As a single woman I would feel much more comfortable with a security chain & peephole on the door. The volume on the TV was not working. I asked twice to have it seen to but nothing happened. When I again mentioned it at check out the following morning the receptionist claimed to know nothing about what was called a hotel wide fault the previous evening & said I should have reported it!!! Why was nobody listening to me?

Nice hotel with comfortable and well-kept room. Loved the gym and pool. Good value for money, with the exception of evening meal in the hotel bar. The food was good, but I paid nearly €50 for a main course and 2 glasses of wine.

When we arrived on Friday we had to ask for the Prosecco that was supposed to be in the room for arrival, not a huge issue. Went to the spa to relax before dinner and the jacuzzi was out of order and the pool was cold. We couldn’t use the sauna or steam room as they were full so we left after 15 minutes. We headed down for dinner and I asked reception which restaurant we were booked into and they advised it didn’t say on the system just to try whichever one. We went to mcgettigins and the food was lovely but there was a large group of people arrived for a poker tournament so that meant we didn’t receive any service from the time they arrived until they left. We couldn’t ask for another drink or have our plates taken to order dessert. Once they left someone came to ask if we wanted a drink. On Saturday we went into the Croft bar for a couple of hours and then I made them aware we were booked for our afternoon tea for 2.30. They had to check with the kitchen as they were told there was only one afternoon tea on that day. Turned out we weren’t booked in and the kitchen needed a bit of time to prepare for us as there was a funeral party. It wasn’t an overly long wait which was fine but once we were seated in the tea room we ordered a drink for both of us. My husbands drink never arrived and no one returned to check on us whilst we were there. After 30 minutes we left. Some of the pastries were still frozen inside I’m assuming as the kitchen weren’t prepared for us given the booking wasn’t made with them. I spoke to the manager on the night before our departure and was asked to send everything in an email, which I did a week ago and despite a chaser email still haven’t had any acknowledgment from the hotel. It is definitely not a 4 star hotel, it may have the facilities to list as a 4 star but certainly not the quality

I WOULD NOT RETURN! The staff to begin were fantastic, we had absolutely no issues with any staff member, they were very helpful and attentive. However... Our room 4141 was exceedingly warm. The air con didn't work, but instead circulated very warm air around the room. This is a pity because air con is somethin that's important. Especially in a room where you can only open the window about 2 inches. Next, I had requested a fridge in our room. We did have a fridge, but we loaded it up and went down to the bar for a few hours. When we returned the bottles we had put in were warmer and the Chocs we had put in had actually melted. This meant countless trips to have an ice bucket refilled. Not ideal, I'm sure you can agree. Worse than the heat of the fridge, was the smell of the fridge. It smelt like someone had just doused it in bleach. This lead to beers etc tasting of bleach when drinking from the cans. Next was the pool and facilities. Upon booking, the website showed powerful jets for massage etc in the pool. These did not work and 1 guest who stays frequently explained that they had not worked in months. We do understand that at times things need maintenance, but this was ongoing for months and guests should be made aware when booking as it was 1 of the main reasons I had chosen the Bonnington. The worst and most frustrating part of our stay was on the Sat afternoon, our TV turned onto silent and it wasn't possible to get the sound back. We called reception and waited an hour. Noone arrived, so my wife rang again. She was told that reception would call us back with a time for the fix as the maintenance guy was snowed under. This is not our problem, the hotel should have ample staff, especially when it wants to be classed as a 4star. In a further 15 mins reception called the room and asked us to pack our stuff, as we would be going to a new room as no time could be given for the maintenance man to arrive. So my wife and I packed the entire room up of all of our belongings and waited for the guy from reception to arrive. Instead Alex arrived and spent 15 mins fixing the TV. Then we had to unpack all of our stuff, for the 2nd time in 2 days. Reception never contacted again to see if it had been resolved or even offer an apology. I understand you may think that packing a bag and unpacking isn't a big deal, but when we have paid a lot of money for a relaxing stay, we didn't get that. As I said earlier, it is not likely we would use your hotel again, due to these factors and a small number of others. We have been to many many hotels in Ireland and abroad and I can assure you, if the hotel was assessed again, it would be lucky to be awarded 2 stars, let alone 4 stars. Upon providing this feedback, I was told someone would get back to me. That was over 3 weeks ago and surprise surprise, nothing. Many much nicer hotels in Dublin, cheaper and more up to date.

Lovely hotel. Clean rooms, comfy beds. Great, friendly service. Really good buffet breakfast. Only negative would be that for a four star hotel with a spa, I would have expected robes in the room and was also missing a bottle of fresh water in room. Had to drink from bathroom sink during the night! Everything else was top notch though and would definitely stay here again!

I honestly don't understand. 116 euros per night.. for what??? The hotel is not worth this money. The plumbing is old, the hood doesn't work. The bathroom is small, definitely not for men. There are no slippers or robe in the hotel, even for money. But there is a swimming pool and a sauna, so if you don’t have spare shoes, go there in boots. Absurd. If you are traveling to Dublin you should know this hotel is far from the city center, you will need to use the bus. There are no basic hygiene products in the room, thank you for at least soap and shampoo, you won't find anything else. There is also no water in the room, thank you for at least a kettle and black tea with instant coffee. I don't recommend!! People from the street, not just residents, come to the pool and sauna, so there are a lot of people, be ready. There is no soundproofing. The water pressure in the bathroom sink is weak, the light is dim. This is all terrible for 116 euros per day.

Dear Natalia Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, we are sorry our Hotel did not meet your expectations. I would like to address a few of the issues you have raised. You are correct we do not provide robes or slippers, but we do not advertise that we do. Our Leisure Club has changing rooms where Hotel guests are welcome to change. Our Hotel is located in the suburbs of Dublin, approximately 3 km from the city centre. This is not a secret it is listed on our own website and all third party sites. We do provide toiletries soap, shower gel, shampoo and lotion. I am not sure what other toiletries you were expecting but there is a convenience store directly beside the Hotel. Our Leisure Club has Club members who pay to use it and Hotel Guests may also avail of our Leisure facilities free of charge. The hotel has been fully booked this week so understandably the Leisure Club was busy. Apologies for the issue with water pressure we will raise it with our maintenance team. We feel €116 is excellent value for a 4* Hotel with the range of amenities we offer. Thank you for your feedback. Regards Carol

Room was excellent. Breakfast buffet was excellent and all food was fresh & tasty. Staff were friendly & gave us good advice. Ceiling in Bar area needs a tidy up.Reception team were very welcoming. We would definitely stay again. Location of Hotel made it easily accessible via M50 & it is only a short walk into centre of Drumcondra.

Dirty hotel. Rubbish (bags full) everywhere outside and in the bushes right opposite the entrance. Parking is a nightmare and often traffic jams outside the hotel. Would definitely not recommend. Should definitely not be a 4star hotel either, it would be 3 star at the very max

Did you actually stay at our Hotel as this is blatantly untrue, there are not bags of rubbish all around the Hotel. We recently hired a private clamping company to secure the parking spaces for our guests which we were having difficulties with following the opening of a new apartment block near the hotel which had insufficient parking for apartment residents. This has vastly improved parking for our Hotel guests

Perfect place for our group of 12. Great facilities, rooms nice and welcoming staff. Everything we could have asked for. Breakfast was also really tasty and offered a wide range of selection. Few members in our group also enjoyed the pool facilities.
