Nestled in a prime spot for exploring Killarney's charm, the Killarney Plaza Hotel and Spa is lauded for its luxurious vibe and exceptional service, with the spa amenities and professional staff frequently earning accolades from guests. The rooms, while comfortable and clean, have drawn some criticism for being outdated.
While opinions on value vary, many visitors feel the location and amenities justify the cost. Despite occasional service hiccups and areas needing a refresh, the overall atmosphere and cleanliness are consistently praised.

Detailed Reviews
Arrived on Friday for 3 nights with our 20 month old from our arrival we felt a warm welcome. Safety of guests was very visible and everyone wore their masks around the hotel and there was plenty of hand sanitizer stations all over, you do not sit around and have drinks but can order drinks to your room, no delivery charge. We had dinner 2 nights in the Tan Yard and it was absolutely stunning from starters to desserts. We had lunch on Saturday in cafe du Parc and sat outside it was beautiful make sure u try the french toast it’s delicious! On Sat night we are in the piano bar and again food was top quality and it is a huge area so you feel very safe with social distancing been adhered too. Breakfast is in this location also with plenty of staff, who are extremely well trained in Covid guidelines and customer service, breakfast is cooked fresh and brought to your table and the full Irish breakfast is beautiful and so fresh. We booked to use the leisure centre with our little girl on sat afternoon and again it didn’t disappoint it was lovely and quiet and very clean. On Sunday evening after dinner I was speaking with Ciara Forde, Guest Relations manager and when we went back to our room there was a bottle of wine, cookies for our daughter and a card from Ciara, a fabulous touch and very much appreciated. We felt very much spoilt so thank you. On Monday morning before we left I had a treatment booked in the spa, it was a fabulous experience, make sure you use the hydrotherapy pool before your treatment to completely relax and at the end of the treatment you are brought to the relaxation garden. It was a lovely treat and a great way to end our staycation. Location is fantastic across from Killarney National Park and the town centre. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will definitely be back, already looking up to book again!!!

Stayed here for 1 nights B&B and found it good value and centrally located. We didn't manage to get into the residents car park but we did arrive around 5pm on a Saturday and could easily park close by. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The room was clean and nice with complimentary water, though we found the noise coming through the closed door, as people passed by, slightly ouder than what you would expect, with what seemed like normal conversation levels. The cereal and fruit for breakfast was very good. We didn't have many of the cooked items (eggs, tomatoes & beans only) and thought they were fine but could have been a little tastier. Over all though, we enjoyed our stay, we would go back and I would recommend the hotel. It is central and it is good value.

Dear TheMcGuv, Thank you for your comments following your recent stay with us. I was pleased to hear that your that you had a pleasant arrival experience and I have passed on your compliments ON cleanliness to our Housekeeping Team who very much appreciate being recognized for their hard work. It was bothersome to learn that noises from the corridor interrupted you throughout your stay. Unfortunately, as we were unaware that you were experiencing said disturbance we were unable to satisfactorily resolve the issue by perhaps relocating you to a quieter room slightly further from the lift area. We have also taken on board your comments regarding our hot breakfast offering as our Chefs are constantly looking for constructive feedback in order to improve, so for this I thank you. We hope to see you again in the near future. Sincerely, Ciara Forde Guest Relations Manager

Just back from 3 night stay at the Killarney Plaza Hotel its a beautiful hotel right in the centre of Killarney town.Resturants and shops are within 5 minutes walk. The rooms are very comfortable and a good size with slippers and robes provided. They also left chocolate in our rooms on the day we arrived it was a lovely touch. Also in my parents room they left little treats for my Dad as he was celebrating his birthday. Due to Covid 19 you have to request tea/coffee facilites if you want them in the room before you arrive. Also if you need fresh towels or your room cleaned you also need to request this as cleaning staff will not enter your room without your say. There is hand santizers all over the hotel and staff were all wearing masks. Breakfast was beautiful a large choice on the menu and if you wanted something not on the menu i.e. pancakes, omelletts or pastries there was never a problem in getting it. I want to mention one of the waitress Aoife she was lovely really chatty and nothing was a problem if we needed it. She even came over on our last morning to say hello to us and to see how we got on the previous day.
There is one little I would recommend a wheelchair press button as doors in the halls leading to the rooms were always closed and for a wheelchair user it can be very annoying but lucky for me I was with family and they were able to open doors but for a wheelchair user on there own it would very hard.
Would highly recommed this hotel to anyone and cannot wait to go back!!

