Just back from a four night stay at the Torc. To be fair there were plenty of positives, and up until the last night we were planning to return. The bedrooms are basic but comfortable. What you'd expect really from a three star hotel. We requested an accessible room and had a lovely walk in shower which was very much appreciated due to mobility issues. The beds are up there with the most comfortable hotel beds we've slept in, and the pillows are really good too. The staff at the hotel that we came across were very polite and friendly. The breakfast was good. We didn't bother with the cooked options as there was plenty on the continental for us. We had dinner included on three of our nights, and we were so impressed with the food that we ate in the bar again on our final night. The portions of food are absolutely massive. We would be fussy eaters, and I'm a vegetarian, but the staff went above and beyond making sure we were happy with what we were getting, and even letting us order options off the main menu when the included set menu didn't suit us on certain nights. On the final night however, after we had gone to bed, there was a mix up on reception where another guest was given a key to our room. It was a nasty fright for us, and I'm sure for him, to have someone enter our bedroom when we were in bed. My travel companion managed to get to sleep after a while, but I was awake for the entire night. In fairness to the hotel, I suffer from anxiety issues anyway, and that's obviously not there fault. We were disappointed by the way the whole situation was handled though. Reception were made aware of the incident by the man who entered our room, as he needed to sort his room for the night. No one from the hotel approached us to apologize or explain what happened and what they were going to do to prevent it happening in the future. It was left to is to bring it up, in a nice way, at checkout, and the receptionist on duty was fully aware of the incident. She did say sorry and admit that it shouldn't have happened, but in our minds at that stage it was too little too late. We felt unsafe in our room and that should never be the case. For this reason, despite the fact that up until then we had a great time, we will not return to this hotel.

Stayed for 2 nights, when booking we asked about different room types, opted and paid extra for superior room as was told there was a view from the room. The room had small window overlooking the car park. No hot water in bathroom so Sat morning we mentioned no hot water in sink or shower, advised us they checked and it should be fine then. It was just about luke warm that evening, sun morning shower water was freezing again. Mentioned to reception on checkout and she wasn't to bothered at all. A room up from us had sick all over the hall outside their door sat night, had to walk around it, it was still there sun mornin,. we didn't even mention to reception as she wasn't bothered on hearing anything. Food was lovely in evening, breakfast slightly undercooked. Would not recommend to stay

We stayed at this hotel as part of a large group that travelled from Wexford. The hotel catered for each and every one of our needs. The food in the Bistro was fabulous and the breakfast the following morning offered an extensive range of food to suit everyone. The location is only a short drive to the centre of Killarney. Would highly recommend The Torc Hotel.
