My wife and I spent the best night of our long marriage in this inn. Everything was magical. I would like to thank the hosts for a night of wonder! We came upon it at night and were blessed to find a room and a whole new level of hospitality!
We were in Room 104. It was the epitome of staying in the quintessential French Chateau. Bernard was an excellent host. We stayed two nights and slept very comfortably. On the first night Bernard told us about a fabulous restaurant he recommended and as it turned out it was one of the Michelin Star restaurants we were considering in the area, Hotel Au Bon Accueil. Outstanding French cuisine at an affordable price. We!ve been touring Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and France for the last 5 weeks with one more week to go and this will definitely be one of our more memorable stops. Highly recommended!!
Idiosyncratic and quite charming. The hotel lies in its own private grounds, a short drive north on the main road to Tarbes. The terrace in front of the house boasts good views of the Pyrenees. We heard practically no traffic noise A one night stay with my wife for the occasion of an Anniversary, having spent a wonderful sunny October day in the mountains. We were the only guests, but such is the intimacy of the house it felt like being in a private home. There are only a few rooms, ours was spacious with excellent bathroom facilities. Most of the furnishings are beautiful antiques, all adding that extra degree of quality The breakfast lounge is full of character and our host served a very generous repast. From freshly squeezed Orange juice to local jams a delight to start the day. The hotel is only open from April to October, be sure to book. And in comparison to the soulless hotels in town a gift at €89 B&B…
A house built in 1930, yet conditioned to 21st century. Mr. Bernard the owner is a very welcoming person. He takes you on a private tour when you arrive, shows you the details of his property with great pride and humble, and will entertain you while you stay with interesting conversation. Great place to stop for a night!
My wife and I stayed at Le Relais de Saux and was fantastic. It's a little quirky - full of french period furniture and fittings which provided a great feel to the guesthouse The rooms were very large and well kept and breakfast we terrific Barnard also recommended a great local restaurant - 3k away that was also a terrific place in a local village Quiet and French vintage - a great find
Spent two nights here in the most fantastic room with amazing walk in shower, lounge area, TV, fridge stocked with beer, wonderfully comfortable bed. Real old fashioned charm at a real old fashioned price ... And the Breakfast (included in the price) so good and so plentiful you won't want / need lunch. The owner / proprietor is a real character - charming and gracious with a wicked sense of humour and great advice as to where to go and where to eat. Best place we've stayed in ages
We stayed for 1 night only but would love to return. The owner was so helpful, as my husband was not good at managing stairs he let me have the key to the door on the first floor and to park our car on the upper car park. The room was magnificent, it felt like a real chateau, comfortable and very clean. Unfortunately there were no dinner facilities but we found a lovely restaurant not too far away. Breakfast was wonderful, probably one of the best we have had in French hotels.
This is a quaint old French home that is full of antique furniture and ambiance. We found the owner to be very friendly and helpful. When we were going in to Lourdes he gave us advice on the best route through the town, the best place to park and recommended a good place to dine. Then to our surprise he gave us a few croissants to take with us for an afternoon snack. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay here again.
It may be too late to comment on this property as no reviews have been posted for a year it may be closed. However having returned from another trip memories of our 1 night there last year (September 2011) were triggered by a similarly disappointing stay. Relais de Saux had seen better days. We were given a choice of 2 rooms. The first was upstairs at the front of the house and was stiflingly hot with flies circling, but it was its proximity to a noisy main road that decided us on the second. This was downstairs with very tired decor and a view over a couple of dilapidated, rusty old cars in a yard but was a least away from the noisy road. Not a comfortable night and we had to drive a couple of miles to find somewhere to eat recommended by the owner but very poor.