We were a group of nine people and we had 5 rooms booked. Check in was painless everything explained very well to us regarding changes due to Covid ie not cleaning rooms etc unless specifically requested by the customer. We were happy with this as the less people coming into your room the better. I felt they were very covid aware never saw a staff member without a mask and sanitizer everywhere. The staff were pleasant and were happy to help. The breakfast was good but the toast was more like hot bread there was no homemade brown break offered there was also no marmalade. These are litttle things that need to be addressed but did not take from our enjoyment. The hotel is very very central and everywhere is walkable from it. The parking can be a bit tricky but there is two public car parks right behind the hotel and they will refund you for all parking costs if no spots available in the hotel carpark. Well done Plaza Killarney I would return

We stayed here at the weekend. The hotel and bars are really nice and well designed. The rooms are so outdated and not clean at all. There was sweets stuck to the lamp on the room from the previous guest (don't know how housekeeping missed this we spotted it the minute we walked in). Our room was situated at the back of the building over the delivery entrance. We understand that deliveries have to come in but to have someone drilling at 6.30am on a Saturday morning and then someone power hosing at 7.30am after that on a Saturday morning. The cleaning of the tarmac/moss could not have been that urgent that it needed to be done at that time and so early in the morning while the hotel was fully booked.
Breakfast was the biggest let down. It was very busy which wasn't a problem but the man that was serving breakfast looked like he didn't know what he was doing. I asked for 2 pancakes on a separate plate (twice to make sure) and he still pilled the rest of the breakfast onto the plate with the pancake. Quality of the ingredients was very very poor. The eggs were disgusting and the sausage quality was terrible full of fat inside. We received our coffee and the toast we asked for never arrived. We eventually got up and left not eating any of the breakfast. We had breakfast booked for the Sunday morning but we decided to go into town to a cafe instead.
We had dinner and drinks in the tan yard bar which was really nice and the staff in there were really lovely and helpful. We also had bike hire included in our stay and the man that gave us the bikes was so chatty and nice we really enjoyed that.
Parking is a bit of a nightmare. Hotel carpark is always full and the public car park is always full.
Our stay ended up being very expensive as everything 'included' in our meal package had an extra charge. I would not return as we got hardly any sleep and the room was not clean.

We enjoyed our stay at the Killarney Plaza. We booked especially for the leisure center, and we were not disappointed (except maybe to extend hours in the morning and evening to accommodate guests' needs).
The jacuzzi is quite relaxing, and the fitness center is very expansive. Machines and equipment are in good condition. The changing area is problematic, as it requires an attendant at the desk to allow entry (and there isn't always an attendant). Also, the bathrooms in the changing area were not cleaned from the evening before, as same issue in the toilet area was still present.
The room is spacious - we had a queen deluxe. The room stated "park view' but the window is quite small and it was more of an "end of park view", so I don't know that I would pay a premium for it. The room had a double bed and a single bed. The beds themselves are quite comfortable.
The breakfast was included in our stay - toast, juice, tea or coffee, and then a selection of hot and cold items. Lots of fresh fruit, cheeses, then potatoes, tomatoes, pancakes, eggs, etc. It was a typical breakfast.
The location of the hotel is great, within walking distance of so many shops, restaurants, and sites. Overall, despite a few hiccups, we enjoyed our time.

I have never had such an overall amazing experience from anywhere before! This was my first time ever visiting Killarney and I loved every moment, as we walked into the beautiful Plaza reception area, we were greeted and checked in by a lovely receptionist by the name of Jessica, who explained all the guidelines and amenities of the Hotel. She then informed us that we had been upgraded to a suite on account of it being my Birthday, my boyfriend and I were so pleasantly surprised. Once we had finished our checking in we were offered a complimentary glass of Mulled Wine, which was just delicious and such a lovely treat coming in from the cold. We made our way to our room which I was gobsmacked with, it was so large and spacious with a beautiful bathroom, and the comfiest bed I have ever slept on! The General Manager left a lovely card welcoming us and wishing a Happy Birthday. The view of the park was stunning with sweeping mountains and lake front in the distance. We opted to get breakfast to our room, which came to a very reasonable €10 charge, but so worth it for the comfort of getting ready to go to the Spa that we booked the following morning. We went to the Café du Parc and the Host found us a seat and we had time to grab some Lunch, which we both of the Black Pudding Hash, which was delicious, and some cocktails! Every single cocktail we had there was just so tasty! That evening we had booked the Tanyard, we we’re greeted by Angelo the Host at the time, our waitress who was so very attentive and sweet, Lydia, also David, the expert Cocktail maker!! My Boyfriend and I got the Crab Muffin to start, which is so perfectly delicious and light, not to fill you up before Mains. I got the Lamb which was perfectly pink as was my Boyfriends steak. Special thank you to Will the head chef and the excellent team that are in behind the scenes making excellent food. Honesty every single experience was just 5 star, the staff were just so so lovely, friendly and just from my own perspective coming from previously working in a hotel, it just brings me such joy to see that the staff genuinely seemed to be so happy working there, from the person that checked us in at the car park to all the staff that just saw us in the hallways, every single one greeting us and so polite!! I wish I got all their names to mention them here. The next morning after our breakfast was brought to us by Sean and then we made our way down to the Spa which was top notch, Carrie looked after us here after our Serail Experience which was very reasonable priced. I just thank every single staff member for such a wonderful experience, you are all a credit to the Hotel, you all made it such a great weekend! We can’t wait to visit in the summer time again! I’m terrible I didn’t get more pictures but next time I will ~ Natasha

