied. None of the flavors encroached on the other or on the dish itself, everything was skilfully measured out. Each spice or seasoning, diffused in small touches, delicately enhances the dish. We were in the main dining room (there are also 2 other rooms). There is a "chef's table" overlooking the kitchen. What a wonderful culinary journey. We traveled for 3 hours in David Gallienne's gastronomic galaxy and can't wait to get back.

We stopped at Le Jardin des Plumes for just one night. I would have been very happy if it had been more. The room was large, spotlessly clean, well appointed, with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was well equipped and plenty of soaps, shampoos and soft, large towels. Bathrobes were provided. The staff were professional, personable and willing to help at all times. VERY good experience. I shall be going back.

We travel yearly throughout France every end of the year on a Long extended family trip to savour the taste of France. This trip we drove here from Deauville just to have a nice family lunch. Read several good reviews but was appalled to find out for ourselves that the main courses were poorly executed. We ordered 2 beef main and 2 monkfish. All were exceptionally salty. Understand that the resto prides themselves in utilising fine quality of locally sourced products. Yet, so much salt was added to the dish you fail to taste anything but salt. All in all, a disappointing meal that failed to highlight & let the natural flavours of the products shine through. It is good to note that the complimentary starters and desserts were executed well, however, it doesn’t make up for a terribly poor execution in mains. We feedback that the food was too salty but the comeback from the server was that the kitchen tasted it and felt it was normal. In my opinion, this “normal” is not acceptable. My recommendation is to take your money elsewhere.

Very caring staff! We had a minor emergency and the evening staff went way above the call of duty to help us! 40euros for breakfast (2 people) that consisted of crossiants, some breads, retail yougrt, hard boiled eggs and a beverage was over the top. Also, the dinner was over priced and the wine stewart tried his best to sell us a 70 euro bottle of wine. When we didn't take him up on it we never saw him again!

Good location, an easy walk to the Monet Gardens. We found the service to be friendly, the rooms comfortable and well appointed. We were on the ground floor which did feel slightly closed in. Just be aware that some rooms only have a bath and some only a shower so if you have a preference make sure you request it.