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Killarney Plaza for a total of two nights, and it certainly did not disappoint. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Shane Logan (Concierge Manager) who very kindly gave us a tour of the hotel. Before he showed us up to our room we were checked in by Roisin and Rachel who had the warmest of smiles and answered any questions we had. The room itself was breath taking as it overlooked Killarney National Park and was spotless. The cleaners during our stay were also very helpful as when we asked for extra towels, they did not hesitate to help us out and dropped them into us straight away.
We had dinner in The Tan Yard restaurant and again were greeted with a huge smile by the amazing Rose Marie. The highest of compliments to Rose Marie as she made us feel so welcome throughout our meal and went above and beyond to ensure that we were ok for everything. That evening we followed up with some cocktails in Cafe Du Park and once again were taken back by the staff in particular Cayleigh and Aaron. Cayleigh helped recommend some of the most amazing cocktails and again provided the best service with a smile. Aaron on top of making the most delicious cocktails also went out of his way to create a unique cocktail just for us.
Being so central to all that Killarney has to offer we were spoilt with choice. With many thanks to Roisin's recommendations and Shane's amazing handbook there was not a dull moment during our trip.
I could not recommend the Killarney Plaza Hotel and Spa enough from the exceptional staff to the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms to the central location I think that this hotel is perfect for all people young and old, for couples and families. I already cannot wait to come back.

Stayed here on 3 night break over new year and I can honestly say it was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Starting with the car park which was horrific and so tight in places it was a nightmare to try and park there and also the fact that no staff check the car park meant that people parked in every nook and corner making it virtually impossible to get in or out of the car park. Reception was ok and then we get to the room which was pretty average and certainly didn’t deserve to be called a deluxe room. The bathroom was very dated and the hot water was very hit and miss and I had to leave a note for housekeeping to leave us more shower gel as they had only left one btl on arrival. Deluxe service it definitely wasn’t. The bed was very comfortable but the carpet was badly stained in places. The dining room for breakfast was one of the dullest rooms I have ever been in. Breakfast was buffet style and that in itself is a pretty horrendous experience in any hotel. A 4 star hotel should have waiting staff at breakfast. There was a great choice at the breakfast bar but it was lukewarm and the plates were cold so by the time you got to sit down and eat,the food was cold. There is waiting staff there to bring the tea and coffee and we were greeted on our last morning by the rudest most abrupt waitress I’ve ever met.The hotel has a policy of ‘kids are very welcome ‘ but they must be supervised at all times. There were a lot of kids unsupervised, running around like wild animals and no staff member did anything about it. In fact in the dining room at breakfast it was actually quite dangerous. We go to Killarney a few times a year and this was our first time staying here and we definitely won’t be repeating the experience. There are a lot of very good hotels with a lesser star rating than this one and they have a much higher standard of service to their guests with none of the arrogance that this hotel and it’s staff have.

I was concerned to learn that your room allocation was not to your satisfaction. However, had you mentioned your dissatisfaction with your room we would have been more than happy to check our availability in order to reallocate your room subject to availability. I trust you will accept my assurance that I have reviewed and discussed the issues you expressed on our Restaurant in detail with my senior Management and Duty Management team, to ensure that we handle this type of situation in a far more professional and understanding manner in future. we stayed 4 nights at the plaza it is a fab hotel staff were very nice, the only problem I had was the food. the first night we stayed we went to the tan yard restautant in the hotel i ordered the rib of beef o my god it was horrible when it arrived it was in big lumps and all fat the way it was on the plate was disgusting . The manager was very nice and was very sorry and did not charge me for the food. We we booked for breakfast every morning at 9,30am for breakfast so the first morning we went for breakfast and again was unable to eat the hash brown was full of oil the rasher had a funny taste, we did not get toast so when i asked the girl for it we were leaving the before we got this, Other wise this hotel is a fab hotel great location and great staff
